They cleaned up so well afterwards which I was impressed with. They were higher than some but they were bonded and insured. That's what I'm looking for.

We've been very happy with them. We've probably used them for 30 years. We contract with them every year to provide that service. They just show up and do it. They leave a little notice on the front door of what they've done. They don't just come one time. They come like 3 or 4 times for each of the steps that they do. We have four separate services. They're professional. They're consistent. They come and do what they are supposed to do. They come on an appropriate schedule for the service. I would absolutely use them in the future.

What they did was fine. They gave us a bid for aeration but we went with a different company. They did fine. They seemed very reliable. You could always get somebody on the phone to set up the appointment. It wasn't like you go to an answering machine. They came out when they stated. They seemed very knowledgeable about tree related issues and lawn issues. I just thought their bid was a little too high for a lawn type care so we went with someone else. I had nothing bad about them. Price was fine. I would always keep them in line if we needed something done.

They were very easy to work with and I felt like they really knew what they were doing with the trees. It was based on their recommendations that we knew we couldn't save one of them, but they worked hard to save this other one. We got several bids and they were right in line with everybody. We're going to use them again. We're probably going to have the Maple trimmed and the Lindenwood chopped next year. We'll probably give them a call for that.

They did a very nice job. I'd give them solid A's across the board. They were just very professional, very thorough, very timely and very clean.

They did what they were contracted to do but I would never use them again. I don't feel they were reliable. They didn't do everything that they said. I asked for a secondary quote for stump removal. I didn't get that. They did a good job at removing my tree but I didn't like their sales procedure. I wouldn't use them again. He gave me a quote on it which was fine and I asked him how much it would be to do the stump removal and stump grinding. I don't recall if he told me what or not. He didn't get back to me on that. I would not recommend them for service. They did a good job but the way they handle their sales is unacceptable to me. The work that they did was very good.

They covered. They told us what they were going to do. They did what they said they were going to do. They were on time and on budget. My interaction with them was good. They were professional. The work turned out fine. I would just recommend them. I was fine with the price.

I had a good experience with them. They're very easy to work with. They call back right away. When they come out, they bill me. They don't ask me to pay them right away which is great. They send me a bill 30 days later which is superb. Price was good. They did it quicker than everybody else.

It was really good. I would recommend them to people I know. I did get a call fro a lady who wanted to know about them and I told her how good the were. Davey Tree gave her my name. I was very pleased with their work ethic and their job. They did a very good job. It was really overgrown and headed towards the house and the branches. I would use them again. Maybe they cost a little more than other places but they're definitely worth it. They're professional. They explain things, they talk to you before they start, they talk to you afterwards and they're professional. They were kind to my uncle. They didn't dismiss him because he was elderly and I appreciate that too when people do that.

He's 91 so they went through me. They cut up the tree and took it away. They left a couple pieces because it was beach wood tree that people use for decoration and that was their idea, not mine. They're good. They did not trim the tree back as far as I wanted them to because it was growing on the neighbor's wire. I called them back and the told me, we thought of that too but we didn't want to chop the tree too much. They said, we will come back out and trim it back some more which they did and they did not charge. It was a very good job.

They do a great job. They are reliable. Their price is reasonable. They're fine. We would definitely use them in the future.

Davey's service was excellent. They not only gave us the lowest bid, they arrived exactly when they said they would, took down the trees in one day, and cleaned up everything. The price was exactly as quoted. In our area (St. Louis) it can take time to get tree work scheduled. Davey was also able to schedule us sooner than our other bidders.

I was really impressed with the professionalism. I called and set up an appointment for someone come out within a day or two. Kyle was right on time and was super nice and thorough. Even when it became clear that I wasn't going to have enough money to do this job right now, he took the time to walk me through what the process would be like. He even took the time to talk to me about caring for a few other trees on the property. A few days later he called just to check in.

It was fine for several years and now, I think, they're getting very careless. It wasn't me so much as my neighbor who uses them also. They came to work on her lawn and it was as hard as cement at the time. They shouldn't have come. They should have waited till it rained or it was softer and was more conducive. But, they came and did it first time. She called up and said, "Hey, I'm not paying for this." So, they came and did it again, when it was pliable land. This isn't the first time it has happened either. I don't know whether they're getting people in there that they're not training or people that are trained. They used to have people that knew what they were doing. Now, I think they just have a list of people to go and do it. They do it and they have no idea what they should be doing and when they should be doing it. I'm not complaining about mine yet. But I watch them. What they did for my neighbor was absolutely ridiculous. They're expensive. They always have been more than most others. But I use them because I figured they were very experienced. It's an old company and they had a good reputation. I've been using them for 20 years.

