Description of Work: I bought a big deal for $149 for Skilled Tradesman/General Contractor for Half a Day!

Description of Work: Contact with M W Construction has been filled with nothing more than excuses and unfulfilled promises. This big deal was purchased almost a year ago, and in that timespan we have been unable to get the company to schedule the work. The first excuse was he sold more vouchers than he had anticipated and was booked solid for months. We contacted him periodically to check on his status and he claimed to call us back (on our home phone without leaving messages). We clearly explained to him that both of us work full time and aren't home during business hours in the middle of the week. We provided him email addresses and cell phone numbers which he never called. In late February/early March, the coupon was set to expire so we contacted him to see if we could schedule the work before the expiration. Again, he was completely booked and promised to still honor the coupon regardless of the expiration date. Within the last month, I contacted him again to question why no progress toward a scheduled job had been made in the past 10 months. He promised to contact my wife to schedule the work and I gave him her email and phone number but he never called. I emailed him again to ask why he never called or emailed and expressed my frustration with the lack of communication. There has been no response. We have given this man almost a year to schedule a job and he hasn't been able to do it. The only thing he's actually proven he is competent to do is disappear.

Description of Work: I am requesting a refund for a Big Deal coupon that I purchased in late March from M W Construction Services in Saint Peters, MO. The coupon was $149 for 6 hours of general contracting and carpentry work. Shortly after purchasing the Big Deal coupon, I called the owner, Mike Welsh, but his voicemail was full. I sent him an email, and he wrote back asking that I send pictures of the job because he was busy and preferred to first try to estimate the job using pictures instead of stopping by in person. I sent him pictures and an email explaining the work I wanted the next day (on April 5th). For the next 5 to 6 weeks, I attempted multiple times to contact both Mike and his assistant via phone and email, but nobody would return my calls or respond to my emails. Finally, Mike's assistant called me and arranged for him to come to my house on May 16 to review the project. At that time, Mike told me that my project would take right around the allotted 6 hours and that he was about 2 weeks out in terms of scheduling, with some potential minor delays if the weather was rainy (my project involves some outside carpentry). Well, 6 weeks have now passed, but I have been unable to get in touch with Mike in regard to scheduling. Actually, I have not heard back from the company at all in regard to the project. This company appears to be too busy to take on any new work, and it's clear from their actions (lack thereof) that they do not want my business. Their utter lack of response is also highly unprofessional, especially in light of the fact that the services were pre-paid. At this point, I will find someone else who wants the work.

Description of Work: I attempted to contact MW Construction multiple times, leaving a voice message when I could get to the answering service (it was sometimes full) but never received a call back.

Description of Work: On March 18th, I purchased one of your Big Deals, which was $149 for 6 hrs worth of contractor repair on wood rot. I contacted the contractor that day via email (Mike Welch from MWCservices). I did not get a response. Three days later I emailed again and received a reply that he was really busy and would get back with me. On April 11th, I sill had not heard from him. I sent him repeated notes and he stopped by on Sunday April 14th unannounced to look at the job. We looked at everything, he made a plan and said he would contact me the following week when he thought they could come out and do the job. I've contacted him each month since. I've heard from him once and he said he would look at his schedule to see if he could bump someone in order to do my home. I explained that I was not looking to have my place inserted ahead of anyone who bought the deal before me, that I simply wanted to be on the calendar so we knew there was a plan to do the work. He did not reply and I've heard nothing since. He's suggested that all of the weather we've had has not allowed them to get to the work. I have difficulty believing that in a 3 month span, however, we could not even get on a schedule for the work. As a result, I still have some damage that needs repairing and I would like to get a refund for the $149 I paid in March so that I may go with a different company.

Description of Work: I've made several attempts to get a response from this company. They did finally respond and I discussed with them the services I needed. They said they would have something scheduled within the next week. I have not heard back from them since and have reached out and left messages at least three times. No response at all. Not a company I would recommend.

Description of Work: I never had any contact with this provider despite my efforts to reach them. I called numberous times and sent emails and never received a response. Very disappointed in the Big Deal as I would have expected much more from a deal offered by Angies List.

