SCHEIDT TRUE VALUE HARDWARE

I've gone to Scheidt since we first discovered them back in 1997. This is a real hardware store with real hardware experts, who know their products, know how to help, and provide old fashioned service. I had a wheel mechanism for a sliding door that I was giving us problems. Roger, who works the counter at Scheidt, has had an answer for any problem we've thrown his way over the years. And this was no exception. All of our hardware was metric -- we couldn't find anything even close to working at Home Depot, Lowe's, and even a couple of other neighborhood hardware stores. So I decided to drive to Maplewood from where we live in Soulard. The extra drive was worth the effort. Roger looked at the roller assembly I had, said "C'mon" and headed to the back of the store. In about 2 minutes he figured out a way to make everything work. Putting all my cards on the table. "Handy" is the last thing you could call me. I'm about the least mechanically inclined guy I know. My brain just doesn't work that way!!!!!! That's why places like Scheidt are so important. What I never would have figured out, Roger figured out in no time. From great help to a real hardware store atmosphere, you can't be Scheidt. It's a true St. Louis treasure. And let's hope the big box stores never replace the Scheidt's of the world. Neighborhood hardware stores still understand the importance of service and problem solving.
