To be fair, the work they do is good. It's getting them to actually do it that's hard. I have a branch that's falling down from my oak. It's putting my fence and my neighbor's small kids and their swing set at risk. Over a week ago, I called them for a quote to take it down, do some cutting out of the dead stuff, and fertilize the tree. "No problem, we'll get right on this - I'll mark this urgent/emergency, I'll get the quote done right away, and as soon as you accept the quote, we'll get right out here." Two days later, I had to call them to even get the quote. I accepted immediately. Five days later, I had to call them again to ask if they were ever going to show up. "We'll be there on the 29th." (In two weeks!) I asked about their "urgent/emergency" status. I was told they would call back. They called back. "We'll be there tomorrow." They were not. I called them AGAIN. "We'll get back to you." They did not. I called them. "We'll be there Monday." I am not holding my breath at this point. I have to call my neighbors, explain to them why their kids can't go near their swing set for the fourth time. I'm hoping it doesn't take out my fence. I'm left to hope that they MIGHT show up on Monday. Understand this: I have used this company for years. They have done Landscaping, Sod replacement, Removed a sick tree, even put up my fence that's in danger of coming down. I've given them faithfully and on time Thousands, if not tens of thousands of dollars. I believe I've gone through this repeatedly calling them to do the work with every job I have had them do. Again, they actually do really good work. Maybe I don't live in the right zip code. Maybe that's the problem. But I've been a loyal customer for several years and several projects, and this is how they treat me. I doubt I call them again. They should probably reconsider a name change from Reliable. It's not exactly on brand.

The 3 man crew were friendly and cleaned up all debris. One climber, 2 watchers and debris men. All trimming & dead wooding was done neatly. Within a week, after the job was complete, a 35 foot dead limb fell and nearly tore our screens on our patio room. The next storm a few weeks later took down another 35+ foot limb. Clearly, not all the dead wood was removed during the job. Reliable's price for the job was much more than the usual, but the owner impressed me with his knowledge. The crew said the job costs are so high because the owner is a member of several professional organizations and the overcharges pay for his dues.! Will not hire again.

As usual, Reliable Landscaping & Tree care did a fantastic job. I had them trim several trees a few years back, and they did such a good job that I called them back. The workers were professional, precise, and did exactly what I wanted them to do. Great communication skills, honest, knowledgeable, and the online payment option made making my payment fast and easy. Thank you so much for your work and I look forward to asking for your services again in the future.

It didn't. I hire a lot of contractors from Angie's List. When I need service, I call down the list of recommended contractors. I'll take bids from the first 2-3 that respond the fastest and hire one from that group. If the others call me back I let them know that the job has already been completed and we go our separate ways. Not this company. They insisted they needed my address for their "book". I asked why they needed my address and they said "to get me on the books". I let them know I didn't need to be in the book. We then got disconnected (bad service area) and I thought this was over. Nope, he called me back insisting on getting my address (wasting mine and his companies time). I asked one more time, "why do you need my address?" He then said "Fine I'll just take you off the books" and hung up on me. In this day and age, you can't be rude to potential customers. You could have easily said "thanks for the opportunity and hopefully we can do business in future". Instead, you got an F.

We have used Reliable service at our other house, as Reliable was nearby and also was the lawn service for our friend/neighbor. Their prices can be a bit high, but the quality of their workmanship was excellent. They gave us a bid, so we knew exactly how much things would cost. They were very good at doing all we asked. We are planning to use them, soon.

They used a riding lawn mower to mow my small lot. They don't bag or rake the clippings. I decreased half of the mowed area when I installed a swimming pool in the back yard, yet the bill remained the same until I called to protest. Rather than adjust the bill by half (reflecting the actual amount of lawn serviced) they reduced the bill a mere 25%. They are reliable and show up every week, rain or shine. My big complaint is the price. I bought a lawn mower and do it myself!

Arranged for bamboo to be removed that I had previously cut. Came and removed within the week. I also got quotes for a tree removal and trimming. Will contact them again in the future when ready to proceed.

They showed up on the date as promised and did the work efficiently. They hauled away all debris. We were very satisfied with the job and have used them multiple times.

Really badly. Lee and I agreed by phone to a time of 2:30 to 2:45. He arrived at 3:30. When I asked about why he said, 'we agreed to anytime after 2:30,' then proceeded to chastise me for asking since he'd had so far to drive. Didn't shake my hand upon meeting, though given every opportunity. Said both trees were one breed, then changed his mind, saying both should come down, they are weeds. Lee then asked who I'd heard from as to arborists, then proceeded to dis Ray's Tree Service who 'may or may not have sent an arborist.' Lee was insulting and condescending in tone in general. Then he said, 'I'm going to pass on this job.' He explained that his crew would have to drive as far as St. Louis City from South County, has no bucket truck, would think the wires to drop were too complicated to do. The job is a stand of 2 trees and brush with both trees 100 feet tall. Seems a simple job to me. Lee also explained to me how a small business works: he has to pay his workers from the time they leave his lot. I own my own small business, I think I understand without a lecture. Then why did you come 'all this way' to the City if you had no intention of working here?