Description of Work: I needed to have a chandelier installing in my dining room. There had never been an overhead there, so electrical wires would have to be pulled to install the chandelier. I bought an Angie's List Deal for "skilled tradesman for 1/2 day" for $149, after checking to see that the contractor offering the deal was experienced in electrical work. I was not sure if 1/2 day was enough time, but figured if the job took longer, I would pay for the extra time. I did have a bit of trouble touching base with Shoe to schedule the work. He said he was swamped with work--I am sympathetic with him on that ,since at my job we are also often overwhelmed and unable to meet the customer's expectations as far as timeliness is concerned. I also was not as persistant as I could have been--often leaving him a message or email,then forgetting about the project for a while,even though my message had not been returned. I was getting pretty frustrated though, as I had already paid for the Deal. I bought the Deal Sept. 6, and we finally scheduled the work for Dec. 13. On that day , Nick showed up right on time. Before he even started on the chandelier, Nick kindly changed the light bulb in my refrigerator for me. It had just burned out, and it seemed I needed a certain tool in order to remove the plastic cover before the bulb could be changed. I was appreciative of that. Then Nick asked to see the chandelier so he could determine how heavy it was, so he knew which parts he would need to support the weight of the chandelier. It was necessary to pull the wiring from a light switch on the wall near a door--up through the wall to the ceiling where I wanted the fixture to hang. Nick centered it perfectly and did a very nice job. In fact, no patching on my ceiling will be needed at all. The wallboard around the wall light switch had to be punched in, as I was warned in advance. Nick spackled over that area and would have touched up the paint for me. Unfortunately there was no touch up paint, so I guess the whole room will need to be re-painted, which I had also been told of in advance. I really did not like the color anyway, so it is OK. Nick did a great job and was very considerate and clearly wanted me to be satisfied. He was there a really long time--maybe 6 hours or so. I had bought a dimmer switch and Nick explained to me how to be sure to turn the light off when not in use, and not just turn the dimmer down so that it seems like the light is out. I definately got my money's worth. probably more than my money's worth. The chandelier looks great and I am very happy. I would definately use this company again.

Description of Work: Unfortunately, he came to my home, took measurements and pictures, but never got back to me with a bid to remodel my bathroom. Therefore, I wouldn't be interested in using his services.

Description of Work: Nick was on time, proffessional, and did an outstanding job. He tackled all our many minor issues around the house! All the work was done well, and left the house clean! Great service, great job!

Description of Work: Repaired ceiling fan, installing a new remote receiver instead of automatically installing a new one. This saved me a lot of money. He also installed a new weather strip to an outside door. This was difficult as the house is over 50 years old and the installation was not standard. He also straightened the door the best it could be done.

Description of Work: Weather stripped my front door, repaired the kitchen ceiling fan, replaced the outdoor house lights and repaired the downstairs cabinet door that wouldn't close.

Description of Work: I HAD RECENTLY HIRED A CONTRACTOR TO REPLACE THE WINDOWS AND SIDING ON MY HOUSE THEY TOOK FOREVER TO START AND WHEN THEY DID THEY DIDNT DO ANYTHING WHEN THEY WERE HERE. SO I LOOKED UP MW CONSTRUCTION AND HAD MIKE COME AND LOOK HE SAID HE WOULD FINISH THE JOB AND GIVE ME A GOOD DEAL SINCE I GOT SCREWED BY THE LAST COMPANY. HE GOT TO WORK THAT WEEKEND AND FINISHED A WEEK LATER THE WINDOWS AND SIDING LOOKED GREAT AND HE EVEN FIXED THE FASICA THAT WAS COMING OFF WHEN IT WASNT EVEN IN THE BID HE WAS VERY NICE AND CALLED EVERYDAY BEFORE COMING OVER TO WORK. I AM GETTING READY TO REDO THE DECK AND WILL LOOK TO MW CONSTRUCTION TO GET THE JOB DONE RIGHT.

Description of Work: I e-mail this company via the Angie's List link and a gentleman called me on the phone as soon as he got my message. He was working a job at the time and said he would call me back after work to set up a time to see what I needed to have done. He never called back, so I had doubts about his interest in the job.

Description of Work: My home was flooded from the basement to 3' of the first floor. Mike and his men had to remodel the whole house from new furnace, water heater, electric to the upstairs drywall, plaster, kitchen, bath. He even updated my two fireplaces with stone facing. My wood floors also had to be refinished and sealed.
