I have been dealing with them since the hailstorm in April, I have about 35 emails, back and forth, mainly from me. I have had two inspections made and sent them to Lane House....they keep saying there is no problem...it took them two months to fix the flashing on the chimney....if you remember, we had a drought....I never noticed a problem until the first rain fall....they have a salesman named Willie, who promises you the world, but after first complaint, never answers your calls. I would never, ever recommend them to anyone. Lane House tells you their roofers are licensed. Our roofers could not speak english and could not explain to us what they were doing, nor could we ask them questions. They were to replace our flashing around our chimney. They didn't until I kept complaining, finally after 3 months fixed the flashing. . Every short cut was taken and little to no effort was put into this job.
Description of Work: roofing, gutters, replace porch roof and screen porch...but the $7422, was what the insurance adjuster came up with and entailed a whole lot more than what Willie, the so-called salesman, bid on.

Response from Lane House Construction
Lane House Construction would like to take this opportunity to defend ourselves against these accusations. Please see following for our response. We’ve been to her house six times regarding this matter and have sent three different installers out to identify the problem. We have established that the problem is that she has no overhang on her screen in porch, which we did not build. The gutters that Lane House put on are installed properly. We took an extra step and put a water shed on top of your porch roof, that acts like a gutter. It keeps the water on top forcing it to run down to the lowest part of the roof, carrying it into the gutter. The water shed prevents the water from coming over the edge. The problem you have is rain and wind, with no overhang the rain can hit your screens direct. If you had over hang over your porch, there would be no problems. Lane House did not build the porch, we just gave (deleted member name) a new roof and gutters.

This was the 3rd time I've had Lane House do work for me, and they'll be the first call I make in the future when I need repairs done.
Description of Work: Lane House did repairs from the last bad hail storm here in St. Louis. It was pretty extensive, and they did an outstanding job. Have had people stop and ask who did the work--even months later. They replaced the roof, repaired and replaced damaged siding, and window screens. All the "mess" from removing the old roof and siding, etc, was completely cleaned up.

Approximately two weeks after the second visit by the Lane House rep and I signed a contract for them to do the work, they gave me a call and we arranged a date for the installation. The shingles were delivered a couple of days before the installation was scheduled. The day of the installation, the Lane House representative / work supervisor and the crew arrived on time and began work immediately. They worked diligently and carefully removing the old roof material and loaded it all into a dumpster. Several times the crew policed the yard for stray debris and cleaned up everything. The men were even careful about some areas of the lawn that i had just reseeded. The work was completed in just one day. At one point during the day, we had a very light drizzle which appeared to not slow up the work. By nightfall, everything was cleaned up and the dumpster was hauled away. I couldn't be more pleased with how smoothly everything went and have high praise for the quality of the installation. The gutter cover crew came the next morning and installed the Shur Flo covers. That work went smoothly as well and so far the system has worked well. The work supervisor came back within a few hours of all the work being done and inspected the work and answered the questions I had. Considering all of the work I had done and the special needs I had (11 sheets of roof decking needed to be replaced) and added options, I believe that I received an excellent bid and an excellent final result.
Description of Work: I had Lane House Construction give me an estimate for reroofing my house. The estimate was itemized and they had samples of the shingles that I could select from. After having other companies give me estimates, I asked Lane House to come back and clarify some points and explain how they would fix some problems I had with my roof. I knew beforehand that some of the roof plywood had problems (some sheets had delaminated). They give me a price per sheet of plywood to replace the needed sections. I also knew in advance that I had a low-sloping roof (12:3 pitch) and required 30 # felt underlayment. I also had two valleys that needed ice and water barrier installed. I also choose an architectural asphalt shingle. Lane House met all my special requests. They also recommended a gutter cover system called Shur Flo. I opted to install these gutter covers, too, after I did some research on the Shur Flo company. In addition to all of the above, I had a ridge vent installed and asked Lane House to fix some bathroom venting duct work leading to the roof vent.

After reviewing several other estimates we decided to go with Lane House. Called the sales representative twice but only got his voice mail. Left message that we wanted to hire them but did not hear anything back. After a week we selected another contractor. The Lane House sales rep called backed after a week and said he had been on vacation. Told him we went with someone else. If he would have checked his voice mail or had it forwarded to his office, Land House could have secured our business. Maybe if was for the better.

