Simple Moves

The movers arrived on time. Besides the furniture I had 40 boxes to move. The movers were surprised about this and said they had not been told about the boxes. My belongings all got moved, no damage to the place I was moving from, to or any of the items moved. It went well overall, but there was an issue with scheduling. The move had been scheduled to take 2 hours, and it took 3. After spending an hour loading the truck they said they had to leave whatever was left as if they continued to load it all in the truck it would put them behind schedule. I was able to talk them into completing the move, but it was all very stressful for both me and the movers as I thought they were going to leave a lot of my belongings where they were. The move was scheduled based on an interview in the Simple Moves office. I felt the company should have come to the house and walked through to see what was to be moved so they could have done a better job of deciding how much time to allow for the move. During the interview, I was not asked how many boxes there would be. I scheduled 2 weeks before the move, so even if they had asked I would not have known how many boxes I would have. A walk through a day or two before the move could have alleviated the scheduling issues. I was the first move of the day, and they had 5 others scheduled! I'm sure they had trouble the rest of the day with running late.

I had originally hired them to pick up a washer & dryer and bring it from St. Peters to West County. Then, while they were at my house, I was going to have them move the old washer & dryer to my garage (for later disposal). Also, I asked them to move a refrigerator and freezer from my kitchen to the garage. I was given a window from 2pm-5pm. I was purchasing the washer & dryer from a private seller via Craigslist. Unfortunately, the person who plots their daily schedule is woefully inaccurate. They kept pushing the time further and further back. Meanwhile, the seller was getting getting increasingly frustrated and beginning to think that I was flaking on him. I eventually had to pay him an extra $100 to deliver the items just so I wouldn't lose them. The movers finally arrived at my house at 7:30pm. A full two and half hours after the close of their "arrival window". I will say that the movers were friendly, fast and efficient. But the company's scheduling (if you can even call it that) was a complete joke. What was supposed to be take about 90-minutes on a Saturday afternoon ended up not being completed until 8:30pm. Steer clear.

Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic service from Simple Moves today! I also used Simple Moves a few weeks ago and was very pleased with the moving services. The moving service I received was so easy and pleasant that I used Simple Moves again today for my moving needs. Speaking with Myeasha on the phone to arrange our move was very pleasant. She's very, very helpful. We hired two movers with a truck with the Angie's List Big Deal from Simple Moves. Keenon and Caleb were our movers today. Both showed up on time with smiles on their faces. They were both very friendly, polite and professional. Keenon and Caleb took great care in moving my belongings and they did so in a timely manner. I've worked with moving companies before that drag out the move to benefit them, but Simple Moves didn't do that. They were quick and careful. I can tell they really care about the customer and they provide excellent customer service. If I need moving services again in the near future, I will definitely be contacting Simple Moves again. I will also request Keenon and Caleb again. They took all the stress out of moving. Great workers!! Thanks!

Chris E., Ralph and Dante (spelling?) were very organized and careful with all of our items. They were extremely careful going through doorways so that nothing, including the doors/door jams would get damaged as we had recently installed all new doors and casings. We highly recommend them and would use them again if we ever decide to move.

My sister and her friend moved here from out-of-state. I hired Simple Moves to handle unloading the U-Haul truck on this end. When they lifted the back door of the truck, I almost fainted at the amount of stuff they had brought. I had in no way been prepared for the sheer volume of stuff, nor was Simple Moves' crew -- Justin, Stan, and Ralph. Nevertheless, the three of them handled the situation with understanding and grace, rolling up their sleeves and doing what was necessary -- even when the freight elevator broke down in the middle of the move! These guys finished the job, even though the time spent was way more than allotted, with such cheerfulness and good humor it almost made me weep. I can't say enough about them. I've used Simple Moves before with success, and will again, but this three-man crew, directed by Ralph, was outstanding even for this business.

They were on time and the move was completed without incident. Their prices are low even though they are true professionals. It was such a relief to deal with them after my previous move, with another company I won't name. That other company doesn't have their own trucks so they have to rent one for the move, and their people are not careful or professional. One of the movers said he partied all night long and was hungover. He was not very productive. So - go with Simple Moves, you will get a good deal and not have a bad experience.

We had an appointment with Simple Moves set for over a week, for this past Saturday. It was supposed to be a small move to simply relocate a few large pieces of furniture at our current house. The window they gave us was 11am- 2pm, with the driver supposedly to call 30-45 minutes prior to arrival. At 1:40 there was no crew, and no call, so we called reception. He had no idea why they were not there. He contacted the driver, who then called us stating he didn't know why they gave us that window as he had us scheduled for the next stop after 2pm, and claimed they would be by shortly. Well by 2:30 nobody had come or called, so we called reception again. This time he stated the drivers were the ones to get the stops backwards and we were supposed to be before the current stop they were on. With apologies, he claimed they'd be by within minutes as they were on the way and close by. This was 2:45. Another half an hour disappeared, and surprise, nobody at the house and no call. We gave up, and called them to cancel the appointment. We were highly disappointed in Simple Moves for all the excuses and mixed signals between their reception and moving crew, for wasting the bulk of our day waiting, and especially for not getting the furniture pieces moved around like we hoped. We realize they are highly rated on Angieslist (which is why we chose them), but our experience was very unprofessional. We will not be trying them in the future. ** Reply to company's response below ** The fact is your crew did not contact us to update the time of arrival, we were the ones to call your office to get any information! And it is not our fault that your crew showed up to do the move over 1.5 hours past the latest quoted time, because the last time we called in and spoke to someone we canceled the appointment since we had somewhere we needed to be (arranged prior to the appointment). Apparently the message did not get to the crew. Sorry but I do feel having wasted almost 5 hours of our day for Simple Move's disorganization warrants an F.

