Polished Edge Painting

Matthew Kennedy is incredibly unprofessional. I regret that I did not post a review of his work at the time of service to warn others. But after being verbally assaulted and threatened with property damage and a lawsuit, we were afraid to write a review. Our terrifying experience with him is actually what prompted us to buy a membership to Angie's List and install a security system with video surveillance! He did an incredibly horrible job and made a complete disaster of our entire house. We tried to work through the problems with him, pointing out unsatisfactory work. Any normal person would immediately see the problems (dried dripping paint on walls, ridiculously uneven plasterwork, overspray on trim and floors, etc.?yes, he SPRAYED paint INSIDE our home instead of rolling it), but he acted as if the quality of his work was normal and acceptable. He and his brother laid the thinnest mil plastic "drop cloth" you can buy and didn't secure it properly, so our carpets were full of popcorn ceiling pieces. At one point, he even used a shop vac to attempt to blow the plaster dust and particles out the window! That's when I told him to stop and we reviewed his work. He left our house filled with plaster dust, paint cans and wads of drop cloth everywhere. He even poured paint on our wood deck in his hasty rush to leave. Ultimately we paid him the remaining balance for "the work he had done" just so he would leave our property. But he quickly followed up with an email threatening us again that if we posted a review of his work, he's sue us for slander "since the work was not completed." What a joke. This guy's a complete con artist and doesn't know the first thing about how to do a job right. Every single thing he did had to be redone. We spent thousands of dollars on a reputable contractor (thanks to Angie's List!) to redo and finish the work. In a profanity-riddled response to another bad review on bbb.org, Matthew said he does business under a different name now, so consumer beware. Do a Google image search for "Matthew Kennedy Missouri" to see what he looks like. His mug shot is the first two image results (mid 20s, brown hair in a red t-shirt). It's really scary that this guy's offering Groupon deals for painting now!

Matthew did not live up to his promises; was sloppy; was unreliable; lots of excuses; then threatened us with a lawsuit after we would only pay him 1/2 of what he wanted. And told us at the last minute he would only take cash. He threatened that if we did leave cash for him that day he would not return our cabinets. In the end, he did not return a cabinet door and we had to have one custom made as a replacement. He destroyed wallpaper and a 2-year old kitchen sink. It was truly a disaster - and I am afraid he never intended to do a good job - I think he is a scam artist just wanting some quick cash. Terrible, terrible experience.
