SLS was fantastic! Sue and Laurie (and others, as we usually had a team of 2 - 3) were professional, dedicated, enthused and very good at helping me clean out and organize. I have some health issues, and they did all the work, with me supervising the ultimate decisions of where the items should go (donate, garage sale, trash, etc). They were completely nonjudgemental, and very helpful whenever a difficult decision had to be made. They also offered lots of tips and advise on how to maintain the organization. They were on time and very pleasant to work with. I will definitely use them again, as I'm sure I'll find more things that need organized!

For the last 12 years, our basement has been so filled with "potentially useful things" my husband was going to do something with when he got around to it, there was no functional space to work. Repeated attempts to clear the clutter over the years had little impact. We had a sum of money coming to us and he wanted to spend it on tools. I suggested we spend it getting the space cleared and organized instead so that there is adequate space to set up and use tools when they are acquired. I contacted Sue of Simplified Living at a friend's recommendation. She scheduled a consultation and arrived promptly. She was open to working in different ways (short times over many weeks) but equally clear on what she felt was the best way to proceed with a basement cleanout. We decided to follow her advice to hire a team of organizers (3 people) for 2 days and rent a dumpster for 5 days. She was also up-front about the unknowns: nothing would be discarded without my husband's approval, which meant the amount that would get done in those 2 days would depend upon how quickly he was able to make decisions (donate, recycle, trash, keep). We scheduled the organizing 1 day apart. Between days, the dumpster would arrive and get loaded up with the first day's discards by neighborhood kids ,recycling would be picked up, the first round of donations posted on Freecycle and Craig's list, and my husband could do "homework" to make additional decisions, What worked great: Sue and her crew showed up on time and worked hard all day at a relatively hot and dusty job. They made all the arrangements for the dumpster, and at the end of the day Sue filled her SUV with recycling. She was very good at asking questions to help my husband make decisions. When they left, the basement was much emptier, the dumpster was full, and there was space to move around. Three cheers! The basement wasn't quite where it needed to be, but we could see it from here. I could never have done what Sue and her crew did because any questions I asked had "husband wife baggage" whereas from Sue, they were just questions. What didn't work out quite as planned: we wound up scheduling a 3rd day the following week because the job was far from finished after 2 days, so it wound up costing more than we'd budgeted. Sue had warned us up front that the time it would take would depend on how quickly we made decisions so I can't fault her for that and there was no attempt to pressure us to spend more, it was just clear more time was needed despite everyone's hard work. What could have been improved: it might have been better to schedule over a weekend to get more done ourselves and make better use of Sue's crew - I'm not sure on that, though (see above about husband-wife baggage vs questions). It would have been better if we spent a bit more time discussing final organization of the space ahead of time. Sue had good ideas such as where to put my gardening stuff, but some odd arrangements were made (storing paper products underneath the table saw) That's a small thing, after all Sue is a professional organizer, not a workshop designer. The big picture is the job we wanted got done successfully with Sue's help, whereas it did not get done at all in the previous decade, and the basement is now well on its way to being useable workshop space. I would highly recommend using a professional organizer for similar situations and highly recommend Simplified LIving as the organizers to hire.

My basement clean out and organization took a total of eight hours to complete. The Simplified Living Solutions team worked quickly to sort, purge, and repack items for storage. They were invaluable helping me with this project and their friendliness made the time pass quickly. I first hired Sue Anderson of Simplified Living Solutions way back in 2008. I knew from the first session, that this would be an ongoing relationship because she was professional, nonjudgmental, and knew how to apply her principles of organizing. She is respectful of my feelings about my "stuff" and gently but firmly guides me in the direction she hears I want to go. This requires her to really listen, give me feedback and help me set goals. We do the goal setting at the beginning and end of every three hour session. Sue is focused and yet somehow makes the tasks fun. She also provides follow-up notes and emails as needed and takes away items to charities so that what is worked on that day truly goes away. I usually work with Sue in the summer when i have larger chunks of time and am more relaxed. My teenage son even paid her to help him in his room so Sue relates well to all ages. I also have used one of her employees to help me organize at work. Laurie is a former teacher, and she came to my school to help me organize my desk area. I cannot say enough good things about this organization and these women who truly make a difference in people's lives by helping them get organized. A very satisfied repeat customer:).

