Simple Moves

I called simple moves to move my grandmother's dinning room set, guest bedroom set, and an old sewing machine to my new house. I got my estimate very quickly. When I called to set up my appointment they were easy to set up a time that worked for my husband and I. Victor and Shane were our movers. They were very nice young gentleman who assisted my grandma in moving a table up the stairs (outside the scope of what we had originally asked). They moved my grandma's dining room set very carefully, with lots of blankets. They moved my grandma's furniture into our new house. They got the bedroom set upstairs with no major issues. The whole time they were very careful with the furniture. Our total cost was $253. I would recommend to anyone looking to move a few rooms of furniture. My grandma was impressed enough that she is going to use them as well!

First thing the driver of the truck wanted to argue about where he was directed to park in order to load the truck. A representative of the apartment had to be enlisted to acknowledge that the parking spot was appropriate to utilize for a move. When told that everything was ready and just needed to be loaded, the driver acted like this irritated him because it was going to decrease the amount of time that would be involved in the move. At the completion of the move the driver attempted to add an extra hour onto the bill for the amount of time actually spent. Upon inspection of the furniture after the move it was noted that the top was knocked completely off the bedroom chest of drawers and there was a gouge on the inside of the entertainment center approximately 6 inches long and 1/4 of an inch wide. As indicated all of the furniture was covered and stretch wrapped before the movers arrived, at the end of the move the stretch wrap was torn away from all of the furniture as if it had been a waste of time and money to attempt to protect the furniture.

Two young men arrived on time and were very nice and professional. They moved all furniture and items out of the home, drove their truck to the new address and carefully placed all furniture and other items in new home.

I called around all of the moving companies in the area, and Simple Moves offered the best price for my particular move. The two young men were punctual and friendly, and they moved our belongings with great care and efficiency. The disassembled our large bed frame and dresser to remove it from our apartment, and then reassembled it in our new house exactly where we wanted it - we thought that was a nice touch. Hiring Simple Moves saved us a lot of stress and time, and I recommend you give them a try!

Simple Moves was great. The first crew arrived at the house within the expected time window, and we had only planned on having them move the large furniture into the PODS. They worked so efficiently that we had them load the PODS for us, which was great because they were much more skilled at getting them loaded than we would have been. In addition, when they arrived, they looked at our stuff and realized that it wouldn't fit into the PODS that we had, so we quickly ordered another POD to be delivered. Thankfully, it arrived fairly quickly, and Simple Moves loaded it for us. When our PODS arrived at our new house, we didn't expect to unload them until a couple of days after our move-in date but decided that when our PODS arrived in the morning of our moving date, we could hopefully get a crew from Simple Moves out that afternoon. They were able to accommodate our last minute request, and they sent a crew out to unload our PODS that day. They were courteous, conscientious, and hard workers. We would absolutely use them again!

We gave our daughter three movers from Angie's list to choose from and she picked Simple Moves because of the price. I was there when they came. They were on time and very nice to deal with. She lived on a third floor. I know that it was hard to maneuver the sofa and mattress, but they should have been covered with something. They poked their hands through the bottom protective material on both, and she has a scrape on the side of her sofa where they hit the wall as they went down the stairs. I told her she should say something, but she did not want to. Just rapping these things would have made all the difference. No, I would not recommend them or use them.

I contracted Simple Moves to move an entertainment armoire from my mother's house in St. Charles to my home in Kirkwood. They were able to do the move the day after I called. They called to let me know they were on their way. They were on time, courteous, friendly and experienced! The furniture piece was substantial and they had to get it down a basement staircase to a spare bedroom with an angled door. These guys were pros and knew what they were doing. I love the one item move flat rate charge that we received. I will definitely use them again and will recommend their services to friends and family in need of such services.

The phone conversation and estimate were good. Movers were scheduled for the date and time I wanted. Estimate was $300-400 and three hours time. Move was scheduled for 1 pm. Before moving day, I had to change job from a simple move -- one pickup and one drop off location a mile away, to two destinations. Day before the move, Simple Moves confirmed the job, and said movers would be there between one and 5 pm -- a big window I was not expecting. They arrived at 3 pm, and we were the movers' fourth job of the day. They were already exhausted. They immediately told me they could only take what was on the list they had. On the phone I had been asked how many boxes of kitchen items I had. I said four. So four boxes were on the list. With all the other stuff in the apartment, there were 17 boxes in total. They would only take four of them. I told them to call the office to change the order. They said the office was closed so they could not change it. So, my husband and I had to load 13 moving boxes into our cars at the last minute. The movers did not seem to have the equipment necessary to do the job. Usually, I am amazed at the tricks of the trade and brawn of movers. Not this time. They did not use a hand truck, and did not use shrink wrap to keep drawers closed. One mover in particular complained a lot, about his back hurting, how heavy things were, how early they had started the day, etc. I had everything well marked, but they still unloaded a few items at the first stop that were marked for the second. They said they did not need me to show them the way to the first stop, but were not in the right place when I got there. They also got lost on the way to the second stop, and blamed their GPS. I think they lost 45 minutes to an hour of time due to being lost. No credit on the bill for that. They finished the job around 7:30 pm.