They were very professional, very good, and we would use them again. The price was good.

Simple Movers had to reschedule my move from the week after to the current week. Originally I asked for the first appointment of the day and received it. With the reschedule I was able to obtain the second appointment of the day. I expected the movers to have major problems with the first move (which was usually the case with movers I had used in the past), I was quite surprised and pleased with Simple Movers called about 15 minutes after the time they were to move me to explain they had some delays with the first move that were unexpected (client asked them to move additional items), and that they would arrive in another 15 minutes. Two movers arrived and introduced themselves. They were very professional, polite, and efficient. Also, there was no damage to any of the items moved that day. I had received an estimate of the cost and time when I placed the order for the service. The efficiency of the movers resulted in the move being an hour less than the estimate. They placed the furniture exactly where I wanted it, and even moved it "a little this way" and "a little that way" and "oh that would look better over here." I paid the movers with my credit card and proceeded to feed my friends who continued to help me "nest" by unpacking me. The movers were invited to eat something since the move extended through the lunch hour but they politely declined. During the night I realized I had a coupon for the move which I had failed to give the movers. Since the coupon indicated it needed to be surendered at time of service, I only called the next day because "gee if you don't ask, they can't say no but they might say yes." This is a philosophy I have always used while in the business world. The agent on the phone did not hesitate and indicated he would be happy to adjust my bill and explained I would receive a credit on my card since the original charge had already gone through. Friendly, professional, police, efficient and they seem to subscribe to the theory "the customer is king" . . . or in my case "queen." I have waited some six months to give my review because I didn't want the "honeymoon period" to cloud my judgement. However, I still remember the move as being performed as excellent service.

I REALLY wanted to have a good experience with this company, since I used them because of their Angie's List reputation. We purchased a large king bedroom suite from a friend and needed professionals to move it for us from their house to ours. The two gentleman arrived on time, loaded up the set and proceeded to our home. We had a single dresser still sitting in our bedroom, which my husband asked them to move to the garage before bringing on the other set. They put it on a cart of sorts, went down a step and one loud CRACK later,the bottom drawer area was busted. They quickly said "let's just pick it up and carry it" without acknowedging the noise or damage. (My husband was able to fix this "well enough" with some wood glue and a screw. I was thankful this was the old set) Next up they had to carry in the new (and heavy) set. By the time they put the bed together they must have been trying to rush to their next job, b/c one of them used the wrong tool to twist a screw and the wood slat cracked through the other side. Again, they just kept going...if I heard the noise, pretty sure they did, too. Since my husband fixed the dresser, we decided to call in the damage claim for only the wood bed slat that was cracked through from over tightening with the wrong tool. Our options were to 1. have them come take the slat for 3 weeks to a wood shop for repair or 2. have a guy come out with some gorilla glue to fix it. They recommended the shop. But, we were not feeling it having our bed disassembled and mattress on the ground for 3 weeks and then putting the whole thing back together again. So, my husband got some gorilla glue, putty and a stain pen himself and did the best he could to fix it, because by this point we were quite sure that if someone came out to our house to fix it, it wouldn't be with much care. We paid a good amount of money for the bedroom set that was in perfect condition before it was moved. I almost hate to review them poorly, because the movers themselves were very nice guys. But, they just didn't treat our stuff as they would their own, which is what I was really hoping for.

From the first initial phone call I knew "Simple Moves" would be the best experience with movers I would have - and I was right. My partner and I had a very difficult September and a week before our move realized we wouldn't be able to tackle the move ourselves (or even with my parents, and numerous friends) - so we called "Simple Moves". The movers arrived ON TIME Saturday morning with VERY FRIENDLY, CONSIDERATE, and PROFESSIONAL movers. They not only worked tirelessly, but engaged with us and did all they could to make the move that much easier. After about 3 hours it was pretty obvious our move was too large for the truck they brought, and the two guys that had been assigned. To help our move get moving the company sent a second truck and a third guy - this was immensely helpful and because they had quoted us one way we weren't charged extra. This was MUCH appreciated. When our entire place was finally packed up we left for our new apartment and the men not only unloaded everything and put it in the designated room and place, but then dropped off all of the storage/garage items as well. It took about 8 hours in total (and the guys actually missed an appointment because ours took so long) and although it was costly it was worth every penny. I would recommend "Simple Moves" for any job big or small. If we ever need to move again, its the ONLY company we will call.

