Affordable Kitchen And Baths

We have found Affordable Kitchens and Baths to be both unprofessional and dishonest. We paid them in full for materials and 20% installation in April 2022, for a kitchen remodel that was to begin in July 2022. After three months of calling and being put off, they finally started our remodel on October 17, 2022. The day they began we received a call from Lonnie, VP of operations for a check for an additional 60% of install which he sent someone to pick up. The man that showed up to demo our kitchen and hang new drywall didn’t protect our floors and left deep gouges and scratches throughout. On day three he admitted that he wasn’t employed by Affordable K & B and probably wouldn’t be returning to complete the job because there was a dispute over money. Lonnie Walker contacted me the same day to ask for additional funds to which I declined. The drywall was atrocious. He left 4 inch gaps at the bottom of each wall. He drywalled over electric outlets and exhaust duct for microwave. He did not remove any door casings instead cut and removed drywall close to casings instead leaving large gaps and gouging casings. When he began to instal cabinetry the first one out of the box was damaged. We were told there would be a 7 day rush for a replacement. The lower cabinets were installed but an additional upper double cabinet was ordered incorrectly and had to be replaced and another piece was damaged. So, we were under the impression that in one week they’d be back to complete the kitchen with cabinet replacements. THEY NEVER CAME BACK! For 6 weeks we were told the replacements weren’t in. They literally worked 8 days in our home. They stopped taking our calls. We asked a friend who’s an attorney to send letters to negotiate at the very least the replacement cabinetry that we’d paid for. They wouldn’t give them to us. After being left without a kitchen for 3 months we were tasked with hiring another company to repair mistakes, order replacement cabinetry and complete the remodel. We spent an additional $10,000. Five months to the day after demo began, our kitchen was finally completed! We have hired a lawyer to litigate this matter.

I’d give less than one star if it would let me. This has been the worse experience, I wish I had searched reviews BEFORE ordering. We ordered a shower for my daughter the first week of July and paid in full. We started checking in order and would leave messages on the VM for Britt or Brett not sure what his name is. So today I called the manufacture and the order was just placed today and actually still wasn’t placed they needed more information. When Britt just called me he stated that we aren’t allowed to call the manufacture that we don’t have all the information.. thats bull, I had the order number and it’s pretty clear they just placed the order and it won’t be delivered until Nov sometime. He said we can’t get a refund even though he just placed the order because we signed the paperwork stating special orders have a no refund policy. .oh and he said he never got any of our VMs I told him I guess his Voicemail system is terrible as well. Whatever you do stay away from this place!!! N

CANNOT stress enough how much we would NOT recommend this company! The worst for communication, job performance & customer service. Britney Callier - son of Dave Callier (business owner) sadly is running things at AKB now so you have no choice but to try and work with him if you do business here. Our whole process started for a new shower and vanity back in March and we're now over 7 months and counting. We were originally told 6 weeks! Gave the down payment on Mar 21 and told 13 weeks. At 9 weeks we hadn't heard anything so we stopped by the store for an update and this finally got them to do the final measurements and was told it would be delayed on account of materials still needing to be ordered even though they cashed our check within 2 days. Red flag -they only take cash or check -now we and others know why. Hadn't heard a word again so July 17 we stopped by the store to be met with more excuses. Asked for the owner to call us. Finally, on Aug. 2nd, 5 months later for the first time EVER we heard from someone. Told us others were waiting longer than us. Not a good sign and not told to us up front. Things looked like they were finally going to be completed the week of Aug. 14 only to be left with a horrible installation, The doors were put on backwards leaving holes in the shower walls, the doors were not aligned, the shower fixture (wrong one) was loose (videoed this) caulking was so bad any amount of water would get behind and ruin the walls. The fan was never connected properly and the vanity we were told was defective so we never saw that. We have not been able to use or even turn the water on. We contacted Brit and John Dolence (owner of Mission Contracting) immediately with email, pictures and a phone call as the guys left saying "enjoy your shower". We were told it would be about 2 weeks and they would replace and send new guys. Again, no communication & numerous unanswered emails so Sept 21 we stopped by the store and videoed the encounter. Rudely, we learned that our replacement materials were in and nobody bothered to call. For Real! Feeling scammed, we've had to contact the BBB, the Attorney General's Office and now a private lawyer. Brit has been rude, patronizing, and condescending during this process. We did a google review and from that, we have now met and come into contact with others in the same situation as us with AKB since Brit has taken over. Brit actually lied and told the Atty. Gen. we have a fully functional shower and he knows we do not! AKB is denying us a refund to hire someone else and John said he has someone in mind to replace the work, but Brit refuses to let him return to honor the original contract. We call this breach of contract. Best advice- wish we had, is DO NOT buy from this dishonest unscrupulous company. They have our money plus some and we do not have a functional shower. Just hostility, excuses & delays.