SLS organized my entire basement, office and 2 large closets. They evaluated the areas and needs in advance and formulated a plan of action to accomplish my goals. Laurie and her team were extremely professional and nice, wonderful to work with! Everything was done perfectly and even finished ahead of schedule. I will be considering other areas of my house for their services. For me, this was definitely money well spent!

We have been very pleased with the work that has been done. Thankfully Simplified Living Solutions has the resources to bring in a team for big jobs like this to speed the process along. We had a team work with us in our old home to sort through our belongings and set things up in an organized manner so that we could quickly go through our belongings and make decisions on what to keep or not keep. Because the team categorized items into smaller groups, the process felt so much less overwhelming. Everyone on the team was professional, compassionate, hard-working and positive. After the team initially came in and sorted everything in our home for us, we worked directly with one organizer, Laurie, one on one. She helped coach us through the difficult decisions of what to keep and what to let go of. She has displayed a caring, non-judgmental attitude through the entire process. Not only did we have our own paperwork and belongings to go through, but we also had paperwork from my Dad which went back to the 1930's! I was very concerned about identity theft and the information contained in his paperwork getting into the wrong hands. Laurie took the time to acknowledge my fears and to assure me that every possible precaution would be taken. The team of organizers sorted the paperwork into groups that made it easier to go through. We had approximately 25 boxes of paperwork to go through. Having Laurie's wisdom and support available to us we went through all of that paperwork was a tremendous help. We are currently working with Laurie in our new home to set up systems so that everything runs efficiently there. I honestly do not know how we would have done this without the help of Simplified Living Solutions. They have far exceeded our expectations by going above and beyond in so many ways, including helping us take a bunch of boxes of paperwork to a shredding service, including loading it up in the cars and hauling away car loads full of unwanted items at no charge. Also, measuring and brainstorming how to set up our new home. I can not recommend their services highly enough!
Description of Work: After making the decision to move into a retirement community, we decided we did not want to take unnecessary items with us to our new home that would clutter up our lives. Just the thought of going through all of our belongings though was overwhelming and we knew we needed help. We called Simplified Living Solutions to help us sort through and organize our belongings and to help us figure out what to do with the items we no longer wanted. The main areas we focused on in our old home were the basement, the home office, the master bedroom and our paperwork. We also wanted help with setting up our new home in an organized manner and to create systems to keep organized and running efficiently.

They showed me how to do things a little bit at a time. When they originally came, I was very confused and disorganized. I had things that were difficult to get rid of and they helped me through that. The service was fabulous and I would definitely use their service again. They were always here on time and for the price I paid, they were fantastic. They were always very careful with carrying my things to and from the attic. They are also very calm, and that helped me a lot. They were sure to help with me with anything and would talk to me to make sure that I am emotionally prepared to handle purging my things.
Description of Work: I had them come and organize for me, as I have difficulty with that. They helped me decide how to purge and organize things. They also coached me on wisely spending my money and what to keep. They helped me come up with a plan for filing paperwork and labeling my things. I am so impressed with Sue. hShe is very prompt and professional. She is so courteous and kind when working with people. She works to create a system that works for you. We have attended seminars that she puts on periodically in Kirkwood. She always has something new for us to learn that is helpful to staying organized.
Description of Work: I bought a gift certificate from Simplified Living Solutions to give to my husband. He has a hard time processing paperwork and getting stuff done in a timely manner. Sue contacted him and set an appointment with him. They worked very well together. Sue is very practical and methodical. She helped him figure out first of all, what papers he needed to keep and what he should dispose of. Then she helped him decided where to put paperwork so he could reference it again. She and he set up an organization system and this has been immensely beneficial to him. He does much better with the paperwork process now.

