From my first meeting with the owner Mike Madden, I felt very comfortable. His entire crew of carpenters, electricians and plumbers were all professionally trained. Their advice was much appreciated and their expertise was evident. They did exactly wharthey said they would and were on time every day. They were very recptive to my questions and were not bothered with any changes that we asked for. I also felt very comfortable with the subcontractors that Mike used for flooring and ceiling work

The did return a phone call, but some of the messages were confusing and/or didn't make sense. They declined to give a bid stating that because I got several bids, they felt that they "couldn't compete."

I was satisfied with their work overall. The technicians were very professional and communicated with me regularly about what they were doing. They also consulted me during the rebuilding process. They estimated that the rebuilding would take 5-7 days, but it actually took 10 days. They also said that the rebuilding would cost more than the insurance adjustor had estimated, and they told me they were speaking directly with the insurance adjustor about these extra charges so I assumed it wouldn't be a problem. But then when the job was finished I found out the extra charges had not been resolved (they did not get approval from my insurance and added the charges to the bill anyway). Luckily, my insurance worked it out with them, settling on a lower price for the extras. (If it weren't for my insurance company being so good, the extra charges that were added without approval would have been a serious problem, and this raises doubts about the company.) In sum, their work seemed to be high quality, but the lack of communication with my insurance company about the extra expenses could have been a real problem.

Madden Construction did a tremendous job remodeling our great room. This was actually the third time in as many houses that we had them bid on projects. The first two occassions, we moved before we had the work done. They showed a great amount of patience with us and we finally pulled the trigger on the third home. The work was first-class and they were real easy to work with when we had to make some changes.

They painted over some of the drips and should have removed them before they painted the top coat. They changed the cost of the job after the job was completed. $66.00 per hour.
