STS Landscaping

Three broken stones outlining our berm were replaced with no issues. For the small retaining wall, we had asked for the same stones we had used in other areas of the yard, but Sid brought something else, called fon du lac; the tops were roughly textured instead of smooth, but Sid insisted it was the same and "very beautiful." The work overall was sloppy and unprofessional—not a smooth curve, not level on top, no thought to staggering the stones so some ends would not form a straight line on top of each other, a completely mismatched stone left over from the berm area wedged in to fill the end. Two landscaping companies, one of whom had referred us to STS, said that the job looked as though the homeowners had done it themselves, that the crew had taken shortcuts, and there was no way that job should have cost $1000. When I told Sid he needed to replace the mismatched stone, then told him forget it because I realized we needed a complete redo of the wall by someone else, he called me passive aggressive, said we were not a good working team, and grudgingly agreed to return $75, the amount he had added at the last minute for "extra stone in case" we needed another layer — yet obviously not enough to finish out the row. I never received the refund despite a call, a text, and an email, which all went unanswered. At that point, I posted a review on Angie's List. Immediately I received a text from Sid saying he'd been on vacation, but he'd put the check in the mail right away, so I took the review down. Still haven't received it several days later. This one stays.