Jared Gallager, from Lane House, assessed our hail damage, worked with the insurance adjuster and the insurance agent to insure we got complete coverage for all the damage. The adjuster missed a lot, but Jared politely showed him the other damage, which the adjuster admitted to and added to the claim. Without the backup of a knowledgeable contractor rep, a lot of damage would have been missed because we missed it, too. It helps to have an experienced eye. He did an excellent job and basically did all the work with our insurance agent. Which we have never experienced before. It was a very nice experience. He showed us a complete list of replacements and prices, what was expected if unknowns popped up, and stuck to that on the final bill. Because the whole area had been hit so hard by the hail storm, we didn't expect, and he couldn't provide us with definite completion dates.. We didn't expect that because of the circumstances. It was still done in a timely period. Absolutely no complaints about any of the work. All the teams (roof, siding, gutter) were quick, clean and very competent. We were so pleased with the work, we had them replace our shutters and wrought iron railing around the entrance stoop. Again, neat clean, very nice workers and fast. We will definitely ask them again if any problems pop up. We highly recommend them

It took nearly three months to complete the overall contract. The roof replacement was performed about two weeks after the contract was signed. The gutters and downspouts were replaced a few weeks after that. The minor siding repair/replacement was delayed for the better part of two months. I feel I should make it clear that the quality of work and materials seem excellent. While the roofers provided no communication while on-site, Lane's siding reps were friendly. I can find no fault in any of the actual work performed or materials used. The only negative experience I had were with their billing/office personnel. POSITIVES: Materials and labor quality. It does appear that Lane House uses very good quality materials. From what I saw of their labor, I would believe they are very knowledgeable. I had limited contact with their on-site workers, but that contact was always pleasant. NEGATIVES: Communication. This was a constant problem throughout the contract. Nobody followed-up throughout the process and nobody ever provided me with estimates as to when work would be performed. Roofing materials arrived on my roof without warning as did the roofers the next day. Gutters and downspouts were replaced without my knowledge. I was only informed the morning of their arrival that the siding reps would be out to my home. The biggest communication issue was with their billing/office agents. The entirety of this contract was covered as hail damage by my insurer, so obviously the compensation was not an issue. After finishing only one of the four tasks in the contract, Lane's agents contacted me requesting receipt of the initial insurance payment (net cash value payment.) I went ahead and paid them, but their agents were unable to provide any timeline for the remainder of the contract. I received a voicemail less than two days following the completion of the contract (almost three months after signing) requesting final payment. The voicemail was unarguably rude and certainly suggested that I was slow to pay. I immediately returned the call and made it clear that I did not appreciate such a suggestion. Upon my call they offered to send me an invoice, to which I obviously agreed. This was in fact the first and only statement/invoice I received throughout the process. The invoice stated that I was 60 - 90 days past due, which seems ridiculous considering that they just completed the contract. I detailed the communication issues in a letter that was sent with their final payment. I have not received a response from Lane House regarding the issues.
Description of Work: Per an insurance estimate, full removal and replacement of roof, removal and replacement of gutters and downspouts, and minor siding repair.

We had several small glitches when dealing with their sales re p. We were forced to contact him for information and left in the dark on start date for the project. However, once they began the job, I would rate the company as excellent. The work was done in a flash. The workers were friendly and professional. They even helped us replace a portion of the fascia we had overlooked in our orignal contract. The management was easy to work with and they kept within our agreed upon price. Best of all, our home looks fantastic!

Our home received damage from a large hail storm that hit our area in June. It caused a great deal of damage to homes in our city. We contacted Lane based upon their reviews in Angies List and with the BBB. Our out-of-pocket expenses was only our deductible of $500. Insurance picked up the rest. The company dealt directly with our insurance company so we avoided that hassle. Their adjuster came out quickly to assess the damage. However, it did take a little time for him to get back to us which we attributed to other home owners needing assistance also. We signed a contract and waited several weeks longer for them to start the work. Our only concern was the lack of communication about when they would begin the job. We finally called them to inquire. Once they did start, their workers were quick and efficient. The roof was completed in one day and the guttering the next week. They cleaned up after themselves well Afterwards when we expressed several concerns about the roof, their representative came out right away to make some small adjustments. It looks great. Their representative has been helpful throughout the entire process. He answered our questions and returned calls within a reasonable time. The only reason I did not give them an excellent on all ratings was because we found it necessary to call them for information rather than them contacting us first. We are so happy about how this work turned out that we have contracted with them to replace our siding .

