I called Jay on a Tuesday and left a message that was not returned by Thursday. I called again because, based on what I had seen on this site, he is good to work with, affordable, and quick. This time he answered my call. He mentioned that he had gotten my previous message but had not returned my call. I went ahead and scheduled a time for an estimate. It was to be the following Tuesday at 3:00. I had to do some serious shuffling in my schedule to make this happen but I wanted to get the system looked at as we were going to have company for the next 2 weeks straight and we had been having a very COLD winter and I wanted my heating system on the up and up. Tuesday rolls around and I am at my home at 3:00 waiting for him. At 3:45 I called wondering if he was planning on showing up. He had completely forgot about my appointment and was no where near town, asked if I wanted to reschedule... I did not, I needed this looked at and had hoped to of had it done the week prior (when I had first called). He was able to get to my house by 5:45pm. He was very pleasant and good to work with in person. I was happy with the call, thought that we could maybe repair the rough start we had leading up to this point. He said he would get back to me with an estimate. It has been more than 2 weeks and I have not heard one word from Jay Wolf. I give up.

It went well. The technician was there within 30 minutes. Very prompt. He was extremely friendly and helpful. He went directly to the basement to inspect, even offered to take his shoes off (which was not necessary). He tested the system, including electrical and noticed the lines freezing. He directly went outside and diagnosed we were out of Freon. He let me know the cost of the freon before he filled the unit, He also explained the cost was higher because of the type of unit(older) and how the newer units are different. He did not try to sell me anything, just wanted me to be aware of the differences. He then gave me some tips to keep my older unit running, but also showed me areas where the unit was aged and eventually, will need to look at a replacement. he said with good upkeep , we should be able to get a few more years out of the machine.

They showed up on time. Installed both units within four hours. Cleaned up all extra materials. And said have a nice day. I paid two weeks after the service was done.

We called them the night before and they said they would be able to come by the following morning. The called to see if they could come by at around 9am and were at the house in 15 minutes. It wasn't 10 minutes they were here that they found out what the problem was and had it fixed in less than 30 minutes from arrival. The cost was half as much as I thought it would be. Great service!

I can not emphasis enough, how perfectly ecstatic I am with this man and his company. I became a general contractor over 15 years ago (outside of this area) and have worked with hundreds of tradesmen. I have never been as pleased, as I am right now and Jay will be getting all of my future HVAC work. When I called, they had no idea who I am, or that I could lead to more work in the future (beyond what any homeowner could). Even when I told them, that it would be okay if they could not make it out until the following day, he assured me that he would be able to follow through with his first assessment and have it done in the same day. He called before coming and delivered more than promised. All with in hours of my first call. Do not let his low rates fool you; His 25+ years of experience show through, with his impeccable service and professional demeanor. He worked in a very cramped, damp, and smelly environment, yet he maintained a smile on his face, the entire time. Had my problem been in four other states, I would have had plenty of HVAC technicians (whom I have worked with before) to call on. Now I can honestly say that I can call on someone I trust, in a fifth state. Knowing what I do, about people in this trade, I expected to try out 2 or 3 techs, before being satisfied. Unless you count the companies, that I could tell over the phone would be a waste of time, I found the right company on the first visit. In short...I was amazed and you will be too! Do not waste your time, energy, or money, calling anyone else! Jay Wolf Heating & Cooling is the only HVAC company you need to call, in the greater St. Joseph area.
