The whole project took one week. There were no delays despite frequent storms and showers. I also appreciated that John took the time to have the gas company locate their lines so as to avoid any damage. I will use John's services in the future.

He showed up the day I called to provide an estimate and performed the work as scheduled. Not only does the yard look great, but he was very professional and courteous (as was his crew). Based on the quality of the work and the reasonableness of the estimate, I would highly recommend New Urban Landscaping.

We followed instructions, but nothing happened. No grass came up. John came back and surmised that the seeds might have been eaten by squirrels, and put down more seed. No results. It was after we had (successful) work on the sidewalk done by another company that we realized that he hadn't put any hay on the grass. We were originally planning on a budget of >$1000 for landscaping, which we are now awarding to another firm.

New Urban Landscaping did a great job with our yard. They understood exactly what we were looking for and did a great job with the execution. They were very quick with the quote and plans, and the price was what we were expecting. I would definitely recommend them to my friends and family. They did a lot of follow up after they were done as well to make sure we were happy with the final product.

The design was beautiful, very natural looking which was what I wanted. He was patient as we discussed everything as I had been to the Missouri Botanical Gardens first and had some ideas of what I liked. The backyard looks beautiful and is filled with many native plants. John is knowledgeable and very capable. He's busy so you might have to wait a little while but it is worth it. He will continue to care for our landscaping both in the front and backyards.

I am very happy with the work that John did on my front yard. I contacted John for an estimate for designing and landscaping my front yard and he came by that same week for a consultation. We discussed what I was looking for and my budget for the project. I had some overgrown bushes removed from the front (I utilized a different company for this task) the previous fall and was looking for something to fill the space in order to better frame the house. I don't have much, if any, experience or knowledge of landscaping and relied heavily on John to provide recommendations. John got back to me a few weeks later and I was very impressed with his proposal. He put together a comprehensive list of shrubs, bushes and perennials that would work in the space. He also suggested a tree in the front to add some depth to my lawn. After he walked me through the plan I researched the plant suggestions before committing to having the work done. I loved everything he had chosen. John was able to complete the project the next week - one day of some clean up/prep and then an entire day of planting & mulching. The end result is beautiful!! It looks like a whole new house from the front. I was initially thinking the job would consist of a couple shrubs, but John far exceeded my expectations with his plans and execution. I cannot wait to watch everything grow and bloom! I would strongly recommend New Urban Landscaping. He did an amazing job on my front yard and I will definitely hire him for future landscaping work.

From the beginning we were impressed with John's knowledge and agreed with his approach to soft landscaping. Easy to talk to and a good listener, our requirement to have plants that were "hard to kill," was apparently taken to heart. Our garden would be thriving if not for some critters that dug up a few of our flowers, and from lack of water due to a broken water spigot. Otherwise, he made good on his promise. He guided us step-by-step through the process, bringing a number of books for us to view his planting recommendations. Everything was written down, in regard to plant names, in his diagram. He also gave us tips on watering. We will continue to use John for any future maintenance issues.

He did an excellent job. He has a wide knowledge of native plants, which I have tried to plant in my yard. He even found some that I didn't know that I had and weeded and mulched around them. He removed a lot of invasive euonymus which was crowding out other plants. He bagged everything up for pickup. I plan to call him again. He is professional, prompt, knowledgeable, and very pleasant to work with. He also had a helper for part of the time who was very pleasant and capable.

John worked very patiently with us even, upon our request, allowing our involvement in plant and stone selection at the wholesale nursury and stone yard. Our budget was firm, and he creatively offered ideas/solutions to create a finished look within our means. His design beautifully addressed not only our aesthetic vision, but also the errosion and pet-proof problems we had experienced with our previous landscaping. He communicated with us through every step of the process, including calling on scheduled install days when the weather simply wasn't cooperating. Above all, he and his assistant were friendly, skilled and professional through the entire process.

John Nekola came to our home. Listened to what my husband and I wanted and needed, and created a detailed landscaping plan that would meet our needs. We wanted color and flowers in our yard, but have young children and just didn't have the time for annuals. John created a beautiful landscape in our front yard with lots of color and texture, but used many different and lovely perennials that do not require extensive maintenance. John was extremely knowledgeable about plant selection and growing conditions. He did a wonderful job, and was pleasant to work with. All of the trees and plants that he planted a year ago, came back vibrantly this spring and summer. He also has done springtime clean-up, trimming and mulching for us. Everything he has done for us has been top notch! I highly recommend his work.

It went fantastically. John is punctual, polite and totally professional. We have received innumerable compliments on our landscaping and are very happy with it.

I called and left a message and he got right back to me. He came out to look at our yard, which has been neglected for several years and needed some major spring cleaning. He gave me an estimate which seemed quite reasonable. The beginning of the work was delayed a couple of days from when he had said he would start due to uncooperative weather, but once he was able to start he got the job done quickly and professionally. The yard looks much better now. It did take him a little longer than he'd guessed, but that didn't surprise me because I knew how bad it was (which was why my husband and I weren't up to tackling it ourselves!).

John did an excellent job in a timely manner. He and a subcontractor tilled the compacted soil with a rotor tiller, then mulched the soil, planted seed and laid straw over the top. John is a quiet, polite, steady worker who is knowledgeable and thorough. We will definitely be using him again for any yardwork we can't manage ourselves.

Overall the work was good. We had him come back to take out some weeds that were missed the first time due to a new employee not recognizing the weeds. We were really really happy that he was so responsive and worked really hard to make sure we were happy with the final result.

They advised us on the planting within the garden bed of the trellis.

Excellent. He did what he said he would do, when he said he would do it. It took about a week to complete the work, and he kept me informed throughout the project. He also gave me advice on how to care for the plants.

John gave an estimate and returned about 10 days later to complete work. He made three visits, one in the tail of violent storm. He worked steadily to clean up our ivy beds in front and our side planting bed. He supplied and applied mulch and planted 5 mums we had requested. The front and side look so much better after his work.

John came early, worked several hours, was very neat and organized. He worked straight through from start to finish. I will hire him again, because he was so conscientious and a fine worker.

John was great to work with. He was dependable and kept us posted on when he'd be doing the work based on the weather. He was upfront that we might need to pay more than the original estimate depending on how much prep-work needed to be done. John provided us w/instructions on how to care for the lawn. He was professional and did a great job. We love our new lawn!

Very pleased with the service. Very knowledgeable of types of plants that would grow in shady conditions. Guaranteed work and replaced plants that died. We will definitely use New Urban Landscaping again.
