Russo Stone & Tile Design LLC

Countertops and Backsplashes, Marble and Granite, Kitchen and Bath Remodeling,

About us

From measuring to fabricating to installation, we’ll never take a shortcut. If ten steps of polish are required to get that piece of stone to where it needs to be, that’s what we’ll do. Because, there’s only one way to do this job – and that’s the right way! Long after it’s installed, we still consider your counter top as our own. We spend great time and effort creating and installing our products, so if a piece happens to get chipped years from now, we want to know about it. It’s our mission to ensure your pride in our counter top is maintained. Because there are plenty of automated machines that can “do the job,” many newcomers have ventured into the natural-stone counter top business as a way to create additional revenue. But “doing the job” correctly still requires experienced craftsmen who can hand-cut, fabricate and polish a piece of natural stone – and create a beautiful and unique piece of art. Russo Stone and Tile Design doesn't sub-contract our installations. Each of our technicians are also very experienced craftsman – trained to handle all aspects of the project during time of installation.

My granite looks fabulous! There was one small problem but Tony and his crew stood behind their work and made everything right without any problems. I now have a perfect counter-top and the seams are invisible if you don't know where to look. His crew were very polite and very considerate of my home. Do NOT be afraid to use them because of the aforementioned "problem" it was a fluke and would not happen again. I only mention it because I want you to know what a fantastic job he did about making it right. I can not rate them high enough. You will be glad you chose them. Everyone showed up ON TIME and worked hard. Moving granite is very difficult but these guys knew what they were doing and it showed!

After unsuccessfully contacting two other fabricators, Russo Stone and Tile Design was the only one interested in a complicated design and installation of granite counter tops. Tony was very detailed in laying out the templates on the granite. This was a very large project in that the kitchen and bar alone required eight slabs of the same granite. The contractor and I flew to New Jersey to select the slabs as local companies could not locate eight slabs cut in order from the same rock. Russo Stone and Tile Design arranged for the shipping and receiving of all ten slabs purchased in New Jersey and slabs from two local companies used in two other rooms.

We first started talking with Bill at Russo Stone and Tile about 1 year before the actual installation. I went to see the business and get a feel of the company. Bill was very professional and was kind enough to show me hos the process works. He gave us an estimate in the late fall and then I contacted him again after we began demolition of our kitchen in late December. He didn't seem to mind that we were taking so long to get everything done. The guys that came over to template were very professional. My husband and I met with Bill to lay out our template and he was very helpful on the best way to get the most out of the marble we chose. They were able to move up the installation a few days for use which helped our timeline for finishing the project. The installation went very smoothly and Bill was able to send out one of his guys to seal the marble a few days later. The counter top looks so beautiful and we couldn't be any happier with their services. I would use them again for any other project in our house.

This homeowner was terrific to work with. (member name removed) had a very specific design in mind and we spent a lot of time to meet her expectations. This morning she invited me back to the jobsite to see the finished project. We have these pictures posted on the Russo Facebook page. Thanks for the kind words about Russo's dedication and professionalism.

Smooth process from start to finish. First I looked at their showroom for the selection, and Tony took a copy of my kitchen layout drawings. Once we chose the countertop material, the templates were made, and two weeks later the countertops were installed. My only comment for improvement would be to apply the Angie's List discount straight away - I had to remind them a couple of times before this was actioned. (At 5% of the job, it was worth reminding them!) Still cheaper than the other two quotes I had from other suppliers. Happy customer!
Description of Work: As part of our house extension, we remodeled the kitchen, using the cabinets we already had, just needing new countertops. Russo was able to supply our choice of quartz countertop at a reasonable price. With almost 70 square feet of countertop, they installed with 2 cutouts (one for undermount sink, one for the drop-in gas cooktop). We also had a raised section behind the sink, which overlooks the family room. We love the new countertop as we went from very dark in the old kitchen, to a choice called Quartz Reflections which is a mottled white with sparkles - it looks magnificent!

