 + -1 moreWe have been using Pete and his support team at our mid sized company for over 3 years now. He's responsive, personable, friendly, listens to our needs, but most of all knows technology like no one else. He setup our office IT, server, network, backups, copier, WiFi, smartphones etc from ground up and problems are rare. When they occur he usually fixes things remotely, if not, is prompt to make an office visit to address the issue. I really don't want to leave this review because we don't want him to get "too busy" but he deserves it.

 + -1 morePete is absolutely wonderful! He is pleasant to work with and went out of the way doing research and making sure that we purchased the correct systems for our unique and challenging set up. Not only did he come to the office over multiple weeks and made sure that everything was set up and working correctly, he made sure I was informed every step of the way and had a true understanding of what the set up was and how to troubleshoot it. Pete is now our "go-to" guy for any technical issue we come across we are more than happy with the quality of his work.
Description of Work: Pete came into our office building and did a complete overhaul on our wireless network, back-up system, antivirus systems, for over 35 individual computers. He also troubleshooted printer problems and other technical issues that arose while he was in the office.

He successfully and efficiently addressed all of my concerns and made a number of other recommendations regarding my network and set up. He was really really pleasant and very knowledgeable. In the past, I've dealt with "pc gurus" who spoke their own language and turned what I thought should be simple into something overly complicated. It was a real pleasure to have someone come in and fix the issues so that ease of use is better rather than more convoluted!
Description of Work: Moved data from older machine to new Windows 8.1 machine; removed bloatware; made 8.1 more user friendly (desktop based), and helped clean up errors tied to pst and other Office weirdness. Also fixed printer errors that were happening with another Windows machine.

When he arrived he quickly discovered that one of our main issues was that our network was wired completely wrong and a real mess. He was successful in troubleshooting our issues and was very knowledgeable and thorough. We would recommend him to other businesses.

 + -1 moreIt went very well - this is the second time we've used this provider because we were so happy with the service on another unrelated repair. A replacement keyboard was ordered from the manufacturer and installed. However that keyboard also didn't work. The service provider noticed that the failure of the second keyboard caused different problems than the original problem that brought the laptop in to begin with. The service provider notified us that the second keyboard appeared to have failed, and that he had contacted the manufacturer [Dell] and argued with them so that they would provide a 3rd keyboard. The 3rd keyboard arrived 5 days later, was installed and worked like a charm. The service provider kept to his original estimate for the job - which included labor and parts, even though he had incurred much more time than he originally envisioned because of the need to contact the manufacturer and do the installation twice. Very happy with the provider.
Description of Work: The keyboard broke on my laptop. It was repaired.

 + -1 moreI am now able to stream video to my TV using my Roku 2 box. The stronger signal provides a much more enjoyable experience with excellent audio and video, including HD, without any jerkiness or annoying interruptions. My Kindle Fire tablet connects to my WiFi more easily, allowing me to enjoy that device anywhere in my home.
Description of Work: Pete evaluated the WiFi network in my home. I was having a problem with a weak signal in the farthest rooms from my router. He installed a stronger router, updated the software drivers on all connected devices, repositioned the new router and extender to maximize signal strength, checked that all my wireless devices were then working well all over the house. He also gave me many good ideas that were very valuable.

Description of Work: Have used this service in the past with very good results. This time we asked Pete to connect remotely to an older pc we have that was running out of disk space. He responded promptly as usual and was able to clean out some used programs, resulting in the pc's running better. Pete also advised us about the need to update our equipment and said that he would be available to provide advice as to best options.

Description of Work: Pete Slonka has been my computer "doctor" for over six years. He is very knowledgeable about almost any computer issue, he's accessible, he always resolves my computer problems/glitches in a timely manner, and he's reasonably priced. I typically have at least one problem a year that needs to be addressed - either a virus or an upgrade - and Pete always takes care of me and gets the job done and done well. One huge benefit, he can do a lot of the work remotely so you don't always need to have him come to you or bring your computer to him. As a small business owner and somebody often on the road this is a huge plus. I recently had Pete help me out by purchasing a refurbished laptop for me and migrating my data from a pc to a laptop and I can't say enough about how smooth the process was, how happy I have been with my laptop and the data migration, and what a pleasure it was to work with Pete. If you are looking for proven, reliable and fairly priced computer repair related assistance Pro PC Service/Pete Slonka is in my opinion the place to go.

He determined what he would need to do to solve the problem and recovered the data by the next business day, sending me a link where I could download it conveniently. Pete was very prompt and knowledgeable. He took the time to understand exactly what I did, and didn't, need. His work was of great quality and was a great value. I am very likely to use him again soon and would certainly recommend him to others.

He's comfortable to work with and knowledgeable. He saved us from what could have been a very trying process (how would we have known the correct wireless settings for our antiquated cable box?). I recommend him highly, and I would call him again without question.
Description of Work: We bought two new laptops and a wireless router to replace one seven-year old PC with a hardwired connection. Pete set up our wireless, moved the files onto their appropriate laptops (my husband and I are no longer sharing), installed software, customized, arranged things so our old printer and MP3 players work, etc.

 + -1 morePete was fantastic and we are really pleased. From the first call, he was helpful and walked us through the steps to try in a clear, easy to follow manner. He tried fixing the problem remotely and when it became apparent that the computer needed personal attention, he was able to help immediately. The emails he sent kept us up to date on his progress. He did a lot of work and it was done by the next day. It turned out that the computer needed some major help. When booted up, it had a blue screen and crashed. It took almost 10 minutes to boot up. There were many viruses, malware and my son was getting bogus charges on his debit card, probably from a downloaded virus. We told Pete about all these problems and my son was worried he would lose the music and files he valued. Pete worked miracles and saved all the data. He put in virus and malware protection. He upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. The computer is working fast and perfectly now! Everything that wasn't supposed to be there is gone. Couldn't be more pleased!
Description of Work: My son's computer was infected with multiple viruses, malware and who knows what. I called Pete and we realized he would have to work on it in person. He let me bring it over immediately (I was off work for the morning). He analyzed the problem, began working on it and kept us up to date by email as he worked. He cleaned the computer, installed malware protection and upgraded to Windows 7. It was done by the next morning, and even better, not one piece of data was lost! Pete's work was fast and far exceeded my expectations.

 + -1 morePete responded promptly to my call- explained what was likely to happen, and we arranged a time for me to drop off the computer. He told me he would not work on the problem until that night. He called the following afternoon to say that the virus was not as bad as he expected it might have been. He installed a new virus protection program, and had removed the virus. No files were lost. I had the computer back within 48 hours. I'd definitely use him again (although hope I don't need to).

 + -1 morePete was very professional, knowledgeable, and efficient getting the job done. He was a real pleasure to work with and I would definitely use him again. We needed to improve a number of things related to our home wireless and wired network including areas of poor reception in the house and he solved all our problems for this. Also he cleaned up a 2 year old Dell desktop and a 6 year old Sony Laptop that I thought I was going to have to replace. He made it work practically like new, so that it now works very fast and I won't have to buy a new laptop. All this and he is also a very friendly and pleasant guy to be around - he was in our house working for over 4 hours.
Description of Work: Updated home wireless network and improved in house reception, updated and cleaned up a Dell desktop and Sony laptop. Worked on home ethernet network to liven up a number of dead jacks to make it functional. Update firmware on Apple Airport as well.
