Simple Moves

They weren't the cheapest. I liked the way they responded to what she needed. They were just super nice.

Came a day or two after we called to schedule. Arrived on time and performed the work quickly but carefully. This is the second time we have used this company. We would definitely use them again.

There are a few positives to working with Simple Moves and many negatives. The following is my experience with them on 8/5/11. I was told that 2 movers would be at my apartment between 11am and 2pm on moving day. The movers would call me 30 minutes prior to their arrival. At 1:45pm, I had not heard anything from the movers. I called the Simple Moves office. They said the movers would contact me. The cell phone connection was poor and the movers seemed unprofessional. They stated they would be at my apartment between 3 and 3:30pm as their first stop of the day took much longer than anticipated. At 3:45pm, I called the office again looking for the movers. The office stated that the movers would call me. I was told they were near my house at another job and would be there at 5pm. At 5:30pm I called the Simple Moves office asking for some sort of compensation for the delay in my move. I stated that I already had a coupon through Angie's List (10% off a move greater than $150) and that I was Angie's List member and I would be writing a review. After talking with the owner, the office staff was allowed to give me a 10% discount....I already had a 10% discount so this was no additional compensation. The movers finally arrived at my apartment at 6:15pm. They started billing as soon as they pulled up to my house and then dawdled on getting into the apartment. Once they started working though, they were super fast! I was impressed with their speed once they started working. To appease me, Simple Moves did provide a 3rd mover to make the move that much faster...however, one of the three movers was in training (it was his second day on the job). Positives: ~ I called on 4 days prior to my move date and they gladly committed to a time-frame on my move date. ~ They provided an online estimate tool. I found this helpful to get an idea of what I actually had to move and what sort of time-frame I could expect 2 men to move my items. ~ They sent 1 additional mover to help expedite the move since they were 4-7+ hours passed the original time-frame I was given (they arrived at 6:15pm when I was provided with a 11am-2pm moving time). However, the additional mover was in training and it was only his 2nd day of work. ~ The movers worked really hard to fit my couch into the 2nd bedroom. This required several tight turns and it was unable to fit after several attempts. I was unsure what to do with this extra couch and one of the movers volunteered to take it home with him. I was happy to not have an extra couch on my hands. ~Really fast movers once they started working. Negatives: ~The movers were 4-7+ hours later than they stated they would be (they arrived at 6:15pm when I was provided with a 11am-2pm moving time). ~I was not provided any additional type of monetary compensation for being so late for the moving appointment (I was already using an Angie's List coupon for 10% off) ~ This company is not able to keep their appointment times. Maybe they need more moving trucks or teams of movers?! ~ It was difficult to contact the drivers and the office staff seemed like they kept putting me off. They did not seem concerned that I was upset at how late the moving team was....it seemed like it was a daily occurrence to them. ~The movers were slow to start working when they arrived at the pick-up location. ~ The movers did not bring any shrink-wrap or quilts into the house when moving items. They only assured me that my items would be packaged well on the truck. If you want your moving day to go smoothly, I would not choose this company.

I spent between $200 and $300 on that service. They usually move just large items and heavy furniture within the house and that is their specialty. I had them move large items and I used them because I saw them on the list. I would recommend them to others. They arrived on time and were very punctual. They were really nice to work with and got the work done on time. The only thing I would say was that they had to dismantle my bed and they don’t do that normally. They don’t dismantle it and put it back together, but it wasn’t that big of an item.

The movers were great. We were going to have them drop the furniture off and we do the rest but they stayed and helped get the furniture in the storage unit. We have used them several times in the last 6 months and they have been friendly and polite. I will use them again for sure.

They came within 24 hours. The people were great. We used there in house storage and redelivery services. They have quick turn aroung time and great customer service. Our items were handled with care and returned without damage.

Emailed for estimate, but I did not receive the response so called the number. They said they had emailed an estimate, so I asked to have the estimate sent to my other email address. While on the phone at that time (about May 19), I went ahead and scheduled the move for May 26 within the hours of 2 to 5. A day or two before that date, asking if I could move up the time since there were a lot of cancellations. I could only move the stime up to between 1 and 4pm, so that was the agreement. On the 26th, I received a call from the movers saying they were running late, then another call about 3:50 from the main office, also to say they were running late. They arrived at 4:50 and started to work, in fact I felt a little rushed. I had paid for the hour minimum, so asked if 2 more items could be moved. They finished the work, and I paid ( asked for the online discount for moves on Thursday and did receive that) and they were gone by 5:20. After they left, I did find one screen door latch was knocked askew and the screen door would not latch. I was able to fix that. They were very careful about not getting the dirt/mud into the rooms.

I have used them three or four times, and they are really good. They charge somewhere between $60 and $80 an hour because it is a short time period. I have also had them do something like move a really heavy couch, and it was a per-piece price. It is very easy to schedule them. Their guys are polite and very efficient in moving things. On one occasion, it was really hot. I live on the third floor, and they went up and down and did not complain or anything; they just did their work. It was not easy to carry stuff up and down, so I really appreciated them. My dad is a builder, and he really thought these guys were great movers. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future if necessary.

The guys arrived at 8:45 am, I gave them a tour of what was to be moved and where it had to go and they did the rest, being very careful of my furniture, walls and door ways. I also had some storage boxes that had to go to my daughters house a few miles away and they did that without any extra charge.

