Patrick Baughman

Description of Work: I signed a contract for Patrick Baughman to repair my screened in sunporch. The contract called for him to tear down, re-build, haul away material. Estimated time for the job was 3-15 days. I paid $3,000 on August 24, 2011. He "finished" the job on September 24, 2011. He replaced the floor, the framing for the screens, the screens & the screen door. I looked at the work when he was done & it looked okay. Well, a few days later when I looked closer, I saw, that he did not frame the screens all the way around. He used staples which allowed gaps in the screens. He even used two pieces of screen & over-lapped them. There is so much space that mosquitos were getting in. When the leaves began to fall, they were blowing in onto the "screened in" porch because of the poor quality of work. He put on a new screen door. The outer frame of the door opening has gaps all the way around, almost 1/4" wide. Not only can bugs get through, so can the rain & moisture. The painting he did looks like he didn't know you were supposed to dip the paint brush in the paint can multiple times to spread the paint evenly on the surfaces. The job was very amateurish. I don't think he has ever built a screen in porch in his entire life. I talked to him in person once & he said he would fix it. Never heard back. Called him once & he said he would fix it. Never called back. This con-artist lived two houses down from me. Nowhere to be found. He is a thief, a liar, unreliable. I would not hire him again for anything. Not even to carry my trash to the curb. Not even to shovel my snow. Oh, by the way. He took my power chord from my garage. Regrettably, I must accept the blame because I trusted my "neighbor" to do a good job. I did not look into his background. And I did not inspect his work thoroughly enough before giving him the final payment. I will not repeat this mistake. I estimate it will cost be at least $1,000 to have it done correctly. If anyone reads this because they are checking him out- do not hire this bozo! I am contemplating legal action. But like I said, I don't know where he is.
