If you need a riding mower, refrigerator, gas range, kitchen cabinets and counter tops, roofing materials, lumber or drywall by all means go to the big box stores. But if you have the typical problems a homeowner, or rehabber faces go to Overland Hardware. You won't get the aerobic exercise you get patronizing the big box stores. It is only 50 feet from your parking space to the entrance and once inside a friendly, knowledgeable staff member takes you to the correct aisle whose products can solve your problem. The other problem I have with the big box stores is the perception that, by shopping there, you are saving money. It ain't necessarily so! When I was rehabbing my father's house I had a small project that required 8 six penny finishing nails. Had I gone to a big box store I would have had to buy a one pound box and the unused nails would wind up rusting in my basement. Instead I bought a dozen nails at one tenth the cost at Home Depot. I have compared the cost of the same paints at Overland Hardware and Lowe's, and I find very little difference. If you want good friendly and knowledgeable service go to Overland Hardware.
Description of Work: I installed a new kitchen counter and discovered that a back splash was too narrow for a standard electrical outlet cover,so that, once installed, the back splash would prevent access to the electrical outlet. Rodger, an employee, modified an existing outlet cover and solved my problem. I would never expect that kind of service from Home Depot, Lowes or Menards.

They should get great ratings because it is a wonderful place. I go there at least once a week. They are A-plus. I can not get better service. When I go in there are a lot of people to wait on me and there is no waiting. They all know what they are talking about, it is not like going to the big box home improvement stores. They are one of the best places to shop in St. Louis.
Description of Work: I go to Overland Hardware every time I get a chance. The other day I went there to get salt for the snow, but they were out of it just like everybody else is out of it because of the snow.