I used this service after moving home after my husband was deployed with the military. My home was extremely cluttered with boxes, suitcases, totes and just "stuff"; I had hurt my back and was unable to do the work myself and was in desperate need of help. These ladies came in and in an amazingly short amount of time had gone through EVERYTHING in my house and sorted it into specific piles--clothing, books, papers, cosmetics--just everything. They then sat down with me, room by room, pile by pile, and went through every item and helped me decide whether to keep it, donate it, or throw it away. They then put everything away in a highly orgaized fashion. As we went along, they taught me how to keep my home organized. These ladies removed the garbage and took the items I wanted donated to the appropriate charity. At first glance, the price looked high, but it was well worth the price as these ladies work constantly and thoroughly. They were professional, friendly, nonjudgmental and I never felt pressured. Our house is now organized, clean and welcoming. I never realized how a cluttered house made me feel so stressed. I plan to hire them again to declutter our basement!

I'm very happy with it. The ladies are extremely efficient. They are constantly moving and have this down to a science, so they really maximize the time they spend with you. I really think that organizing helps to lower my stress level. I can see that I will be saving money too. For instance, I discovered that I have a multi-year supply of paper towels because I was storing them in 4 different spots in my house. I have overbought on lots of other items that I don't need now. When I am in a store now, I stop myself and remember that if I buy something, I'll need to find a place for it when I get home. Usually I end up realizing that I don't need it or want it. Laurie is the organizer I've been working with. She's very nice and non-judgmental, as another reviewer mentioned. Plus, she really knows her business. I had a lot of catch up and also want to downsize so I can put my house on the market without having to rent a storage pod, like I have on the last two moves. So I have scheduled 3 hour sessions periodically, as I'm ready to deal with another piece of it. It's sort of like a personal trainer. I am glad to know that I can lean on her to get me where I want to be in organizing my life and my living space.
Description of Work: This price of $200 is for 3 hours of organizing help from 1 person. It sounded like a lot at first, but I really don't think it is, based on how it affects my quality of life. I'm not a candidate for a hoarding reality TV show :-), but I have accumulated an amazing amount of stuff. I was also under treatment for a year for a serious illness and have to travel a lot, so over time things got pretty cluttered. I decided to schedule 6 hours with two people for my first session (Laurie and a helper). After that, I've had Laurie come back for some 3 hour sessions on her own. We have worked on organizing all of the boxes in the basement, my suitcase / packing system, the papers so that I could complete by taxes from last year, and a mail sorting system (both paper and electronic).

Initially, I was very hesitant to trust that Sue would scrutinize my bills and papers as carefully as I was doing. As I worked along side her, using her method, I think she picked up on my anxiety. She told me that in her experience it wasn't unusual to discover large sums of money buried among papers. Yeah right, I thought. Then she shocked me when she said she'd already found an uncashed check in my papers. I did not believe her. She made me keep working until we reached our agreed upon stopping time. Then she handed me a check I had overlooked for close to $1,500. It was an insurance reimbursement check for dental work I had undergone. That made me a believer in her method and her skills as a professional organizer!
Description of Work: Sue Anderson came to my home to help me get a handle on an excessive amount of paperwork I had accumulated. It was exacerbated by bills, papers and memorabila that I had also acquired from being a caregiver for several relatives that were deceased.

I think Sue is doing a very good job. She is incredibly professional, mild mannered and calm. I like that she’s focused on getting to the heart of each project, and she really listens to her clients. Our project isn’t done quite yet because she’s going through 20 years’ worth of photos, but I am happy with what she’s done so far.

We talk on the phone and she also emails me and tells me exactly what I need to do to get organized and stay that way. She advised me on what I needed to buy to help get organized and helped me to concentrate on finding a solution. As I was tackling the project she would call or email me to tell me exactly what to do and answer any of my questions. She gave me good techniques to help me keep organized in the future. I have been looking for help with this for years because I do have ADD. She had a lot of knowledge on how to work with me. She was excellent and I would recommend her any body. I even helped my husband clean out the garage recently based on the advice that she gave me.

They were extremely friendly and so approachable. They were non-judgmental. They were very efficient. Lori the organize that worked with us had a lot of experience in working with kids with special needs. She helped arrange the toys that might be best for them. She helped me arrange the paper work for my child's education and medical files.

They also helped me rearrange my home so it ran more efficiently. They helped me organize my kids closets, their clothes, and a large toy and craft area for the kids.