Every appointment I made with the company was kept exactly on time. They Were more than patient with me as I changed my mind quite a few times before deciding on a material and color_ I never felt pressured or rushed In any way. There was a fairly long delay unexpected by and not the fault of, Sol id Sur-laces) In obtaining the material for my track splash and I was offered the option of changing to another material or color but I chose to wait tor whatever length of time it might take. I could not be happier with the end result] It was a joy working with Solid Surfaces. They did everything exactly right and I would definitely use this company again.
Description of Work: I had 3cm quartz (Caeser stone) counter tops installed in my kitchen as well as 2cm full height quartz back splash in a contrasting shade. The men from Solid Surface did all of the tear-out, and haul away as well as reconnecting the plumbing. I purchased a beautiful Eclipse Sevastopol solid stainless steel kitchen faucet from Solid Surface too - one of the best purchases I have ever made! They installed ii as well. They were very responsive to My questions and concerns. The men kept everything very tidy and clean during the whole job Tear out is a messy business under any circumstances but I think they did a lovely job of making it as painless as possible on me.

Very easy to work with. Met us at their showroom early one Saturday to pick out the CaesarStone. Building the book case took longer than expected but a representative from Solid Surface kept in touch with us to make sure they would be ready to install countertops when we were ready. Everyone we dealt with was very professional and a pleasure to deal with.

We received three bids from Angie's List vendors and also from big box stores. We had a plan of the kitchen layouts that all vendors could use for their bid and then visited them to discuss the bids. Solid Surface Solutions people were extremely helpful in discussing our needs and within a day gave us a written proposal with three alternative options. Of these we accepted the low bid for LG Viatera Galaxy Ice material. We decided to buy our own sink and faucet. Within three days of acceptance their people came to make a cardboard template of the L shaped top and explained in detail their procedure. Reba our salesperson and Rheema who schedules the job were very helpful in detailing all the work that was required, and we agreed on an installation date. John and Josh arrived early that morning, to be followed by their foreman Willie. The removal of the old top took 20 minutes and then they carefully prepared the site to install the sink and the new top. The sink was slightly smaller than our original so they had to carefully put supporting wood strips to hold it firm. Then came the Viatara top in two pieces to make the L. I was concerned about the seam between the two pieces showing, but they carefully shimmed it to be perfectly true and filled it with epoxy matching our top color. It was then epoxied all around, the hole for the sink and soap dispenser was drilled, and the whole top was meticulously cleaned. They even helped by putting our microwave oven in place. It just was an outstanding job.

I recently remodeled the entire main floor of our home myself with the exception of flooring and countertop which I decided to leave for professionals. I want to share with you, my wonderful experience that I had with, what I consider to be, a very good company. After comparing and visiting various companies in the St. Louis/St. Charles area that specialize in providing new countertops, I chose to go with Solid Surface Resources. During a lunch hour in November of 2011, I visited Solid Surface Resources. I found their cozy show room provided a well organized display of various countertop materials which allowed me to visually and easily compare side by side. A salesperson (Reba Green) was promptly available to assist me. I provided a simple sketch of my current countertop surface dimensions. I provided her with information as to what I was looking for in a countertop material such as colors, patterns and edge types. After quickly showing me the wide selection of materials for consideration that they provide, she showed me a quartz product from LG that perfectly matched our project specifications. After viewing the display of color selections, I was able to quickly narrow down to 3 color choices. My salesperson (Reba Green) was able to provide me with a couple of scrap samples from the on-site shop which I was able to keep and take home and match up with flooring and paint samples. Based on the dimensions I provided Reba, she was able to email me a detailed estimate on the same day of my visit. That evening my wife and I compared the sample provided by Solid Surface Resources with other sample material we had from other companies. We decided we liked the LG Quartz material and color the best. The overall cost estimate from Solid Surface Resources was actually a little more reasonable than other estimates we had from other companies. The next day, we notified our salesperson (Reba) that we were interested in them for this project. And that I was a couple weeks out from contacting them again to have them come out and measure for new countertops I was installing. A couple weeks later as planned, we informed the company that we were ready for them to come out and measure for a new countertop. Within two business days (Greg) came out and carefully took detailed measurements and notes. He then carefully reviewed the specifications with me and I verified the final plans. From what I understand, it normally takes 2 weeks or more from measurement to install. However, to accommodate my tight project schedule, Solid Surface Resources was able to install our new countertop only 1 week after measurement. The installers came out seemed very experienced and did a good job installing the (company provided) sink to the countertop, and then the countertop and backsplash to the cabinets. I'm glad I left this to the professionals. During the entire process, Solid Surface Resources responded quickly and thoroughly to any questions and inquiries (through phone or email) from my first visit to after project completion. They kept me well informed as to progress during the process which was key to keep up with my tight schedule. MY COUNTERTOP from Solid Surface Resources IS MAGNIFICENT AND GETTING LOTS OF COMPLIMENTS FROM EVERYONE THAT SEE'S IT. Now that my home remodeling project is completed, I wanted others to know that I'm a very satisfied customer of Solid Surface Resources and would recommend them for ANY projects that require the use of materials such as marble, granite, quartz and a few others that this company offers.