It turned out just fine. I know there was sort of a misunderstanding and my wife was very pleased that they took her word and did not charge us for something that was not supposed to be done in the first place when nobody was home. We were pleased with the service.

They did an okay job. The only thing we weren’t happy about, we would like them to have been trimmed back further than what they did like those arborist. So they probably look at that different than what we do. I thought the price was a little bit high. A part of what we had done originally with the tree trimming and they had like one more time to treat the bushes so I would say they were responsive. It was probably setup a year ago and they did follow through and did it this summer. They were professional.

They're the best. They're expensive, but they clean up everything. They don't miss a thing that you ask them to do. They're very nice and a great company. I think they're a little more expensive than other companies but I don't trust other companies to do what should be done. They're also very knowledgeable about trees and shrubs. I have an older tree that is starting to die. I don't want to get rid of it, so they come out and trim it for me, so I can try to keep it living for as long as it can. They say it should come down and I don't want it to come down, so they work with you, whatever you want to do. They're nice people. I trust them. They're very knowledgeable about how trees grow. They do a nice job and they're very well equipped. They really do know what they're doing. I would suggest going to them, even though they're a little bit more expensive, because you can trust them to not drop big limbs and do damage and they clean things up. There's no sawdust left or anything. There's nothing that they leave behind. They're high quality and not a fly by night company.

I contacted Davey through their website and requested a bid to remove a dead tree in my back yard. The form required me to give my full contact info--name, address, phone, email--and I gave additional details about the job. After sending it, I received an immediate robo-response that my message had been received and someone would contact me as soon as possible. That was more than 2 weeks ago, and I have heard nothing. In the mail today, I received a bulk-mail letter from Davey that said they would be working in my neighborhood within a few weeks, and wouldn't I like to contact them for a complimentary assessment? Well, no, I wouldn't. Davey is known for being expensive, but says it prides itself on its superior service. My experience says otherwise.

11/2015 GRADE D Davey Tree makes a good initial presentation and was glad to take $1000-2000 in each of the last 2 years to put in landscaping for me. Initially I was pleased, however, I hired them to both install the landscaping and do maintenance. They apparently don't like doing maintenance as much, at least in St. Louis. We would agree on a plan and the local contact - Tom Broshears told me they'll call to schedule the work. They NEVER called, so I always had to call him multiple times to get the work actually done. This was our pattern for 2 years. The last time which was supposed to be September, they never came. They were supposed to put in more ground cover in the front yard, and do other work, and that was never done. They keep sending me bills for work not done. I am not paying for work that was not done. This is the gist of what I put in a letter with my last payment (of $360) 3000 to Davey Tree as I called Tom Broshears, the local arborist/manager and fired Davey Tree over a month ago. I need a landscaping/maintenance company that will do what they promised. I found you originally on Angie's list and will be copying this feedback to them as well, as they deserve to know the truth about Davey Tree. Updated 12/15/15 -- GrADE C+ Boy I'm glad I wrote this review. Davey Tree's national office told the local manager to call me and they have now bent over backwards to address the unfinished work and to regain my business. They replaced a couple trees in my courtyard that weren't dead but looked terrible (and had been recommended by the prior Davey contact), and helped remove some hard to reach dangerous broken tree limbs. I'm impressed enough that I'm going to give them another chance. I changed my grade to C+ based on their efforts and apparent intent to be more responsive and better on follow up. If they really do what they commit to do with me, in 6-12 months I'll write another review. I encourage Angie's list subscribers to write reviews about problems as soon as possible as vendors really do look at these and value their rating here. I wish I did so sooner.

I have used them before and they do excellent work. Came out and introduced themselves and verified on their work order what was required. They even took out some limbs that I had on the ground which was not part of the work order. The Arborist who did the limb trimming explained the importance to me that it is not just cutting off limbs but to be aware of the health of the tree and proper cutting. I will always use them in the future. Their prices are very fair.

Great service. Called for estimate and had someone at the property in 3 hours. Very knowledgeable. I was going to price others, but frankly I was impressed with the quick turnaround and expertise, so I just went with Davey. That is why I did not grade on price.