Booking the appointment with the company is easy, you just need to provide them with a credit card number to reserve your reservation. I also had a few email corrospondances with the company as we ended up needing less moved then we originally planned (my husband and I spent the week bringing boxes over to the house). The movers, Steven and Vincent showed up at 8:40am (window was between 8:00am-9:00am) and got right to work. They finished up loading the truck around 10:00am and we drove to the new house. They finished up around 11:20am. The move went very well, Steven and Vincent knew what they were doing and were very careful with our things. We ended up with a couple scratches on the wall...but nothing we can't handle and my husband and I were probably responsible for those anyways. The move ended up costing $270 after our 10% Angie's List coupon and tip money to the movers. Overall, I am very pleased with the work and the value provided by Simple Moves. My husband and I will never move on our own again!

VERY DISAPPOINTING. I believe in research, research, research. That's one of the reasons I use Angie's list. I wanted to provide this report to save other patrons the time and trouble of researching a local mover in the KC area, only to find that it was a come-on.

Excellent! I couldn't be happier. The crews they send out have always been nice, respectful, hard-working young men. They are careful and my furniture has been treated well. If they are scheduled to be at your house first thing in the morning, they are very punctual. If your scheduled starting time is later in the day, they try to be on time but might be late if another job took longer than expected. That did not bother me at all, because I know that when they do arrive, they will work very hard. Ernest (and Steve and Sanchez) are especially hard workers with very positive "can-do" attitudes, so I usually try to request them if they're available. Simple Moves is also competitively priced: For Ernest and Sanchez to unload a POD stuffed with furniture and boxes and place them in my house (which they completed in an amazing one and a half hours), it cost me about $200, plus tip money.

We have used the services on many occasions and will continue to recommend them to our family and friends.

I called the company and spoke to a very nice woman and got a quote to move my home for 450.00. She also told me I would be getting a 10% discount for telling her I got the company's name from Angie's List. I give her the date I need for the move and it was no problem. I had to go out of town for work a few days later. Three days before the move I called the company and the left them a message because no one answered the phone. The next day I called them back because it was in the afternoon and I had not heard from anyone as of yet. I spoke with a older man who said he couldn't find my name in the system and asked me for my info again and told me my quote sounded to low and asked if I called the right company back!???? I told him yes they was suppose to be at my house at 10am on Saturday! It took the Company until Friday to call me back the day before the move! Then they told me it was going to cost me 5000.00 but that they would only charge me 1600.00 to move me because I live outside their commercial license area therefore they have to charge me more. I asked him why that is and he told me it was because his trucks were coming from St. Louis. I asked him again why because I know he has a location in St. Charles! He then told me he won't even be able to do my move until the following Friday! I told him I was in his system. The young man DID find me and my QUOTE of 450.00 with the 10% discount. But he would not honor it stating we are working on correcting her mistakes sorry she told you this price. I told him I paid this price for a moving company 2 years out of Lake St. Louis who moved my family from Wentzville to Troy which was more miles then what I am moving now and he could not explain why he was so high. I finally told the young man thank you for your time but I will not be using your company. I just wish they would have told me this sooner not the day before I was suppose to move. Now I'm not sure what we are going to do.

Wonderful on time, pleasant, professional, thourough can't say enough good things about them, They protected furniture with heavy wrapping. They were fair in pricing

There was nothing disliked. There were two gentlemen that came and gave me an estimate for 3 hours of work plus the travel time and it was more then fair. They were very careful with my stuff packing i up and delivering it to me and everything was in prefect condition when I got it. Also because it was only 2 hours of work they did they only charged me for the 2 hours instead of the 3 hours that was originally quoted. I would use them again anytime I need their service. They were just so professional and nice.

They were punctual, polite and hard-working. The job got done with no problems. I have recommended them to many people, and I would use them again.The final bill was even a little under the estimate!

This was my second time using Simple Moves (I wrote an earlier review back in 2010). On this move, they were punctual, professional, and accomplished everything in one trip. They were careful with items (none were damaged in the move), and worked smoothly. I contacted them again because of the excellent service I received back in 2010. I was not disappointed this time out. I would recommend this outfit to anyone.

I found another mover at the last minute - wasted half a day trying to locate the new mover.

It was a great experience. They were very professional and efficient. They knew exactly how to move the furniture. I liked how they were very neat and clean. They had enough people to do the move. Another thing I thought was important was that they gathered a lot of necessary information up front. I was very impressed with the information they collected before I scheduled them to do the move.

It went great. They were in and did it timely. It was a 2-hour limit that I gave them. The 2 guys that were here did a great job.

I have to admit that I thought the two gentlemen who arrived would never be able to lift my heavy, old oak dining room set. They were very nice young men, in uniforms, and they looked very young. I told them the plan, expressed my concern over the weight of some of the pieces, and they told me not to worry. And they were right. They had everything moved and spaced perfectly in my neighbor's garage so as not to interfere with his usage. And they did it very quickly and carefully. I will be using them again to move it back and take care of a few other furniture pieces in my home.

Every part of my experience with Simple Moves was professionally done and in a timely manner from the initial phone call arranging the move all through the move itself. The two movers arrived right on the dot, were professionally attired, well-spoken, clearly knew what they were doing, and took care to tidy up afterwards. The two movers were champs-the logistics of this move were tricky:that winding staircase and an oversized fridge, but there was not one word of complaint, not even ina joking manner, from them. It was a pleasure to see what care they took in the job at hand. I would hire Simple Moves again in a New York minute! Thanks, Angie!