Affordable Kitchen and Baths has extremely poor customer service - especially Amy Hotchkiss. We made it through about 50% of our design and order phase and then we did not hear back from Ms. Hopkins even after numerous emails and phone calls over a 4 month period. At first she told us she was busy and was working on our design and cost estimate and then we heard nothing at all. We lost a lot of time with our kitchen remodel. Our budget increased to $40K but she would not return our correspondence so we could let her know. We also had friends who work with her on new countertops and experience the same thing. No decency to even say they didn't want our business. We were extremely patient but finally had to move on. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

I had set up an appointment with the owner, Gary Collier, and a plumber to come and provide an estimate as some of the plumbing needed to be relocated. We had picked out the shower & vanity for the room at Affordable K&B. I had to take Annual Leave to arrive at the appointment time that Gary insisted upon. My partner would have been home all day two days later, but he stated that the Monday would be the best. So I took AL and no Gary or Plumber. I called the store and asked for Gary. He was still at the store. I asked why he had not shown up. He said he had gotten side-tracked with another customer and forgot. I said I was a customer and asked again if the plumber had showed up. He didn't answer and said he could come now. I then asked him if this was the kind of punctuality I could expect from his workers. He told me that I didn't have to hire him. I responded that he was correct and hung up. You decide!

We decided to completely remodel our kitchen, all new cabinets, counter tops, backsplash, and all new appliances. In addition to the main portion of the kitchen, we also wanted new cabinets in the laundry room, and the installation of a pantry cabinet to replace the existing pantry. We had NO IDEA of what we actually wanted, (drawer units verses standard door units, spice racks on the doors, etc) so we contacted 4 different kitchen remodeling companies to help us design and install the new kitchen. Having never gone thru the process of completely remodeling a kitchen, our expectations from each of the companies was that a design specialist would come to our home, view the kitchen, pantry area, and laundry room, take the appropriate measurements, discuss with us the possible options, and put together a preliminary design. We would then go to their showroom, review the preliminary design, make any modifications necessary, and then select cabinet styles, countertops, tile, etc. The vendor would then put together a final design and cost breakdown for our review. The above process is exactly the way that the other 3 companies handled the process. I tried contacting his vendor thru AngiesList, but they never responded so I emailed them thru their own web site. The response that I received from them was the following ?Hi xxxxxxxxx, Typically we have you come to our showroom with rough measurements to get the pricing process started.. but I understand if you have limitations with scheduling. Would you be able to provide some pictures of your space with rough measurements via email? That way we can get you a rough material price before we come out to your home to price installation. Also, do you have a look or style in mind for the finish product? Any inspiration pictures that you can send me links to would also help in narrowing down what cabinet line we should be using to design and price your kitchen will help get you a more refined bid without coming out to our showroom. Looking forward to hearing from you!? I responded with a diagram of our current kitchen and a few days later received from them a quote for a one for one replacement of the existing cabinets (same look) with no quote for installation, no quote for the laundry area nor for the pantry cabinet. We decided at this point the business model that this vendor operates under was not to our liking , the customer doing the measurements, providing pictures, not viewing the area before providing a design, and that we would go with one of the other 3 vendors.

Process took almost three weeks longer than originally promised. Affordable stated the delay was from manufacturer. Work quality ok.

We saw their ad in St. Charles so we decided to go with them. They were just very cooperative on what we wanted and they way we wanted it. They did exactly what we wanted. They did not try to turn us on to something more expensive. The only problem that we had with them was it took them a little longer than we expected to come back and take care of a couple of things. Their price was also comparable.