Contacted Lane House construction regarding roof damage from storm. Other roofers had said partial roof repairs were in order for the damage. State Farm insurance came out and wanted me to patch the roof and wanted to give me approximately $1200 for the repair job. I had been on the roof and covered it with a tarp after the storm as some of the roofing material had blown away. I observed damage all over the roof. I contacted Lane House and Gail came out and went over the roof completely. After his lengthy inspection he advised to contact State Farm and have them return for a second inspection. Gail met with the second State Farm adjuster and they went over the roof for approximately 1 hour. After they came down the adjuster informed me they would replace the whole roof. Lane House came out in about two weeks and completely removed the first roof and replaced it in 2 days. I had informed them that I had extensive and costly landscaping done around the entire house. They took extra care to protect the landscaping. Then the waiting game began with State Farm to receive payment for the roof. State Farm repeatedly delayed payment telling me they had not talked to Lane House about a supplemental bid for $300 as the State Farm adjuster forgot a portion of the roof. Finally I was told the check would be in the mail and arrive in 7-10 days. State Farm conveniently sent the check with it arriving 14 days from the initial call. During this whole ordeal Lane House was patient and totally understanding about how certain insurance companies treat their customers. When the check arrived Lane House was paid. They had a packet made up for me with lien waivers, warranty information etc. My only suggestion is if you have a satellite dish on the roof to count on having the satellite company come out and reattach the dish and realign it for the best reception. The roofers will attach it but they use the existing screws and location for the dish and it may not be perfect.

We were disappointed with the service from Lane House in three main categories: Unresponsive Staff Poor Quality Control Not Honoring Commitments We selected Lane House because of their very high scores on Angie?s List. Our experience with Lane House has me questioning the validity of the Angie?s List ratings. Specifics: I am also in the professional services business, so I know customer complaints are more useful with specific instances. Here are a few examples in the three categories above: 1. Terry Elder was identified as our manager for our job. I left many messages for Mr. Elder which were never returned despite promises from the office staff that he would ?definitely call you back today?. 2. The roofing crew left 10?-deep tire ruts in our yard. I was told multiple times by Terry Elder and also Robert Barnett that these would be repaired, but I had to follow up several times over a period of weeks to get this completed. 3. We were never advised when the teams would be arriving. This caused several awkward moments including inability to get our cars out of our garage. 4. Many large brackets and other items were left on ground all around the house perimeter by the guttering team. I had to clean these up. 5. The color for the HardiePlank materials was not as promised by Lane House?s salesman. The only solution, per Robert, was to paint the materials, defeating the ?low-maintenance? feature of the HardiePlank siding. 6. I was promised by Robert on several occasions that the painter would leave the leftover HardiePlank paint, or at least the paint specifications. This has never occurred. 7. There were dark streaks on the new roofing left by the chimney crew. I had to repeatedly argue with Robert to get these corrected. 8. On 4 separate occasions I rearranged my schedule to come home early from work for the job?s final walk-through. On all 4 occasions nobody showed up. We communicated all of these points to various Lane House managers, including the president of the company, but no one seemed to be interested in making these things right.

Lane House was very professional, courteous, prompt, and pretty much exactly what you would want out of this kind of experience. I would highly recommend them to anyone. The initial estimate was clear, and the estimator was very clear with my various options. The workers had the roof put on in one day, and the siding and screens were done on a different day. Overall, just a very positive experience.

Everything went well from the estimate to the installation. I was happy with the installation because I was not home at the time (on vacation). When I returned, I was pleased with the look of the roof and the condition of my yard and home. The company was flexible enough to wait for my payment until I returned from my vacation - I appreciated that.

Lane House was phenomenal! They gave us an estimate and when our insurance company came in less they were able to work with our insurance company and therefore we did not have to pay anything out of pocket. Lane House was quick to come out and give us an estiamte and they were quick to get the roof on! We really appreciated them getting the roof on quickly because we wouldn't been able to sell our house. I will definietly use them again in the future (hopefully I don't need them) and I would definitely recommend them to everyone I know! THANKS LANE HOUSE!

