Sales person, Hillary, was great. We visited the store on 2 occasions, she was very patient and answered all our questions. We had an issue with the headboard and the chest, but store immediately addressed our concern and had new furniture delivered within a week. Completely love our new Broyhill bedroom set. Very nice and well built. We did have an issue with setup by delivery crew, but it was minor and we were able to get it corrected.

The service was great! Our sales person was also an interior decorator and was very helpful in assisting us in coordination styles and fabrics. Also, we bought two top of the line La-Z-Boy recliners and they beat the price we were given by the La-Z-Boy store by quite a bit. Definitely our go-to store for quality furniture at a competitive price from now on.

Just a word of caution – ALWAYS READ THE FINE PRINT! On January 15th, Gisela and I stopped in at Slumberland Furniture (4265 Rusty Road, St. Louis 63128). For several years, Gisela had been wanting to a Tempur-Pedic mattress. We had stopped at innumerable stores and tried them, but had never taken the dive. On the above mentioned date, we were greeted by a nice salesperson, Kathi, and went through the whole sales routine. In the end, I made the call – today was the day. I put down $100 cash and opted to finance the balance ($1124.62) since they offered a 12 month, no interest deal. The papers were signed, and we were told the mattress would be delivered on the following Tuesday (1/24). We were also told that we had 60 days to return the mattress if it didn’t work out – after all the tire kicking Gisela had done on this product, the thought of returning it never entered my mind. A day or so later, we were called and informed that the delivery date had been changed to Saturday, 1/28. The mattress was delivered, and all seemed well. Almost from the first night, there appeared to be a problem. Gisela stated that she was having backaches every night, and that the mattress was so hot, she had to turn her heat almost off, and kick off the covers. This persisted day after day, with changes in bedding and varying the heat in the house. After several weeks there was no change, so the decision was made to return the mattress. On Sunday, February 25th, we stopped by Slumberland and talked to a young salesperson (Raymond) and were informed that there would be no problem. However, he stated that the paperwork would have to be taken care of by Debra, and that she wasn’t available until Monday or Tuesday. We left our information with Raymond and left the store. The following Tuesday, Kathi called Gisela and told us that we could return the mattress, but only for a one time store credit, i.e., I could not get my down payment back and would have to pay off the original mattress, but we could exchange it for something else. This was not mentioned anywhere on the contract I signed, but it does appear in a Slumberland brochure we were handed (and never read) when we left. Gisela called me in a panic, and I immediately called Debra, the person we were told would handle the return – this policy seemed so bizarre that I had to verify it myself. Indeed, Debra told me that I could not get my $100 back, nor could the contract be cancelled, but that I could return the mattress for other items in the store. When I got just slightly indignant, she told me that she would talk to the store manager, Jason, and they would get back to us. A couple of days later, Jason did call, but we were out. He left a message that he would be available on Saturday, March 3, and would call us then. I did not wait for him to call as I didn’t want this to drag out any longer – I called him at around 11am. He was very pleasant, but adamant that their policy involved a one time exchange ONLY – there would be no refund nor cancellation of the contract. In the end, we could have gone with some exchange, but we really wanted no further dealings with this company. So, because we didn’t read the fine print, we are now paying off an expensive mattress that is useless….shame on us. However, shame on Slumberland for never explaining their return policy, and for conveying the impression that there were no strings attached!
