It started out very well with Jim, the owner arriving at initial appointment.... I expressed my concerns about holes being put in our "brand new" french doors..... He assured me that two small holes per shade would be drilled in each door to attach the shade... I paid 50% down payment over the phone the next day.... Aug. 29, 2017... On Tuesday, September 19, 2017, two young guys named Chris and Dustin arrived to install my shades.... They were very unkept and both their hands looked quite dirty.... In a joking manner, I asked, " Aren't you guys going to wash your hands before unwrapping my shades.... The shades were off white and susceptible to hand stains.... Chris was the only one to wash his hands... Dustin grabbed paper towels to pick up my shades.... I guess that was suppose to make me feel better.... They started measuring the trim around the glass when I asked, "Aren't you just going to measure from the top of the doors and work that way ? Chris remarked that the shades were constructed differently than he was use to installing.... Chris made several trips outside to call his boss.... Time was passing and I was becoming concerned... When Chris and Dustin "finally" decided to drill holes, Dustin was standing on a ladder holding the shade, while Chris was trying to drill holes.... Chris was complaining that Dustin was not holding the shade in proper position... Dustin was so short, he had a very hard time holding the shade in place.... Two holes were drilled and shade was up and crooked.... When they brought the shade down the two holes in the door were not level by 1/4 in.... It was at that time I told them to stop and I called my husband... Chris and Dustin became very rude and disrespectful..... My husband spoke with Jim the owner and 2 of his brothers were suppose to install shades the next day.... Later that evening, after speaking to my husband, we decided to just get the blinds and install them ourselves... My husband was out of town ... He called Jim early before the next appt to tell him our decision.... My husband paid the balance minus $30 for install fee...by phone. (Could you spare the refund?) A guy (I did not get his name) came to deliver the shades.... I told him I needed to inspect shades before signing the ticket.... He opened the box.... The one shade has two (unlevel) holes in the back of shade.... I took pictures and told the delivery guy that something would have to be done with this. He replied, " That will have to be taken up with Jim".....I proceeded to show him the crooked holes in my door.... When I was trying to contact my husband, the delivery guy remarked, "I have other work to do...!" I said, " Well I am a customer too!" I had not finished making notations on the ticket....The delivery guy "grabbed" the ticket off the table , ripped off his copy and stormed out the door.... I called my husband and told him what happened.... My husband put in a call to Jim... Jim told my husband if he puts up the shade and it is crooked, he will remake the shades.... I will update if review changes....