Not one thing to complain about. From start to finish - going to the showroom and explaining what I was looking for, to them finding a new color with the product line that was a price I could afford, to the fast installation and not a problem at any point.
Description of Work: 2 different colored countertops installed and my black and white cabinets. They took the extra step to help find a supplier that would supply to different colors (dark for white cabinets; light for black cabinets) and I am so happy with the results. They offered great advice, the employees who did the work were very kind and also offered recommendations on some of the decisions like backsplash or not. I would highly recommend this company because they are small and treat you with that one-on-one attention each customer deserves.

For us, our kitchen remodeling project was on and off, so it took quite awhile from start to finish. We worked with Geoff during most of that time, and he was courteous, patient and responsive to us, and always on time. He answered all our questions. The templating was professionally done. Our island granite countertop design called for a irregular shape, and the template person was patient and worked with us to get the right shape. I know some other granite fabrication companies use the newer laser technology which is supposedly more accurate. But I am really glad that SSR used the template because we can actually see the shape with the template. The installation went smoothly. The long side counter is longer than the stone itself, so there needs to be a joint. They did a good job in selecting the joint location and hiding the joint as much as possible. Although that left a gap from the countertop to the wall, our excellent contractor said no problem and built the wall thicker afterwards. We also have granite backsplash behind the cooktop. That required a another templating, on the same day of the original installation. And a second installation trip, a few days later. After the installation, we noticed some "scratch marks" on the quartz and some fissures on the granite. The repair crew came in to rebluff and filled in the fissures. They all turned out beautiful. A couple of items to note. They seem to be busier than other companies, so the lead time for the fabrication is somewhat longer than others, schedule the installation dates early. We previously understood that the granite slabs are rated A, B, C and D, and with their corresponding price levels. When Goeff went with us to select the granite slabs, we really like one particular slab. Geoff said that will be even more expensive than the D granites, and said this was an exotic class stone and had to be priced separately. We ended up paying much more to get this slab. While we are very happy with the granite selection and the work that was done by SSR, this one situation put a small question-mark in the back of our mind. Overall, we are very happy with Goeff and SSR services.

In one of those rare cases of perfect timing, a few days after I subscribed to Angie's List their Big Deal was 48" granite countertop replacement for $349. I was in the process of getting bids from other contractors for a 48" granite wet bar top replacement, the first of which had just come in obscenely high, so it was a no-brainer to take advantage of this Big Deal. The first step was to set up an appointment to take measurements, a few days after which we went to look at the stone samples at Solid Surface Resources. The one we liked most was a few inches too small so we went with our second choice. I think the Big Deal offer was meant for a bathroom vanity but they were flexible in making it work for a bar install. Installation was quick and painless, though I had to remove the old bartop / sink (due to the deal terms) and, post-install, redo the plumbing because it interfered with the sink. End result - it's awesome! Their work was first-rate and their communication and follow-through was appreciated.