The day the work was done, the roofers arrived very early, protected the shrubbery and started their work. During the process, the workers were not loud, they were courteous when they needed to speak to us and at the end of the day, they were sure to clean up EVERYTHING! I live out of state and when I returned, my sister noticed a few loose ends that needed to be taken care of. The day I called to tell them to request that they come out to rectify what needed to be done, someone came out the next day and 2 days later, a worker was out there and the job was completed to our 100% satisfaction. Through all the rain and tornadoes, the roof has held firm and not one drop of rain has been seen in the house.
Description of Work: The roof on my mother's house was so bad that insurance companies wouldn't insure her, she had to get a special state insurance. She'd been told the roof was no longer functional: rotted wood, etc. It had gotten to the point that when it rained, the house leaked upstairs and down. I was extremely nervous having such a big job done on my mother's house, because I had never done anything like this. I called several companies off Angie's List and while they were all responsive, my sister, who at the time lived with my mom, was floored by the professionalism, manner and most of all, the price, from Lane Construction. The job was to replace the entire roof on the house.

I contacted Lane House because I had seen there billboard stating that they were listed on Angies list. Rich set an appointment and he came out. The project is to replace the roof and some flashing, siding work. I gave him a copy of the insurance estimate, he stated he would get back to me. I have never heard form him, I gave him a call, he seem to have forgotten all about this. I still have not received an estimate. Poor customer service I will never call this company again.
Description of Work: After Rich had come out that's last I have seen of him. He has only been working for this company for a very short time, I am not sure if this has anything to with it or not. Very disappointed with them.

They originally were scheduled for two weeks before the job was actually started. The shingles weren't delivered and they had to reschedule. They started the week of Thanksgiving. They messed up our Thanksgiving with the construction. They finished the roof on 11/25. The next day it rained and the ceiling caved in due to leaks. They spent over a week doing the repairs to the ceilings. They wanted us to clean the carpet. At first it looked like it was ok, but the pad was ruined so the stain keeps coming back up. They came out and fixed the roof. They put some more flashing on the roof. The roof started leaking again and this spring, shingles started flying off the roof. We called them back out and they took the entire roof off again. They told us they had to re-plywood the roof and charged us $4000.00 for that work. They told us to make a decision now and they would not stand behind the work unless we agreed to re-plywood the roof. While they were there we had them look at the carpet and they told us to get a bid on the carpet. They did replace the roof after we agreed to do the plywood. They did not accept the bid to replace the carpet and told us we could put a rug on it. They told us it had pee spots on it from our 4lb dog. The pee spots do not account for the giant brown ring from the ceiling collapsing. They then told us that our carpet was 8 years old and they were not going to replace it and that they would credit us $200.00. They are telling us that the carpet is 8 years old but this is carpet that is never walked on. It is a formal living room that we never use.

Well, the crew arrived as advised, however with a lack of a direct supervisor from the company. The crew appeared to be a subcontracted crew with company tee-shirts, most of which did not speak english. They did not drape tarps between the dumpster and the house for protection. They placed tarps on the ground, but continued to dump debris from the roof all over the ground, in the landscape shrubs, on the cedar deck, missing the tarps and which looked like a a bomb of shingles and felt paper went off around the house. The crew began the process of replacing the felt and shingles. Some shingles were installed with 6 nails, but many other were only installed with 5. I recorded this in a short video. The crew removed my existing gutter guards and upon replacing them many were bent, some missing and poorly reinstalled. The ridge vents were removed, but only 1 of the 4 of the ridge vents was replaced, the other 3 vents were simply capped over. I was unable to review this with the crew and they had already left. I had to take up these issues with the company and they had to send a follow up person to correct these issues. I also noticed that when the 3 other ridge vents were installed, (the industry standard for installation requires a 3 or 3.5 inch screw to hold down these vents), the installer used only a 2 inch nail. This leads to questions on how the first vents were installed and concern over their ability to not come loose during the next big wind storm. This issue has not been corrected.Overall, in my opinion and observation, this company did not perform the work in a professional manner, left me very nervous about the overall quality of the work performed, and did not have someone on site to address these problems as they were occuring. The company did respond to my complaints, addressing the issues of concern, but many could have been avoided with a degree of professionalism and respect for the homeowners property during the installation process. The process was very stressful and leaves me with questions regarding the overall quality of the installation. Many neighbors who are and were looking for a good recommendation for their future roofing contractor saw first hand my frustration and problems with the crew that performed my work. I personally selected this company based on ratings with the BBB, being members of the HBA and as a recommended contractor on Angie's list. I was gravely dissapointed with their work and their mistakes.
Description of Work: I contracted with Lane House to replace my roof shingles as a result of recent hail damage. Shingles and ridge vent caps were to be replaced. Based on the sales information received, they advised that they are certified installers and that they use 6 nails per shingle to improve wind damage protection. Also, described was the detail of protecting the home siding, doors, etc with tarps during the removal process.

