My mom is older, and they didn't really explain very clearly what they were going to have to do to install the door in the side of the tub. They price they wanted for the work was REALLY high!! $3500.00!!!! This is for cutting a u shaped hole in the side of thh tub, sticking in a plastic door and caulking it, clamping on a plastic handle to grip (attaches over the tub and sticks up about a foot to grab) and a plastic seat. During the job, the guy sort of put in a little plastic to cover some of the bath surround, but not much. When he cut the tub, which is older and probably cast iron, the iron fillings went EVERYWHERE!! He didn't cover the bottom or sides of the tub, and being an older tub, the fillings sat on the tub surface and because there was water, rusted over the course of the day and ruined the procelan surface of the tube. He tried to cover up some of the stains with the bath mat, which he also ruined, didn't make much of an effort to clean up the black crap all over the room. he installed the door in the hole, but didn't adjust it, so it wouldn't even open an close!!! and then he did a crumby caulking job. looked like a kid did it! It looked like the bathroom was ruined!!!! My mom then tried to clean it all up herself!! (she's 86) and called me up crying asking what to do.. I thought maybe she was just overreacting and I said maybe some CLR would get rid of the rust and I would come by and see. OMG!! I couldn't believe what I saw!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a disaster. All the other caulk around the tube was stained/ruined, the paint was stained, the grout was stained.. the tub surface was ruined/rusted brown.. looked like an old abandoned house in the projects!! And you could tell it was the guy that did it because he left a FOOTPRINT in the rust under the mat he tried to hid the damage with!! We called the company ( a national company with an office god knows where) and after 2 or 3 calss got a manager. He agreed to meet with me to show him the situation. The manager was nice and apologized, said he had never seen anything like this before, something I find hard to believe, and said he would have someone come and try to clean everything up. He had someone come out and try to at least do a reallly good cleaning and recaulk, adjusted the door so it would work, and basically did what the other guy should have at least tried to do. Maybe he had a party to go to or something.. I think he knew the tub was ruined and just ran for the hills. The tub surface was still stainedreally bad (wish I could upload pictures), but he did get the door working, and he had a guy clean the floor, walls, and grout...but we are still going to have to have the tub re-surfaced and the walls painted/grout in the tile re-habbed... He cut the bill in less than half and did seem to try and make it right. in that way at least. But what an ordeal.... They owed my mom some money back, and when it didn't show up in the two weeks he promised, she couldn't find his number (they are a national company, not based in St. Louis, and the manager we dealt with travels around the country, so he is here and there.. not always in town) so she called the main company and asked... they emailed him, and he called her up angry at her for getting him in trouble. Turns out the money was depositied in her account when promised, she just didn't know it.. Overall, I would suggest people find a reputable LOCAL company and avoid these guys like the plague! This was just a disaster and a hassel getting it corrected. We're stil not done. I have to admit he did right by cutting her bill and was always nice to me, and to her for all but that last call.. i guess he was tired of dealing with it. but we still have to get the tub reglazed and the bathroom painted etc....

There were two men, one of whom smelled strongly of cigarettes. One of the men seemed to be learning from the other, but the trainee seemed to know much more than the other salesman. The salesman was a little cheesy, and seemed like a stereotypical used car salesman. He was very pushy, and when I said some of the cabinets looked nice, he tried to have me sign a contract right then. He offered so many dollars off for signing up immediately, and would not accept my request to let me think about it. It was dark out so I told him that I would prefer to see the cabinets in daylight. He then gave me a sob-story about how people have him come out repeatedly and never have the work done. When he left, I noticed there was a chunk out of our pine table where he had placed his sample case. I called and he acknowledged that he did dent the table, but said his boss would call. The next morning he came in so I could see the samples in daylight, but was still very pushy and became upset when I told him I needed time. When the boss finally called about the table, he was argumentative and rude. He was pushy about trying to make the sell, he reprimanded me for steering the conversation back toward the table. It was a miserable experience, and the estimate was extraordinarily high, although I did not realize it at the time. Although Home Depot worked with the main branch of US Remodelers to make the table situation right, I would never consider using this company again in the future.
Description of Work: We were walking through Home Depot and a woman approached us to offer a free cabinet refacing estimate. We accepted, and they came out.
