CAMPBELL CONTRACTING

Jeff Campbell was hired by my wife and I through a referral from our real estate agent to build three spec homes. Two of the loans were for $105k through a bank and the other loan was for $242k through a different bank. None of the three homes was ever finished and we were not able to get occupancy certificates for the two small homes a year after they were started. After exhausting all of our credit cards trying to prevent these homes from the foreclosure wolves we ended up having to file for personal bankruptcy. We ended up owing over $118,000 for each of the small houses and they sold for $73,000 on the courthouse steps. Needless to say the large 2 story walk-out basement home was also never completed and as a result of our bankruptcy we let the bank take that property back. Jeff Campbell forged my name on draws, took reimbursements for things that he never paid for, Paid for labor (pre-paid at that)that was never completed. In the end he laughed and told me that there was nothing I could do to him. I tried to get the police to investigate him for forgery, fraud, Grand larceny and whatever else he might have been guilty of, but I was told to take him to Civil Court as the court system had a backlog of over 900 cases for fraud. We could not afford the retainer fees for a lawyer of anywhere from $5000 to $7500 dollars and they could not promise a positive outcome without needing additional fees. Jeff Campbell is a liar and a blatant thief that can not be trusted. After the projects got started it got harder and harder to contact him, he always had excuses about why things weren't getting done. He hired substandard crews that were not the crews he told us he was going to use. He took advantage of us and our relative inexperience building houses. Anyone that is considering his services should look elsewhere as there are many reputable contractors that would not do what he did to us and with no guilt or remorse.
