I am pretty satisfied with the service. Each time they had the work done in the time that they originally estimated. The price was fairly reasonable given that in both cases, this was around a 10 year old piece of equipment. A couple hundred every several years is good in my book to have well running equipment.
Description of Work: I went to Lawn Care Equipment Company twice, once to overhaul my lawnmower and then to do the same for my generator.

Worst experience ever. Store strung me along for 6 weeks telling me it would be done this weekend. When I asked for a discount for the amount of time it took and hardship without a mower. The owner told me I should have rented a mower from them. The owner was rude and it was clear rather than be honest and tell me if I go to a John Deere dealer it will be done in a week vs 2 months. They lied and don't make it right!

From the moment you walk through the door, even when very busy, you are acknowledged. Service is first class and on time for lawn and other equipment for the yard. Doesn't matter whether or not you made original purchase from them ( I did on this item), they are honest and professional. Always helpful, if they can't fix something they tell you.

Lawnmower repair is like car repair to me: I don't know much about how to do it, so I'm willing to pay for the work, as long as I can trust the person or company doing the work based on quality (did they ultimately fix it?) and the level of respect they give me. This company failed in these criteria, despite multiple opportunities to "make it right." At the beginning of spring, I took my mower in for what I hoped would be a routine tuneup. After I retrieved it and tried mowing, I noticed it running it fits and starts, requiring me to restart it multiple times. I tolerated it and mowed again the next week, with similar results. I decided to return it for further examination. After a couple of weeks, I retrieved it again. I repeated this process three or four times, without the problem being fixed. As I note, I don't know much about mowers, so I am willing to concede that some repairs are difficult to assess, and it's possible that I had done something to damage the mower. But this is where trust and professionalism come in: As the trips back and forth to the shop began to mount, I couldn't help but think "Didn't they test this themselves before they gave it back to me?" Their lack of concern for me as a customer began to make me feel like I was the problem, and not the other way around. Along the way, the company failed to respond to my phone messages in a timely way, made "repairs" that incurred a cost without first checking to see that I wanted the repair done (I wanted to "cut my losses" at some point and stop putting money into this mower), kept my mower for several days (sometimes a couple weeks) at a time with no action, and in my final interaction failed to acknowledge the difficult experience that they created. After I took the mower in for the fourth time (and called them to see what was happening, since they NEVER called me), I was told that the mower couldn't be fixed. So, after them paying them a lot of money and them having my mower in their shop for the better part of the spring and summer, I was left with no mower at all. I don't think that this company is evil or out to get people (at least one person who works there was friendly to me, if ultimately not a proper advocate for me). I do think that they need to review how they do business with respect to quality and professionalism. My impression is that they think that they are too busy to consider how they can improve.
Description of Work: Spring tuneup, followed by multiple returns to fix an unknown problem with the mower remaining running after five minutes

The first time I took a mower to them I was charged an outrageous fee to simply change a cable that controls the self propel. It was a repair that takes less than 15 min. and they charged $100. Second time was to replace a gear in the mower wheel. Tried to add on services that were not asked for. Gouged me again. Third time I decided to give them another chance mostly because they are close, Was told I had to pay for a shield before work could be done. These guys will nickel and dime you to death. They truly do not appreciate your business. I will never purchase anything from this company ever again and will not under any circumstance use them for repair work. Way too expensive and they constantly try to add on work.
Description of Work: This is the third time i have used these guys to repair a lawnmower. Each time it was for issues with the self-propel mechanism. I have also purchased equipment from them.

Last year I had the lawnmower blade sharpened here twice, which cost $15 each time. This year the cost for the same lawnmower, to have the blade sharpened once, was $35. The explanation given for the price more than doubling was that the lawnmower has two blades and there is a charge of $17.50 to sharpen each one.

I had thought I would skip the servicing this year because the place I had gone to before had become very expensive; however, my mower really needed some help! The people at Lawn Care Equipment were able to get me in quite soon, even though the busy season had begun. They were very thorough in checking my mower and explained everything I needed. My mower worked like a charm all summer. I will use them every spring from now on!

The mower was dropped off on April 11 with an expected turn around time of two weeks or less. The work was completed on April 30 so it took longer than expected with no explanation. The mower was serviced and tuned with no observed issues. However, the yellow Cub Cadet replacement castor was green. After paying for and receiving the mower, I contacted the company and asked them to explain the color mismatch. After some investigation, the company returned my call and explained they are not an authorized Cub Cadet center so they order the part from some third party company. The company further explained that if I wanted the correct color, I could seek out an authorized dealer and either purchase the correct part or buy their paint and do it myself. Company did acknowledge they should have contacted me first before installing it and sending it out the door. However, the company feels that since the mower "works" they have satisfied the requirements of the repair.
Description of Work: Requested Cub Cadet SRC-621 push mower be serviced and front right castor be replaced due to bending.

Overall experience was fine. One of the reasons I went to them was the quick reported turn around (2-3 days) but that actually ended up being 5 days. Still better than what Sears would have done.
Description of Work: Lawn mower wasn't starting and hadn't been tuned up in over a year. Also, had run over a steel dog tie-out so the blade was bent. Lawn mower was tuned up, blade replaced and overall serviced.

PROMPTLY RETURNED CALL, ANSWERED QUESTIONS AND VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE. WHEN EQUIPMENT WAS DROPPED OFF, SERVICEMAN WAS TOO RUSHED TO LISTEN AND ANSWER QUESTIONS. WHEN MOVER WAS PICKED UP, THE OWNER WAS GOOD IN EXPLAINING THE FIXES AND RESULTS. I HAD ASKED THEM TO ALSO SHARPEN THE BLADE, BUT IT WAS NOT DONE.

CLEAN SHOP AND KNOWLEDGEABLE SERVICE WRITER. HE ASKED PRELIMINARY QUESTIONS REGARDING THE TRACTOR'S PERFORMANCE TO NARROW DOWN THE PROBLEM. THE TRACTOR WAS REPAIRED A WEEK LATER AND HAVE HAD NO TROUBLE WITH IT. A GOOD EXPERIENCE.

I HAVE USED THIS PLACE FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS, AND HAVE FOUND THEM TO BE HONEST, RELIABLE, FAIR, AND COMPETENT. BECAUSE OF THEIR COMPETENCE, SOMETIMES THE TURNAROUND TIME IS SLOW, BUT THAT IS THE LIKELY RESULT IF YOU TAKE YOUR EQUIPMENT IN TO BE REPAIRED IN EARLY APRIL.