The first thing we did was research granite fabricators on Angie's list, SSR had quite a few positive reports, and their customer service awards put them over the top as compared to some of the other fabricators, so we decided to contact them for an estimate, we had already received 2 other estimates, and all 3 were within $100 of each other so we decided to choose the fabricator with the best reviews on Angie's list. We worked with Geoff, who was very helpful with the design phase. Geoff came over and looked at the kitchen prior to any cabinets being installed. Actually, the kitchen was completely empty when Geoff came by on his first visit. We had gutted the kitchen to the bare brick, and were in the process of having it drywalled when Geoff came by to review the plans. He gave his estimate based on the design we furnished from our cabinet supplier. Once the drywall and cabinets were in place, Geoff came back for one more look, to make sure everything would work as planned. After reviewing the plan, Geoff then sent a template person over to fabricate the templates needed to cut the granite to the design specs. We were then invited to the shop to see the 2 slabs we had purchased, and to lay out the various template pieces on each slab to our liking. About 1 week later, they sent a crew over to install the counter tops, which was completed in 1/2 day. They made a 2nd trip out to install the back splash. Once completed, we were very happy with the entire process. Everything came out just as we had pictured it to be. The install crew did meticulous work in setting the counter top, and making the entire experience an enjoyable one.

I called Geoff Luegger at Solid Surface Resources out of the blue one day after looking online to find a St. Louis Paperstone manufacturer. Although I decided not to get Paperstone, I was very impressed by the time he spent with me over the phone on that first call and I decided to let him bid my countertop job. I was not using a general contractor for my kitchen, so I had some flexibility with regard to which company we chose, but the downside of that is that many fabricators and installers do not attend to you the way they attend to contractors they work with often, or contractors they want to work with often. To me, in addition to price, product, and knowledge, a company that treats what is likely to be a one-time customer with respect and promptness is worth raving about. I really appreciated the fact that as I was deciding which product to go with, Geoff answered all my questions honestly and in a timely way. We made contact both over the phone and via email while I was deciding what to buy. I went to their workshop and showroom to learn more about the fabrication process. But I also appreciated that he could tell it was going to be a process and he was patient with me and my questions. He was also understanding of our budget and suggested ideas to keep the price in line. Geoff gave me passes to several local granite wholesalers, and met me at two of them to help choose granite. I had three companies bid the job. SSR was not the cheapest, but I was confident they would do a good job because their questions to me were more thorough and they were so professional, so I went with them. I am so glad I did! First, Geoff spent a while with me laying out the template on the stone so it was just right. Second, I thought the installers were very polite and nice to have around. Third, Geoff was clear about the time it would take from templating to install, and it wound up being just over a week, so it was very timely despite the fact that they were clearly busy. Fourth, they drilled the holes for the counters on site, so I could make good choices about where the faucets would go in relation to my workspace. Fifth, the company's owner stopped by during the installation to check out the work (and the unusual granite I had chosen!), which was really nice. Finally, the installers spent a lot of time with me afterward, showing me how to care for the granite and answering all my questions about sealers and maintenance products. Overall, my experience with Solid Surface Resources was a very positive one, and I would recommend them without reservation.

My previous cook top burned out and any replacements required a larger opening. They were able to come the next day after I called, The workers were efficient, pleasant and neat. They cleaned up most of the mess that cutting always causes. If I could give them an A+ I would. they were professional and able to help me out the week before Christmas. I would recommend them highly!
Description of Work: I needed the opening in my granite countertop enlarged for a different cppktop. This involved cutting/ginding the opening larger. They used a vacuum to pick up much of the dust AS they cut and then cleaned up after themselves in the area surrounding the cook top.

My sales rep Kelly was very professional, as were all the people I interacted with. I solicited bids from 3 different companies, contacted 6 overall, and they were the clear choice. I'm very picky and even though they were as much as $1500 less than the high bid I was confidant that quality would not be compromised. I was very pleased with the results and would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to my family or friends.

I was not satisfied. They did show up and spoke with my wife but then we didn't hear anything from them. It was very, very bad. The initial impression was good but the final impression was bad. They were very fast in the beginning. I went with another company because they did follow through so they were out of consideration. I was satisfied with the time when they first came out.

SSR went to the customer's home on 7/13/11 to measure and review scope of project. On 7/14/11 SSR provided a detailed written Price Proposal and sent via e-mail. SSR followed-up again on 7/22/11. The customer never responded to our two follow-up attempts. Additionally, we never received notice of e-mail failure. The Angie's List negative report was posted by the customer in November 2011; +90 days after initial contact. During the initial consultation, the customer said she might change her cabinets. As such, we suggested that she wait for new countertops until the cabinet replacement was completed. SSR takes great price in timely responses and providing a written detailed Price Proposal. In fact, our Price Proposal is the most detailed in the STL marketplace. We are disappointed to hear this customer did not like our customer service.

