Description of Work: Replaced our upstairs furnace/AC. We have used them for almost 10 years and they have been responsive, helpful, answering my many questions and have done quality work. They give alternatives when cost is a high priority and it seems to me they have always been very honest about options (keep going with old unit or time to replace it).

Description of Work: Serviced & cleaned gas furnace. Serviced & cleaned air conditioner (replaced contactor for condenser on unit). Disconnected 3" flex pipe from roof & rerouted exhaust line to outside overhang eaves because pipe was leaking into the bathroom ceiling.

Description of Work: We live in a two story colonial that never cooled well in the heat of the summer, with a significant temperature difference between the upstairs and downstairs. We had been using Rathgeber Heating, Inc. regularly for almost ten years for maintenance work on our heating and air conditioning system. It became clear early last summer that we needed a new air-conditioning system and Mr. Rathgeber had always maintained that the high-efficiency furnace in our home had been installed wrong for the previous owners, without the appropriate air intake from outside the home. I asked him whether it would be possible to separate the upstairs heating/AC from the downstairs and have two independent systems. He said that would be the best way to eliminate the temperature differential. I also explored this idea with several other heating contractors in town and most were unwilling to separate the two floors, they recommended dampers that would block the air to one floor or the other at appropriate time of the year. I learned from reading and contacting friends with such systems that the dampers were likely to fail and need frequent maintenance. I also explored geothermal technology but found that the contractors could not separate the two floors. Mr. Rathgeber was the only contractor who took the blueprints to our home to study and calculate our actual needs. He said that the furnace we had was two big for the house and was put in at a time when fuel was inexpensive. In the end we went with Mr. Rathgeber and spent the money to have two new independent systems installed in our home. It has been a year and we could not be happier. We are able to accurately control our heating and air-conditioning and the new systems resulted in a 50% reduction in our electricity bill for the past year. I never thought we would save so much so quickly.

Description of Work: I used Rathgeber Heating Co for repairing our furnace last month. Our air conditioning system started leaking from yesterday and they would be coming in today to repair.