The two guys that came were very good and helpful, they worked quickly and were careful with all of my items the only reason i gave them a B for professionalism is that they said that tips are appreciated, i always find that a little annoying

They were on time, friendly, professional and got the job done. It wasn't easy, it is a very heavy refrigerator and the stairway was tight. They had to go all the way around the outside of the house to get it into our basement. They took extra care not to damage anything.

They were very patient with us as we wiped down the furniture coming out of the storage unit. They removed door frames in the basement of the new house to accomodate the washer and dryer moving in. They also reinstalled them once the pieces were in place. Nothing was damaged. They were friendly and very accomodating. We would hire them again in a minute.

This was the second time we have used Simple Moves and we will use them again. Calling to schedule the move was easy. The movers themselves were punctual, courteous and very careful. They finished the job, estimated at 2-3 hours, in just an hour and a half. They also provided helpful advice on how to store the furniture and left plenty of room in the storage unit if we should need it in the future. Also, the move was during a steady rain and they still managed to keep the furniture dry and in good shape

I used Simple Moves last spring when we moved into our house. I had a very good experience at that time, so I called them again when I needed to move a few pieces of furniture from a condo to our house. One was a large and heavy couch, so I knew my family could not handle this as well as they could. They arrived on time, as arranged, were very professional and courteous. The couch was very difficult to get into my basement. We had to try several times to get it around the column at the bottom of the stairs, but Simple Moves was able to get it done, where most movers would have probably told me it couldn't be done. They placed all four pieces of furniture exactly where I asked.

Simple Moves packed up our entire household - all of our belongings - over three days and moved us in one day from our condominium to our handicapped accessible ranch home. Both my wife and I are permanently disabled. She is a 12 year Stage 4 Colon Cancer survivor who is just restarting chemotherapy. The price of the move was very affordable, quick, and skillful. No items were broken. But several items were repacked without our permission and several items are now missing. Three rings (a 35 year old inscribed 14k yellow gold ArtCarved wedding band for my wife, a 14k yellow gold Cornell Class ring of hers and a white gold ring with diamonds and sapphires), my wife's wedding dress, and an Elizabeth Evans - the author and Arizona University professor - painting of a Cornell College Classroom which is 40 years old. All of the missing items are priceless to us. We have had professional organizers unpack us over two days and none of these items surfaced. Chris Gianino, the owner of Simple Moves, says he is fully supportive but this is between us and his employees. The police are investigating what Chris says are clearly thefts. Chris has never offered compensation. These items are worth $10,000 to us and we want compensation from Simple Moves for the actions of its employees.

The movers were punctual and tireless, and did not complain about the fact that they had to do lots of stairs. They were friendly and amiable. They moved our furniture from our small condo, so it was not a huge amount of stuff, but still an excellent price.

When I 1st called to get an estimate, I was asked exactly what I would be moving. After i gave that info, I was given an estimate considerably less than the final cost. Since the mover knew exactly what was going to be moved, an adequate size truck should have been provided. This was not the case. Because the truck was too small, it took the movers too much time in placing items so they would not have to make more than 1 trip, which was never mentioned in the original estimate. Also, I was not given the senior discount of 10% which is advertised on their website. I called the day after the move and reported the above and that they had lost one of my cushions to my wicker chair. The manager said he would look into the problems and call me back. I never received a callback and since then, my check has cleared for the full amount. I have no complaints with the movers, but the front office could definitely improve. .

I used Simple Moves several times this summer to help me complete a big move. I worked with several different crews on several different days. They were all great--very professional and courteous, worked hard to get things loaded well in the truck and placed where I wanted them. We had a really big house and were downsizing--I hardly knew where to start. Having the freedom & flexibility to call Simple Moves to come several times for a couple of hours each time was great. They would come and move the office furniture and I would set it up, then the laundry and breakfast room, etc. All of the crews' good natured attitudes really helped me through the long project. I would recommend them to anybody and would never work with anyone else!! A+++++

I did have a few complaints with the company, but I simply do not think you can beat the price of Simple Moves. I would definitely recommend it for the quality you get for your money. My big issues were when trying to schedule. I called the company asking for a quote but was told they couldn't quote me immediately because I was moving out of state (from MO to metro-east IL). The receptionist took my information and said someone would call me back with a quote soon. 5 days later and I hadn't heard from them, so I called back. I spoke with the same girl who assured me she would remind the person to call me back with a quote. Another few days went by and I still hadn't heard anything, so I called again and finally got a quote. (Which turned out to be higher than what I was actually charged, which made me happy :) ) I had scheduled my move for the 8-9am time frame but a week before the move realized I needed to switch to an afternoon slot. I called SM and asked for the afternoon slot and they said it was no problem and my move would be same day between 1-4. Well the day before the move I received a VM confirming my move the next day from 8-9am. The time slot for my move was never changed and I was not able to change it back since it was only a day away. The movers showed up at 9:30am the next day. The drivers were friendly and professional enough. They were careful with my items, but complained most of the time. It was a 2nd floor apartment with a fairly large freight elevator, which I wouldn't think would be a big deal for professional movers... I will give them that it was August and extremely hot! Again - the price outweighed any negatives, and I would use the company again.