Before I address Mrs. Tedfords remarks, I understand that she would be nervous about her doors. That is only natural. She expressed to my husband, Jim, at the time of the sale that she didn't want any extra holes in the doors. That is exactly what she conveyed to my installers when she met them at the front door. This is no problem for our installers and we are used to accommodating our customers' requests. Mrs. [Member Name Removed]'s first words when our installers arrived was that she was picky and she didn't want any extra holes or finger prints on her doors. Mrs. [Member Name Removed] did not jokingly, or otherwise, ask them if they were going to wash their hands before unwrapping her shades. Chris volunteered to wash his hands because she had made the remark to them that she didn't want any finger prints on the doors. My installers are never unkempt nor are their hands ever dirty. When they started to install the shades, they were interrupted several times with Mrs. [Member Name Removed]'s own thoughts on how they should be measuring and doing the installation. Had my installers been left alone to do their job, the installation would have taken less than 30 minutes. It was an unfair, unkind and untrue remark that Mrs. [Member Name Removed] made about Dustin being "so short, he had a very hard time holding the shade in place." It was hurtful for Dustin to see that Mrs. [Member Name Removed] felt it necessary to make that remark and in such a public way. Dustin was quite capable of assisting Chris. Chris was not "complaining" about Dustin but rather instructing him on how to hold the shade. Being short had nothing to do with it. Mrs. [Member Name Removed] also claims the "two holes were drilled and the shade was up and crooked." The shade was never installed. Mrs. [Member Name Removed] called her husband before the shade was ever installed. He, not Mrs. [Member Name Removed], told them to stop doing the installation, which they did. Chris knew she was unhappy and nervous about them doing the installation so he said another crew would come back and do it. Jim called Mrs. [Member Name Removed] and told her he would send our sons (not "his brothers") to do the installation and she seemed pleased, especially that we would come back first thing in the morning. The next morning, Mr. [Member Name Removed] called and said he didn't want us doing the installation, just to drop off the shades, which we agreed to. We sent our son, Matthew, who is one of our installers. Since Matthew was not there to do the installation, only to drop off the shades, he was in a hurry to leave because he didn't want to be late to his next appointment. However, while he was there, he tried to explain to Mrs. [Member Name Removed] why the placement of the screw holes in the head of the shade was not important. Mrs. [Member Name Removed] then attacked the appearance and character of our installers which put Matthew in the position of having to defend them. When she told Matthew that Dustin and Chris were taking too long, he asked her if there was a conversation with them and she admitted there was and that she sat behind them, which she felt intimidated them. Chris confirmed that what she said was accurate and that she had pulled up a chair within 4 feet of them, tapping her foot the entire time. Matthew trained Dustin and Chris and, as he told Mrs. [Member Name Removed], they are very good installers. We are always getting wonderful compliments on how professional and friendly Chris and Dustin are. Matthew was offended by her loud insults and he felt the best way to handle it was to just leave because the more he tried to talk to her the more agitated she became. The picture that Mrs. [Member Name Removed] posted was of the screw holes in the head of the Roman shade. As my son tried to explain to Mrs. [Member Name Removed] when he dropped off the shades and Jim explained to Mr. [Member Name Removed], it's not important where the holes are drilled on the head of the shade--it's where the shade itself is installed on the door. If Mr. [Member Name Removed] still wants to install the shades himself, we will be more than happy to instruct him on how to do so. However, if he follows his wife's installation instructions and not ours, I fear the shades will not be installed correctly. We are also willing to come back and install the shades for him, at no charge for the installation. [Member Name Removed] Pursley Overland Shade

Description of Work: Came out promptly and gave an estimate for cordless blinds for four windows and vertical cordless blinds for a patio door. Installed drapes as scheduled. Did a great job and I would definitely use them again.

Estimater arrived on time for estimate. I needed the shades to be installed before we moved in on the 20th of November and they arrived and were installed on the 19th, just in time. The two living room window shades (on the same wall with the patio door) had hardware which did not match the hardware on the patio door. The two workmen, who were extremely professional, took the two shades back and hand painted them to match. When they brought the two shades back, it was a perfect match with the patio door. I had used this company 12 years ago in my last home, and I was just as pleased with their service this time. I would be happy to use their services again.
Description of Work: Provided cordless shades for 4 windows, vertical cordless shade for patio door, and chain mechanism shade for basement window in new attached home.

After getting the run-around or sales-snow-jobs from other local window covering shops, or worse yet, not being able to patronize them because of their limited day-time, week-day only hours, a friend took me to Overland Shade where I found a product that met my specific needs. They came to measure and told me a product arrival day and scheduled an installation. They learned from the supplier the day before the installation that delivery would be delayed because the fabric had come in flawed and had had to be re-ordered. They apologized and brought me temporary paper window coverings (because I had taken my old blinds down the day before in anticipation of installation. They confirmed the new installation in advance and did the job quickly and efficiently (and there were tricky corners to contend with.) I am delighted with the product, and with the service by Overland Shade, both the owner and his staff. They were all very helpful and very responsive, and very truthful.

Jim Pursley, the owner, thoroughly explained the options, issues and installation process. Measurements and installation were perfect and professional. This is an old family company and they take a lot of pride in their work and it shows. I am thrilled with the results. I later had one minor issue and it was fixed promptly and cheerfully. I felt I got a good value.

