It went very well. They were very thorough with the inspection, must more then I thought they would be. After the inspection was over, they took time to explain, in detail, everything to us that was wrong and things that looked very good. He even took the time to text a picture of a spider that was found in the house to get the species of it.

Outstanding job of inspecting the property along with coordinating the other inspections simultaneously! If you want a fantastic inspection that is the most thorough that I've ever seen, you should hire STL Home Inspections. I have purchased several houses in the past and have hired other inspection companies that didn't even come close to the thoroughness of the inspection I received with STL. They are very knowledgeable and took their time going over everything and explained anything in more detail if needed. They are friendly, very easy to speak with, and reasonably priced. I have used their services twice so far in the past month in search of a house to purchase and each time they were just as though. Prices for services are listed on their website along with examples of a report. I definitely will hire them again when needed.

Billy was knowledgeable, thorough and patient with all of my questions. He was full of practical advice and rational suggestions. I really felt he was protecting me. He even made a special trip back at 7pm the same day (because we could not get sellers permission to walk on attic insulation earlier). Provided exceptional service!!

Billy and his partner were consummate inspectors--we now have a 60+ page document of "to-dos" for our new home, and we appreciate his earnestness in educating us about what we were getting into. All the books say don't hire an inspector your real estate agent chooses. I don't know if that's always good advice, but we appreciated how Billy stood up to our agent who wanted part of the process expedited on a point that even he admitted was in a gray area. Instead of rushing it, Billy came back a few days later and finished the inspection. We also understood from our agent that he shouldn't have been giving us advice--but we really wanted it! So again, your mileage may differ, but we would definitely call him again when/if we buy another place.

Using STL Home Inspector Services was the best decision I made when buying our home. I think it's important to remember that in the whole buying process, the home inspector is the only person on "your team" -- not the lender and certainly not your agent. I was buying a very old house (1930s era construction) so I knew I needed someone very thorough -- my real estate agent recommended a friend of hers, in hindsight I am very glad I didn't use someone who would breeze through this process. Steve and his team, on the other hand, patiently inspected every inch of the house, asked questions I never would have thought to ask, and made very detailed notes of all irregularities in the house. With the age of the house, they recommended an additional structural engineer's report -- and they even stuck around (far past their expected finishing time) to compare their findings with the engineer. In the end we used all of their notes and suggestions in renegotiating closing costs -- Steve and his team saved us thousands of dollars. It would be "easier" to go with a low cost inspector that tells you everything is great in your new house -- but trust me you will be happier if you are aware of, and compensated for, any potential issues down the road.

Hire STL Home Inspection Services! You may pay slightly more for your inspection, but I can assure you it'll be well worth every extra penny. These guys go through the home with a fine tooth comb and thanks to Steve and Tommy, I'm able to have more issues addressed by the current owner thereby saving myself a lot of headaches and a lot of money when I move in. They welcomed me to follow along during the inspection and as a first time homebuyer, I'm positive that I was a particularly annoying sidekick. Luckily Steve and Tommy had the greatest attitudes and did not hesitate to answer all of my stupid questions with a smile. I emailed on a Friday afternoon to schedule my appointment and inquire about costs and Bill responded that same evening telling me they could meet me at the house the next day (a Saturday, for no extra charge!). I chose to wait until Monday so he could contact 3rd parties to be at the house at the same time and I could avoid possible extra Saturday charges from the other companies. Bill works with highly rated businesses on Angie's List for services he does not provide (lateral sewer scope: $159 and termite inspection: $50). Everyone showed up on time, and I got the results of the termite inspection and sewer scope (with pictures & video on DVD) the same day. They did exactly what was expected or more... Steve came back to the house a couple days later to check out an issue I had questions about so he could better advise. Talk about customer service! I will definitely be contacting STL Home Inspection Services with my next move.

STAY AWAY! We went with STL Home Inspection Services for a new home purchase because the handful of inspectors that our agent recommended were already booked for the weekend we needed the home inspection completed. I stumbled upon STL Home Inspection Services website (their fancy website should have been the first red flag) and decided to call. The first thing I asked was if Mr. Boerner was a member of the ASHI and was told by his receptionist that he was. He also advertises ASHI membership on his website. Well long story short...after realizing all the problems that Mr. Boerner missed, I was questioning his credentials. I called and spoke to the American Society of Home Inspectors and was told that in fact Mr. Boerner is NOT a member of the ASHI and as of 6/18/2015 the ASHI says that they have no record of Mr. Boerner being a member. He missed MAJOR issues during the home inspection. He advertises that he always brings at least one other person with him, this is because the "other" guy that he brings is the only one that does any type of inspection and who knows what that other guy's "credentials" are. Mr. Boerner himself stayed at his computer almost the whole time of the inspection. I would advise anyone looking for a home inspection in the St. Louis area to stay away from this company. They are misleading, have false advertising, and are in no way qualified to complete a home inspection. We are out thousands of dollars because of this company. Save your money and stick with a ASHI inspector. You've been warned...

Billy was extremely thorough in our inspection and always responded quickly. He was professional and priced competitively. He made sure to come back later in the day to complete a couple of aspect of the inspection that ended up being critical to negotiations with the home buyer. I would recommend to anyone.

They arrived on time and were very thorough. They performed their general inspection while the 2 specialist inspections that they arranged (sewer camera and termite) were also performed.

Billy was very good to work with. He was easy to reach and was responsive to my scheduling needs. On appraisal day, Billy scheduled the sewer, termite, and radon inspections so that I didn't have to. All work was done in a timely fashion. Billy invited me to stay during the inspection and he took the time to give me a thorough explanation of his findings. The final report was professionally done and very detailed. It was extremely helpful in my negotiations with the seller. I will not hesitate to recommend Billy and STL Home Inspection Services.

From the first contact, you know you are dealing with a professional. Courteous and very knowledgeable, Bill addressed all the questions I had and some I hadn't thought of! He arrived on time and was well prepared to conduct a quality inspection. He took pains to simply explain all of the details in his walk thru, what he was looking for, what he found and what the implications were. The final written report arrived as promised even thought it was over the weekend. Based on the discussion, I opted to obtain a mold test which I hadn't initially considered. Although this test cost more than the inspection itself, it revealed a very significant problem with the unit I was considering. Strongly recommended!

Billy and Steve were already at the home when I arrived, along with the third party termite and sewer inspectors they set up for me. Right away they got to work and started pointing out items that would need to be addressed. Soon after starting to inspect the interior they pointed out some bowing of brick in the wall and suggested I have a mason take a look at it before they inspected the rest of the house. They recommended some companies to contact for the brick and didn't charge me anything for coming out. I will definitely be contacting them again when I need a full inspection. They were very friendly and professional and seemed very thorough.

All of the inspectors that were on site were very pleasant and professional. The home inspectors were extremely thorough. I came away from this experience with a clear picture what I was getting into and what I need keep an eye on down the road.

They took the time to address each individual concern and pointed out many other things that I had not noticed. They looked at EVERY area of the house thouroughly.
