4 days ago I was warned to stay away from Pool Tron for multiple reasons, primarily because the company overcharges. However I hired them anyway for weekly service, maintenance and repairs because they seemed professional and also have the capability to take care of our problematic automatic pool cover. I am willing to pay more for superior, dependable work and peace of mind. However, I immediately noticed that they were adding more chemicals than our previous company and our monthly bills were much higher. I decided to trust Pool Tron to know more than others about what our pool needed and did not challenge the bills. Then there were costly mistakes, and a couple big ticket repairs needed. For one, the project did not begin until 8 months after the contract was signed, took 3 weeks to complete, was very messy, and the charge alarmingly higher than the verbal bid. After lengthy discussions, we agreed to a compromise payment. Last summer we needed to clean the cover trough, and replace the ropes and sliders. I was told that the ropes and sliders had not been replaced when we bought a new cover a few years earlier. Looking back at the invoices, I discovered this was not true. All three of these jobs were done on separate trips, each one requiring removing stones from the pool deck and having a caulker come to replace them. It was inconvenient and very expensive. On multiple occasions, we were charged double the retail prices for parts, and then an absurd amount of salt. In 2018 alone, we were billed for 38 bags of salt. After discussions with one of the Pool Tron technicians, other pool owners and pool companies, and online articles, we were embarrassed to learn that salt water pools typically need only a couple bags upon opening, and then possibly more later in the summer after a big rain or leak. Clearly Pool Tron had determined that we were stupid or wealthy enough not to notice, and they could get away with this injurious act. I had decided after closing the pool in the fall that we needed to discontinue our business with Pool Tron. I had not entered into a contract with a new company because I dreaded the time sink involved in a search. Then the coronavirus quarantine and shut down caused further delays. Now all the recommended pool companies are overbooked. I did not plan to fire Pool Tron until I had another service in place. When I called the service manager a few weeks ago to discuss the salt charges, and the replacement of an undersized T-Cell they had sold us 2 years ago, I was told that they were discontinuing our service immediately due to the "profit margin". That left us without anyone taking care of our pool at a very busy time. After testing the water ourselves, we discovered Poot Tron has put so much salt into the pool that we may have to drain it and start with fresh water in order to get the level correct. Our experience with Pool Tron was stressful, expensive and traumatic. It is extremely upsetting that a well reputed company in our community could operate in such a dishonest manner.

It was in the range of over $70,000. They did a great job. I learnt later, how pricey they were. We didn't do enough research before we hired them. I wouldn't recommend them because I think they are very over-priced.
Description of Work: We actually put a pool and a spa. It was about 17 years ago. We used them for a few years also, for opening and closing and things like that.

They are expensive, but you get what you pay for. I loved Pool Tron. It's just too expensive. If you call them and say something happened, they will be there bang to fix it. To do my yearly pool was like a third more than what O'Brien wants. I bought a package from O'Brien and it was like $2900 for all the pool services all summer as a package, and Pool Tron was over $3500. He was a lot more, but you get what you pay for.
Description of Work: I used Pool Tron when I used to have a different house and then they built my pool here so for the first couple of years we just used them.

We bought our home in November of 2011 and had a lot of remodeling done. Pooltron was the only company that totally disappointed. The tile and grout falls out and is constantly laying in the pool. Absolutely no warranty of any value was included. We had them do the weekly pool service the first year - literally double to triple cost of what we now pay with Baker. I have invoices to prove that as well. A company with absolutely no integrity!!!

The process of actually getting some drawings and a bid for the pool seemed to take a very long time, we first talked to Dennis in September, and first saw plans in november, and settled on a design in late december. We entertained bids from two other builders, and all of them were pretty similar, but we went with pool tron because they did our neighbor's pool and our neighbors were vary happy with their experience. After discussing the initial design, which was too expensive Dennis managed to get the pool price within our budget by cutting back on some extravagances. Permitting and various approvals took another couple of months, and they started digging in the beginning of march. by early april, the pool was full of water and I went for my first (albeit a little chilly) swim. This felt very fast for such a major project, on most of the days they had crews of roughly 10 people digging in the yard (and because we don't have a ton of space, there was a lot of hand digging to avoid uprooting trees. All along the way, I was impressed with the quality of the work. Pool Tron does all the work themselves (with the exception of the electrician, and the plastering) so they were always responsive to our changes and flexible with the plans, and I think for this reason things went by really quickly. In the end, the project cost almost 10k more than the original estimate, but we were aware of the potential extra costs for things such as root removal, nicer materials etc. I was also impressed by how careful and thoughtful they were. They tied back our neighbors trees so as not to damage them, when they repeatedly cut through our cable internet cable, they repeatedly repaired it or called charter etc. When they accidentally left with our shovels, Gary had them bring by a selection of new shovels within an hour, and they even offered to help us haul some top soil we were moving.

Called them wanting a bid for installing a pool. They took weeks to return our phone call and email. Then after a couple emails and one phone conversation they were suppose to get back to us about setting up a time to come out to our house for a bid, but we never heard from them again.

We had problems with it but they have been good about coming back to fix it. I think they are great, there was a problem and they resolved it so I have no issues. The problem isn't the concrete pouring, it is that they hire another contractor to pour the cool crete on top of the concrete and thats where the problem is. Pooltron comes and fixes it, so it is not really their fault.

The owner Gary Sansone came out the next day after I had called for a estimate and shortly after hand delivered his proposal. I was completely blown away with the amount of work they did just to give an free estimate. It was complete with blueprints, design ideas, drainage suggestions and anything else needed to make an informed decision. I tend to be extremely detailed when committing to such an expensive project and had 3 other local pool companies bid it prior to pooltron. My expectations were they would be higher then all because the reputation was they build the best pools. To my surprise they came in lower then the other bids and offered more options and design ideas then all others, 2 other bids came in over $75k. I talked it over with my wife and gave them the ok, they started the pool when scheduled and finished early. The pool is amazing, he used all his own long term employee's from concrete, to electrical (no sub contractor's). Since last year I've referred them to several friends/clients who wanted a pool. The owner came out everyday to moniter the progress and talk to us about the design, color and tile options you have during this type of project. I had many questions during the job and they always took the time to answer all of them without any of the normal attitude some company's seem to have when the owner is closely involved. You can't go wrong with Pooltron, they are simply the best pool company in St Louis.

I bought a new home and didn't discover until the pool was turning green that the pumps and chlorinator had been turned off perhaps by a disgruntled seller. I called Pool Tron and asked for help but they never called back so I called someone else. Both companies showed up. I told Pool Tron to finish what they were doing that day but that this other company was going to take over. Pool Tron showed up two more days to "follow up" and I told them, each time, that I had hired someone else. They sent a bill for 3 days of service at $165 an hour and charged $1,200.
Description of Work: Pool had to be shocked several times because the pumps and chlorinator had been turned off for several days. They skimmed the pool and replaced chemicals.

THEY ARE PROBABLY THE BEST AT WHAT THEY DO IN THE ST LOUIS AREA. THEY ARE ALSO PROBABLY THE MOST EXPENSIVE. I HAVE TRIED OTHER SMALLER LESS EXPENSIVE POOL SERVICES, BUT DID NOT GET THE QUALITY, RESPONSIVENESS, PUNCTUALITY, OR PROFESSIONALISM.

They are very prompt when I call with a problem, usually they send someone within an hour or two. They usually send two people and charge me for two people, even though one person would have been enough. They are expensive, but they put in the pool, so I feel most comfortable with them working on the equipment. They offer storage of my pool cover for a fee which I appreciate. They seem to know what they are doing and work quickly.