We had to cut down a diseased tree in front of the picture window. The tree's shade was missing and the inside of the house temperatures made the living room too hot in the p.m. We had the windows tinted with film. It helped a little but a more drastic/expensive solution was needed. Angie's List had such positive ratings on Overland Shade that we called M/M Jim Pursley, the owner-operators of this family owned business since 1948. It was a pleasure to work with them. Jim came out, not once, but twice, to measure the box picture window as he wanted to make sure that the energy effecient shades would fit nicely, given the angles in the 3 window panels. We also ordered the wireless remote control. Jim's sons came about three weeks later and were pleasant men and experienced in installing the shades. I learned that Overland Shades has never had a Better Business complaint in the 64 years of doing business. I understand why! They stand behind their products and installation as a family. They are proud of their work and put the client's satisfaction first.

Great job--Great service--Great price (including sr. discount) They picked up blind exactly when scheduled on Monday. I especially appreciated that they put up temporary accordian blinds on our picture window facing a major street. They put in a rush order for us (since we were leaving the following Sat. to go away on a trip) and promptly called Thursday to deliver the blind. They came within the hour, did a beautiful job in taking down the temporary blinds, putting up our new cleaned blind, and even put our lace drapes back on the hooks for us that hung in front of the blind. I would most definitely recommend this company and use them again.

I checked Angie's List and this company looked good. I called and Jim Pursley came out, measured and offered a few suggestions we liked. We had a bid from another company that was competitive but Jim was so knowledgeable we were impressed. The other company said they could not install the darkening shades behind the existing blinds. Jim said he could and did. After discussing with Jim we decided to go with composite instead of vinyl and we are very pleased. We wish we could have done this years ago. Installers were courteous, cleaned up well and did a great job installing the shutters and shades.

We're very happy. I initially contacted the company via the form on their website and received an informative, detailed response from Sharon within a few hours. Their quote was much lower than the other companies I contacted. When we brought our 4 tape blind in, the gentleman there recognized it as the type of blind that they make and he figured he'd made it many years ago. He had a limited amount of the tape that matched what was already on the blind and went to measure what he had to make sure there was enough for both of ours, even though we hadn't brought the second blind in. We'd planned to see how it went with the first one, then come back later. We ended up driving back home to get the other one so that they could take care of both at the same time. We were very pleased with the work they did and they were very nice and friendly both at drop-off and pick-up.
Description of Work: We had two large metal venetian blinds (4 tape and 3 tape) re-taped, restrung, and cleaned.

Jim came to our house with samples for us to look at and did all the measurements. He explained the differences between the products from different manufacturers and gave us the bid on the spot. About three weeks after accepting the contract, two men came to do the installations, which took less than two hours. We are extremely happy with the results. We chose this company over another because they carried products from multiple companies, thus allowing us to spend a little over half what we would have paid going with another company that only carries one brand.

Superior work. Owner came to measure, listened to my thoughts on what needed to be done. He did not try to up-sell or over-sell his products. He was able to accommodate my delivery date. Installation was incredibly reasonable. Installers took their shoes off in the house--without me even asking. 2 men spent about 2 hours installing the shades. They did a great job. I'm very satisfied and would highly recommend the company.

Jim was very prompt with the appointment time. He measured living and dining windows. He said the venetian blinds would be ready in three weeks. I asked if he could have them in two weeks. He accommodated my request. The blinds were installed in the time requested. The installation was hassle free. The old, damaged blinds were removed at my request. The installer noticed my grandchildren in the house and adjusted the cords for safety. The blinds are beautiful. I am completely satisfied.

I CONTACTED FOUR OTHER COMPANIES, AND THIS WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT SHOWED UP AND PRESENTED HIS PRODUCTS. HE DID A VERY GOOD JOB AT PRESENTING THE PRODUCTS AND TELLING ME WHAT WOULD WORK AND WHAT WOULD NOT WORK. HE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL.