Six calls could not get a bid on a roof tearoff. I know it's busy this season but I expect better. Don't waste your time.

Unfortunately, there still is no resolution. I am going to have to take this to small claims court, I think. I have called Lane several times and asked to speak with Mr. House, the radio guy, and he has NEVER returned my call. Someone else will intervene and call me back. I called Angie once, the contact person from Lane, and Joe called wanting to know why I called her. Angie never returned the call. I have called and asked for Mr. Houses' email address and was told he doesn't have one. Every single time I have called him there has NEVER been a response. NEVER!! I have had 2 estimates to fix what they destroyed both at $700. To fix the entire driveway is over $2,000 and I'm asking Lane to just pay the $700. Judy offered a credit of $300 but I want and need them to pay the full price of $700, Their dumpster and that truck damaged my property and this has become a nightmare. Yesterday I was so upset I told the receptionist, Julie, to go in Mr. Houses' office and put a note on his desk to call me asap, and Joe called this morning. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I am on disability, in my 60's on a fixed income. I do not have the $700 to fix my driveway. I am not business savvy but I don't like the way this company operates. I had no idea they had sub contractors and that they could just tear up my driveway and blame me. I will never do business with this company again.
Description of Work: I hired Lane House to put a new roof on my house. We had hail damage and called several places for an estimate. Lane House was not the cheapest, but I liked the salesman, Joe, and, in good faith, signed the paperwork. I was told they would deliver the shingles the day before the work was to be done. They came to deliver the shingles, I was excited they were here. I noticed they were having a hard time getting onto my driveway. The truck went back and forth in one spot and the guy got out of his truck and ran over to me telling me I had to sign a piece of paper so he could get on my driveway. (I found out later it was a release form). I signed it. DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING FROM LANE HOUSE OR THEIR SUB CONTRACTORS!!!After they left I saw that they had destroyed my driveway. The asphalt was in a million pieces. I called Joe, my sales guy, who told me he'd get back to me. I had not heard back in 24 hours and called him again. He yelled at me and told me I should never have signed the release. He said a company, ARROWHEAD, had made the delivery and he would again get back to me after he talks to them. Then Lane House ordered a dumpster and that made the driveway even worse, so now there is a hole there too. There were no call backs from Joe. I have had to call him on several occasions and he always has a story i.e.," I'm waiting for the Pres of Arrowhead to come back from Arkansas, this Monday, and we are both coming to look at the big mess in your driveway" then No show/no call.

My experience was not great. They rushed the job and they had some workers that didn't know what they were doing. They used the wrong color on the shingles and made other mistakes. They came back out the next day and re-did it. They were very prompt and they took care of the problem. The foreman was good, but he was doing two jobs at the same time. I would not use them again.
Description of Work: They replaced the shingles on the roof.

It took two weeks to get an appointment after waiting on hold for 6 minutes. I recieved a call the day before confirming appointment. Day and time of appointment no one called or showed up. After two additional business days I called to ask what happened to get a lackadaisical answer and offer to set another appointment. No apology I refused further appointments

Response from Lane House Construction
She caught us at a busy time, the phones were off the hook. We attempted to get back in contact with her and that sales rep has been terminated.

I had a good experience with them. We are very pleased with their work. They also follow up because there is always something that needs it. They came back and made sure everything was sealed properly. I called other companies and go bids. They were very competitive in their bid. I liked working with them. I thought the crew was very nice. I thought they did a really good job. It was a big job and it ran efficiently. They cleaned up and did a good job. They worked with the insurance company as well. That made a huge difference.
Description of Work: We had hail damage and Lane House Construction replaced the roof on our 16 unit apartment complex.