I have mixed feelings about Affordable Kitchens and Baths. The sales person we dealt with, Heather, was wonderful to work with. She was very helpful in selecting products and finishes and helping create a cohesive bath. The contractor, Fred, was a very nice man who was always prompt and professional and did his best to make sure we had everything we needed and things were moving along as quickly as possible. Our installer, Jerry, was a very skilled and personable guy. He made sure to do things the right way and to inform us if anything we had selected was not going to look right or if there were structural concerns with any of our choices. He was, however, a late arriver and early leaver. Despite the fact that Fred ensured us that our job was running ahead of schedule, I couldn't help but think it could have been done even sooner if Jerry had worked a full day more than a handful of times. On the negative side, apparently, the most important detail in terms of how long it would take to finish our bathroom was left out at the time of signing the paperwork. Heather never told us that it would take 2-3 weeks BEYOND when Jerry was finished with the rest of the room, to get the countertop in. She failed to mention that the type of surface we chose (Cambria quartz) took the longest to come in-- something that may have impacted our decision. According to Fred and Jerry, the sales people never mention this and they are left with trying to do damage control when the homeowners are fit-to-be-tied, as we were. We had company coming two weekends in a row AFTER I was told our bathroom would be completed. To his credit, Fred made sure we had temporary sinks installed so that we wouldn't have to share the hall bath with our kids AND company, but it would have been nice to have the knowledge that it could take up to 6 weeks for our bathroom to be done BEFOFE scheduling company. In summary, I would say that the quality of the work was excellent. The price, I believe, was competitive. The communication on the part of the sales team was poor. They need to be completely transparent when it comes to how long it takes to COMPLETELY finish the bathroom, not just how long it takes their own guys to do their portion of the work.

Salesperson was helpful and professional. Communicated when the cabinets would be available for pickup. They were ready when promised.

Needed cabinets for laundry room. Had previously purchased bath vanity and top there with good results so it was the first place we went. Provided measurements, the designer did the rest. They were ready on time and were well-made. We installed them ourselves and are very pleased with the results. We would definitely use them again.

Their install team was really great. They had very thorough and fair estimates because it included everything that I or someone who was having the kitchen redone would need. The people who came out to do it were very hard workers and good people.

We went to Affordable Kitchen and Baths several times for our renovation. Heather was nicest person we worked with during our renovation process! She laid out kitchen cabinets on her computer, compared different options, and quoted several different possibilities for us. Our kitchen countertop is installed without any glitches. We are very happy with Heather's suggestions and so did everyone who saw our new kitchen. Our reno is still underway, and we may use more of their service in the future.

.The woman who helped us select the cabinets, light, sink countertops, and everything else couldn't have been better. She made suggestions that were great, never tried to pressure us in any way and overall was wonderful to work with. The hat is lookinquality of the cabinets and countertops was very good although we didn't choose the most expensive. The installation was as good as it could be done. The installers were professional and anxious to please. I don't have anything negative to say about these people. I doubt that I will ever need their services again but I would not hesitate to use them if the time came. I would heartily recommend them to anybody that needs their service.

It was good. They did what we asked, they got the materials that we selected and their prices were within our range. The people who did the work were good.

Worked with Natalie throughout the process and were pleased with her service and attention. We were all ready to move forward with our selections until the bomb dropped that Affordable requires full payment up front before ordering anything. I've learned this a big no-no as a consumer and thought that this was an unheard of practice. When I called it out, Natalie informed that full payment is very common her industry and Affordable made no exceptions. I quickly found in making calls and getting some quotes from other competitors that full payment is not common. Fifty percent was the most any other competitor required. Several laughed at requiring full payment, and one said he gets a lot Affordable's business because of it. We went with a competitor.

Everything has gone very well. Conscientious of getting things done on time and correcting any problems.

I thought they did a really good job in helping me with everything. I gave them the business for the bathroom cabinetry. I thought that the girl I worked with did a very good job giving me the design ideas and walking me through the options that I needed.

I would recommend them again and use them again. They were professional and courteous. I worked with Heather, Fred, and Jerry. Everything was done at a high level of quality. They explained everything to me and answered all my questions. The price was good . He did such a good job and he actually refinished the walls even when he didn't have to. I feel like they did even more than I anticipated. Also, all the products they used were quality products.

The sales associate was very helpful, not pushy, but attentive. She showed us the size of vanity that we had requested and let us discuss our likes and dislikes. She checked in with us to see if we had any questions and gave us her opinion when we asked her specific questions. Great selection of bathroom vanities and countertops, from different sizes to a wide choice of finishes. We liked the option of mixing and matches countertops with vanities.

I had a wonderful experience. Two guys came and did it for me and they were really good. Even the sales people were good.