I called for an estimate and Lee came out within a couple of days to do so. I showed him the trees I wanted removed and he gave me an estimate that I thought was very reasonable. I had trees removed years earlier from the front and cost more per tree from a different company. I agreed to the contract and Lee told me that it would take about three (3) weeks because this was a busy time with spring coming. Lee called in about 2 1/2 weeks to check if we were ready for them to do the tree removal. They came on Friday morning and cut down 2 trees but got rained out before finishing. We had a lot of rain that weekend so they couldn't return until Tuesday. They were back at 7:00 am on Tuesday morning and completed the job by 12 pm. I was impressed by their use of safety equipment and attention to detail. Everything was hauled off and cleaned up, and for the price agreed upon.

On the 26th of January the wind split our tree in the front yard. They came out on the 27th and gave me an estimate. On the 29th they came and cut the tree down and later that afternoon they came and removed the stump.

Provider came out and gave an estimate for two retaining walls in my back yard. They were very professional, on time and did a great job. I would certainly recommend these guys again. They worked hard and completed the job as they had stated. They were very informative when I had questions and had lots of patience when I was deciding on the color that I wanted.

They gave me an estimate very quickly. I called to confirm but they didn't set a date just added me to the list and said they'd get to it. After a week and a half passed without any kind of indication they were coming I called to cancel the job. I was on a time crunch to get grass planted before it got cold so I could put my house on the market. Obviously my job was too small for them to get to. Now I'm left with seeling the house with bare spots in the yard because I waited for them. Also if you want stumps removed use Stump-Ic-ide, they're 1/3 the cost of reliable and do an excellent job.

I don't have the exact day of completion readily available. I could not be happier with the work that was performed by Reliable Landscaping. They were on time for the appointments and the two guys that built my two retaining walls in the back of my house were very knowledgeable. I am very satisfied and will definitely have them back to do more work.

Reliable gave us a detailed estimate of the work and told us they would put us at the top of their list, due to the danger posed by the trees. About 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. Turns out they got to us in one week. The work was done in 2 days, including cleaning up the yard and removing the stumps. They even cleaned ALL the leaves out of our back yard!! (Big time saver for us). They left everything in great shape. Some friends told us other services may be cheaper, but with the fences and the house so close, we feel better safe than sorry. We trust these people.

Returned my call promptly, to schedule an estimate. Gave us the estimate, we accepted. One of the trees was in the electric lines so he had to contact UE. Called as soon as the date was set. It rained that day, and he called promptly to let us know that the work wasn't to be done that day per UE. Set the date for the next week. The workers arrived on time, started preliminary work waiting for UE. We had to leave so didn't see the actual work, but when we arrived home the work was finished, they had cleaned up, and stacked the wood we wanted cut up for the wood stove.

The guy who came out for the quote seemed very knowledgeable. I have had quite a few quotes before him and nobody else had mentioned that the tree really needed cabling. He was the first one who mentioned that. He was very knowledgeable. He was an arborist. They were very quick to come out and do the work. We got the quote on 30th April and they came out the following week. I would use them in the future.

One of my best experiences with a contractor!

There was delay due to weather that was communicated to me. When they showed up they went right to work and never knew they were here until they finished. Looking back on it I wish I would have been consulted before they left because I could have pointed out limbs that were missed. I do not feel they interested in doing the job to my satisfaction.

Fast quote, timely service, quality work. What more could you ask?

I got a bid back in September of 2010. I was able to save up the money and made an appointment to get job done. Increase in estimate went up only $25 due to rise in gas prices. Which I feel is very fair. They called to let me know when they would be able to come, and was here on time. I felt very comfortable hiring this company, because they are bonded and have two arborist on staff. I probably could get a cheaper rate going with the "guy off the street", but the peace of mind that I had was well worth it. I was very impressed with the clean up that these men did. You can't even tell that a whole tree and some major limbs from another tree was taken down today. Thank you!

I called Reliable Landscaping and Tree Care right after the big storm hit, not because we had storm damage but because we had two trees that needed pruned, a holly tree measuring a good 30-35' tall and an old pin oak, at least 50-60' tall. I called two other companies and left messages, Lee was the only one who returned my call. He came out promptly that weekend to give a bid; it was more expensive than I expected, but the pin oak is a big tree and he would have to take down the power and phone lines to both my and my neighbor's house. I called him later and asked if we could do just the holly tree for now; he indicated that as we are not in his regular service area, it is not cost effective for him to send two people out to do one tree for $275. However, he did indicate he would try to work this job in when he had other jobs in the area, to minimize drive time. Approximately 7-10 days later he called to indicate he would have two men by the next day to trim the tree; I came home from work early to pay them, but they were already gone. The tree still looks a little 'pregnant', but holly trees grow their leaves on the ends of the branches, and if you trim too much branch away it leaves the tree looking 'sticky' until next season when the leaves regrow. All in all, I'm happy with the work. All debris was clean, he was professional and punctual, and when I can afford the pin oak I will hire him again.

When I hadn't received a call back, I returned my call two days later and reached Mr. Mueller. I pleasantly shared that I had called a few days earlier and had left my information for general fall cleanup of our yard, to which he insisted (quite curtly) that he had never received record of my request. We went back and forth on this detail; his abrupt nature and lack of desire to provide "customer" service finally turned me off, at which point I terminated the conversation. Regardless of whether he received the information on my request from his secretary, here was an opportunity to make an impression on a new customer just by being pleasant, and he blew it. Needless to say, this company didn't present themselves as being very "Reliable," as their name purports.