Solid Surface Resources were incredible-every staff member was friendly & went above & beyond to make sure we were happy. They were attentive to our needs, responsive to our questions & accommodating. The sales representative came prepared, was knowledgeable about all facets of counter tops. She delivered her cost proposals ahead of time, made changes to her schedule to accommodate the selection of granite, was quick to provide an updated proposals when we selected a more expensive granite, was willing to negotiate pricing where possible. She offered to order my special faucet from her suppliers to save me money, e.g., she gave me wholesale price vs. the retail price I had identified. The customer service staff were great-very helpful. The service reps were incredible-they gentleman who came to measure the template made sure I understood exactly what he was doing & why it was an important component of the project, e.g., it would be used to actually fabricate the granite. He explained the various markings & their importance to the fabricator. The gentlemen who came out to tear out the old granite & install the new were so nice & clearly experts, which actually convinced us we needed to replace the remaining granite. To avoid delay, the gentleman came out the next morning to create the template & the remaining granite was fabricated & installed in less than 10 days. A friend of mine is an interior designer & I recommended that she consider Solid Surface Resources for all her counter top projects.
Description of Work: Our existing granite counter tops were installed by our builder's vendor who installed defective materials, e.g., they apparently had run short on the granite materials (didn't have enough to correctly install) and instead of re-fabricating a new slab they installed them incorrectly which, in turn, caused the granite to rupture & crack in such a way it couldn't be repaired. To make matters worse, the builder's vendor had filed bankruptcy & was no longer in business. We called Solid Surface Resources & asked if they could evaluate the problem & offer possible solutions. We were confident the counter tops would have to be replaced & they confirmed the crack was so significant it could not be repaired. The Sales Representative came prepared to discuss all possible options. e.g., just replace the damaged counter with an alternative slab because it was impossible to match the existing selection OR replace all counter tops with a new selection OR choose a non-granite counter selection. After discussing the options, we decided to consider 2 options-replace the damaged counter with a granite selection that would complement the remaining counters OR replace all. She measured for both options & committed to provide an estimate within 24 hours. By the next morning, we had both proposals & selected to replace only the damaged counter. The company was willing to negotiate certain costs to make the project meet within our allocated budget & she accommodated our schedule & met with us to pick the granite slabs at their provider's warehouse the following day. After picking the granite, she was quick to provide an updated proposal because we selected a more expensive granite than had been priced in the original proposal. I selected a new faucet & they offered to order it so that I could take advantage of wholesale vs retail costs. Because we had to wait for the granite slabs to clear customs, Solid Surface Resources worked us into their schedule to expedite installation. After they installed the replacement piece, it was so beautiful we decided to replace all of the counter tops with the new granite. To ensure we had a slab from the original lot, they contacted their granite supplier & were able to secure the last slab from the original lot. To minimize costs, they used the excess from the original granite slab & only charged us for the portion of the new slab that was required to finish the additional counter tops. I have never worked with any company that was more customer-centric. All facets of the project were delivered before their committed time frame-e.g., cost estimates, installation, etc.

Our sales rep Geoff first met us in the showroom and then at the granite yards to pick out our granite. Due to our indecision, we went to many granite yards to make a decision on the type of granite and Geoff was very accommodating on providing new estimates. After we finally made up our minds, Geoff was also accommodating on changing our scheduled installation date due to delays in the cabinet installation. SInce our granite has a lot of movement and is not patterned, Geoff had us come down and lay out the pieces and cuts in the fab area. Geoff did a great job of explaining how things will lay out so we could pick the right pieces for each area of the countertop. As soon as the cabinets were installed, someone came out to do a full template of the counter. Installation was a little rough, since the piece that fits between two walls was so tight it got stuck. They called another installer out and he helped get the piece removed an placed properly. After that, things went smoothly and the installation only took a few hours. The seams look very good and we are extremely pleased with our countertops.
Description of Work: Fabricated and installed new granite countertops in kitchen of approx. 50 sq. ft.)
