I contacted 3 different companies to get bids for a mitigation system and Tom came across as the most professional so we decided to go with his company. When we moved to our current house last May the Radon level was just under 4, which was a concern to us since the EPA guidelines recommend that Radon be no higher than 4 and we have 3 young children. The house we moved from had a Radon level below 1 so this was all something new to us considering a level of 1 was never a concern to us. We decided to wait on investigating mitigation until the winter when supposedly the levels are at their highest. So we bought a kit and rechecked the level in December and it came back above 6. Tom was very thorough at answering all of our questions and gave us a lot of good information. He gave us 2 options of having the system come up from the basement through the garage and then through the attic above the garage as an exit point, or just taking the system straight out behind our garage and up the side of the house. Most people like having the system hidden so would choose going through the garage but since the exit point would be tucked behind our garage in our case, plus we have white siding (the color of the PVC pipe), we decided to go the easy route just straight out and up the back side of the house -- that way we would avoid having to make a hole into the garage, a hole in the ceiling of our garage, and then the exit hole for the PVC pipe through the roof of the garage. Overall the job went great. Tom personally came out to oversee the beginning of the project. The crew was friendly and neat and there was no mess. They left a Radon testing machine that supposedly takes multiple readings over the course of 3 days or so. Our level came back at an average of 1.3 so we were very happy to see that. We do not have a walk-out and felt that the air quality in the basement of our 17 year old home was a little stuffy and now, after the mitigation fan has been carrying all the stagnant air out from under the house and the sump pit has been sealed, both my husband and I feel we can tell a difference in the air in the basement. We also feel better about letting the kids play in the basement knowing the radon is down to a safer level.

Tom and his staff are extremely professional and knowledgeable, more so than other companies I talked to about reducing the radon levels in my home. They are also local to St. Louis and available to meet with you in person and assess your individual situation, which is not true for some other companies that provide radon mitigation services. The installation (and follow up monitoring visit) was on schedule and went smoothly and quickly. They left no mess and the finished product looked better than I expected. They do great work!

Tom and his team were very professional and responsive to my needs. My husband and I bought a house with a radon level that was far too high for my comfort level, and Tom spent a lot of time on the phone with me going over different mitigation options and what I could expect from a mitigation system. He even researched and purchased an add-on piece of equipment that I had expressed interest in. On install day, he and his team were on-time, efficient, and very helpful in suggesting the best location in my basement to install the piping, and the overall look of the system and its intended results far exceeded my expectations. With a four-inch piping system, my radon level went from an 8.1 to a .7, far lower than EPA recommendations. I will be contacting St. Louis Radon in the future for any additional work to the system that I might need, and I would highly recommend them to anyone needing mitigation services.

St. Louis Radon was impressive from our initial contact through the completion of the job. Our "introduction" to St. Louis Radon was through their informative and easy to navigate web site. The site is a layman's guide to everything you need to know about radon testing and radon reduction. After being impressed with their web site, we phoned the company for answers to specific questions about installing a radon reduction system in our home. We spoke with Tom for at least thirty minutes while he patiently answered every question and concern. We were extremely impressed with Tom's patience, professionalism and knowledge so we inquired about scheduling the installation. Tom and his crew were scheduled for less than a week later and arrived at the exact time of the appointment. The installation process was flawless and impressive. Upon arrival, the crew explained the installation process and provided written literature for review. When the installation was completed, the operation of the system was reviewed and we were asked to inspect the work on the inside and the outside of our home. We were asked if we had any questions and if the clean up was satisfactory. The previous detailed explanations left us without any questions and the work area looked as if the crew had never been at our house. We whole-heartedly recommend St. Louis Radon to any homeowners or realtors in need of a radon testing or mitigation company. We have already referred our neighbors to them!

Overall: Fantastic. Multiple people from St. Louis Radon came to my house at the agreed upon time. Particulars concerning the system and installation process were explained in a well-mannered and well-explained fashion. St. Louis Radon had an attentiveness to detail and willingness to discuss and negotiate a location for the installation of the system. We spent the better half of 15 minutes discussing options concerning the installation location, and in the end we came up with a great location to install the system. Installation was professional, fairly quick, and the staff was responsive not to damage anything in particular surrounding the installation location. They were careful enough during the installation that a cable line less than inch from the installation point hardly had a scratch. Installation was clean and thorough. Staff patched holes in my basement floor to ensure a tight-closed system beneath the basement floor, up and beyond the roof. Everything was swept clean, and any mortaring necessary was done professionally. The system to which they installed was high-tech and energy efficient. I was concerned the fan would make a lot of noise, but in fact the system is very whisper quiet. In addition I was concerned of potential water penetration and damage, but St. Louis Radon was quick and explicit in explaining how the system was developed to handle the elements, including the external outlet to the system on the outside of the house. Aside, maybe I should have requested a cover at the top of the exhaust to prevent a large amount of water collection, like during heavy downpours, or mitigation of snow/ice. But I am confident the system will handle the elements and St. Louis Radon Systems is not only trade licensed, but also provide a transferable warranty for 5 years. That's good enough time to see how the elements impact the system. The system was connected to an adjoining circuit in the basement shared with a pull-chain light that is then coupled with a breaker system. After installation, St. Louis Radon set up their equipment to conduct a new test of radon gas after installation of the system. In the end I was very pleased with the radon mitigation system, as well as the methods of installation and post-clean up. I would highly recommend St. Louis Radon to anyone looking for a radon mitigation service.