The movers were on time. Charged $115 for 45 minutes of work.

A truck and 2 movers showed up a little late, but loaded the remaining boxes and furniture items that were left by ABC "Quality" Moving from the previous day (7/15). We were able to make it to the Storage Unit in time, items were unloaded with everything being done professionally and timely. The guys from Simple Moves saved me from what could have been a bad situation. They were friendly, courteous and careful. I would engage this company again with no hesitation.

They did a good job. The price was right and I was pleased with their service.

The move went very well. Our appointment was at 8am. They showed up before 8 and started promptly at 8. We had furiture and items at two locations that needed to be picked up and taken to a 3rd location. We had a lot of big items that the men had no problem moving. They shrinked wrapped most items and covered furiture with pads and covers. When we needed an item reclocated they had no problem in doing so. Worked the whole time without taking a break or lunch. Everything was handled with care and every inch of the truck was used. No wasted space. They did a good job and we would hire them again.

Very professional service. Had all the necessary equipment and packing materials. Did amazing work with the loading of the items into the truck. I was glad to learn that there was no fee for packing materials, other companies have charged me for each roll of tape or wrap. Very simple process, agreed to service charge and hourly rate. They kept moving and the project was over quickly.

The company was phenomenal and Carnell B. is a huge asset to the company! Wow, did they underpromise and OVERdeliver. Smooth, effortless, and well planned. I am a busy professional, with little extra time or desire to spend packing up all of my belongings for a move. Large, small, breakable...They did it all. I did have a great deal of items collected over a 16 year span. Nothing was broken, disturbed or maligned. The guys needed extra help at one point and that was provided quickly. 5.5 hours, three men (at one time 4), all the boxes (many) and packing needed, plus one truck, and a few trips. Simple Moves really is "simple". Oh yeah, they were also very respectful and friendly!

Two movers came to do the job. One rushed onto the truck and, without really looking at how the things were situated, moved an object, which, unfortunately was supporting the 100 year old marble or granite top to an antique washstand that had belonged to my mother. It toppled like a tree and broke into a dozen pieces. The man who broke it told me the company wasn't responsible for the damage, because someone else had loaded the trailer. Fortunately for me, the other mover was an honest person who wanted to do the right thing, and he called the supervisor. The supervisor showed up at my house as they were unloading, and told me that yes, they were responsible and would take care of the damages. (I appreciated that, though the fact remains that this 100 year old family heirloom cannot really be replaced.) The mover who had broken the piece was angry and pouted the rest of the time he was working. I have to rate the company only "fair" because of the carelessness of that one mover and his unprofessional attitude, but I have to say the other two employees I dealt with were honest, hard-working, and helpful.

I called them yesterday afternoon. They arrived this morning, carefully loaded the objects into their van, and delivered them intact within the hour. The person on the phone and the two movers were cheerful and careful, and they got the job done with a minimum of fuss.

My best local move experience ever. They exceeded my expectations in every way. I would without a doubt use them again.

Initially requested a quote online but never received a response. Call three times to make an appointment. When they finally did answer they were able to accomodate me even though it was only a few days before when I needed them. The two workers they sent arrived promptly. I can't say they were completely professional but they did set right about getting the job done. One worker was very friendly and seemed concerned with doing a good job, unfortunatly he slipped up and cursed a few times. Didn't bother me but I see how it could others. The other was not all that friendly and seemed disinterested, but he too worked hard and got the job done. They finished my small job in under one hour. No stalling or lagging with these guys. There was some damage to one of my items. Not a perfect experience but I can still say I'd consider using them again.

We spent about $280. They were pretty good; better than average. We had damage but it was not their fault. We will use this company in the future.

The movers called almost a full hour before their "window" of 3 to 6 began, and said they were on their way to my place; since I was out running necessary errands, I had to scramble a little bit to get home in time, but I made it. The men hadn't been told about the extra piece, and grumbled a little, but I squared them with a $10 tip. They were quick, careful, and efficient.

They were absolutely the best guys I have ever worked with. I never had any problems, nothing that I couldn't find, nothing broken. They were just absolutely excellent both times. They were also very polite, respectful, and reasonable in price.

We had three guys wrap and pack everything up very quickly and professionally. They loaded the van (smaller uhaul size) up to the brim and got it all there in one trip. Nothing was damaged, they were careful but did not waste any time. Highly recommend them for smaller moves. Price was very reasonable - doubt it could have been done cheaper.

I scheduled the moving service about 3 weeks ahead of time (after finding them in the Angie's List magazine). I entered all my things (approx.) online in their questionnaire and got a rough estimate of the price. I was called about the appointment time. They reminded me of it again 2 days before. They called me ahead of time on the day itself, letting me know that they were on their way to my house. 2 men and 1 truck arrived, asked about what to take and what to leave. They wrapped the furniture extra (kind of cling wrap) to protect it and even took my garden tools and patio furniture in no time. They had to drive twice, but that was to be expected (3 person's household incl. 2 children). They delivered everything to the right room, pointed out preexisting damage on the floors in the house I moved into, and generally were pleasant and taking every effort to do the job well. I got a discount for an Angie's List coupon and was generally satisfied with their work.
