For a number of reasons, including leaving the work force for several years to raise my children, then finding myself unable to find full-time employment after my divorce three years ago, I was reaching the point of being unable to make my 15-year-mortgage payments. I had contacted several mortgage lenders over the past year or so but couldn't seem to and quot;get my foot in the doorand quot; for a refinance. Based on your mortgage lenders' list, I contacted two brokers and was able to make an appointment to speak to one of them the same day. His name is Kim Karr, who works for Midwest BankCentre, and I have never met a professional who worked so h****** my behalf. I talked to him in his office for 1 1/2 hours on my first visit, going over numbers and some of the reasons I found myself in my financial situation. He was able to find a program for me, even though I made a trip to the emergency room and found myself in the hospital for two days without health insurance just as we were reaching the final stages of loan approval. (My divorce-mandated insurance had run out in April, and I have been unable to find affordable health care given that I have a pre-existing condition.) He continued to work through that setback, and when the appraisal came back stating that I needed to make 2 expensive repairs to the house before loan approval could be made, Mr. Karr immediately contacted contractors in those areas and arranged for them to come to my house right away. He also worked with them to finance those repairs through the new mortgage. In addition to walking me carefully through the refinance process, he referred me to a couple of job opportunities and continued to encourage me to pursue a return to the work force, a goal I'd very much like to meet. The bottom line: instead of just looking at one or two numbers, he took the time and trouble to listen to ALL the facts of my financial and life situation, and he worked very hard to get my loan application approved. Between facing a wall financially and experiencing a terrible scare with my health, these last few months have been some of the most stressful I've known. But thanks to Kim Karr, I closed on my refinance on August 1. It;s no great exaggeration when I tell people that he saved my life.

We wanted to refinance our home loan to take advantage of lower rates. Kim Karr was recommended by our financial advisor. He was all about learning our needs and goals. He then walked us through the process. Refi involves lots of paperwork which I personally really dislike but he showed me ways to streamline the process, use electronic means to get them the documentation etc. Then when our appraisal came back too low, a very common problem for homeowners these days, even folks with nice homes and excellent credit face this hurdle. He went above and beyond and found an FHA HARP program that we qualified for and got the deal done. Even came out to our house to close vs us driving to Clayton. And all the rates and numbers he promised were delivered. Very satisfied.
