Lane House Construction

Everything went very smoothly until the very end. Estimate was provided promptly and they anticipated 3 weeks before they could do the work, but came sooner. It was done in 2 days. However there were 2 post-installation problems. Some materials were left behind for several days. Also, one section needs some rework which they promised to do but still have not completed after 2 weeks

I got several bids from several companies. They pointed out that we had hail and wind damage to our roof that no one else had noticed. The insurance adjuster came out and the man from Lane House came out and went up on the roof with him and he was able to reinforce his claim on the hail and wind damage. At that time we had not promised them the job. They also were the only ones to point out to us a spot in our roof that had gone down some that hadn't been addressed by any of the other companies. After they got the job they corrected the bad spot and then shingled the rest of the roof. They did things above and beyond the call of duty consistently throughout. I would and I have recommended them to others.

They were great. I knew there might be additional expenses based on what they found under the existing shingles, but they showed me examples when they could or took pictures. Kerry was very knowledgeable and the crew was very professional. Other guys not working on my job, came by to see how it was going. They finished in a timely manner and cleaned up after themselves.

The responded to my bid request immediately. I really appreciate that my old shingles were going to be recycled (a major selling point to me). The bid was lower that any of the others I received and the quality of the materials were the same. They were were very accommodating even during the work process. I was told that they were going to pay special attention to clean up after the job was completed. This did not prove to me true. I did end up doing some minor picking up after they left. It did take them longer to complete the job than I was originally told. The office staff was especially helpful.

By far, the highest estimate. While touting the quality of their work, did not even bother to go on the roof, instead just looked at the insurance estimate. Never followed up after the estimate.

My original concern is that when they cut away to install the ridge vent, the boards had been reduced to 2 inches. Many of them were split out. I called the manufacturer. They said they have destroyed the ability to keep the snow and ice out. There is so little supporting the ridge vent, I am afraid it is going to cave in. There is leaking around the chimney and is damaging my bathroom. They are refusing to do anything so far. It is obvious that is incorrectly installed.

Kerry took the time to talk with me and show photos of the roofing damage and skylight issues taken on his phone. He provided possible options and then encouraged me to find a company that specializes in flat roofs. He even helped me find two more companies to contact in the phone book. His honesty was refreshing, especially for a single, female homeowner. I would recommend Lane House Construction to anyone who needs solid advice about roofing or related issues.

They kept everything very clean and were professional. They cleaned up everyday after working, and it did not take very long at all. We had no problems or concerns at all. They did not interfere with our life at all, except for a little noise.

The roofing and the installation was excellent. The whole team worked very hard. They were nice folks and we were happy. The team that put the gutters on, forgot to screw some parts on and the gutters were not secure. When I noticed that, they were prompt in coming out and fixing it.

They were really quick and cleaned up well after themselves. It looks really good.

The experience was good with them. They gave prompt service and they had great responsiveness to calls and inquiries. I think they did a good quality job at a reasonable price.

It went pretty well. They had a few problems with the work, but they are in the process of taking care of them. They were punctual and professional. I will continue to use them in the future.

This company did a great job. They worked as long as they needed to one day to get the job done in two days. They give you a 10 year guarantee which is transferable to another owner. They clean was wonderful. I highly recommend them.

Lane House was excellent! They cleaned up well. It is so nice to work with a company like them. They were supposed to come out on Saturday and did not come until Sunday without a call. However, we were very pleased with the work. I would use them again in the future and would recommend them to others.

The whole process was easier then I expected. The owners worked with me to schedule the install date that I wanted. The company communicated with me everything I needed to know about the job. They returned phone calls in a timely manor. The crew was great. They showed up on the day and time that was scheduled. The crew was very conscientious. They cleaned up the job site after each day and did a great job cleaning up when they were done. I have done many residential and commercial projects and Lane House was one of the best contractors I have worked with to date.

They didn't come by when I was home. I told them I wanted a tilted skylight because it has the potential to leak with a flat skylight. We had a Saturday scheduled for us to meet but they did not show up. They said because it snowed they were not working. I told them not to work until I was home. They broke my skylight while I was gone and there was glass and dust in my home. They did fix it however. I told them they do need to finish the inside wood and the outside metal flashing but the two men who came back did not want to do the work. They did finish and I paid them.

We have an older brick 1 1/2 story house with steep pitches and a detached garage. There were 3 layers of roofing shingles that needed to be removed. We also needed a piece of aluminum siding on one of the main peaks that had been blown off in a storm and a new gutter on the garage. After pulling up the shingles it was determined that some new plywood sheets were needed. Harold called before moving forward to ask if I wanted to see the damaged wood. Harold was our salesman. He was very responsive to our calls. He came out to the house numerous times prior to the work, during the job and after the job was complete. We had some issues with roofing debris in the gutter but Lanehouse paid for the plumber to root out the debris. Our plumber was amazed that a roofing company would stand by their word of taking care of this issue. The crew did a great job of cleaning up each day and when the job was complete. They rolled the yard with a magnetic roller to pick up any nails. Overall, Lanehouse was a great company to work with. They do what they say they are going to do and they do it right and take care of any issues that arise in a timely manner. I was very impressed with the way they run their business. We have a summer home that needs a new roof and I will definitely give Lanehouse Construction a call for this job too! If you are planning on getting a new roof - be sure to include Lanehouse when getting bids.

They came out pretty quickly. They were wonderful. Their price was lower then the other quote that we had gotten. They did a great job. I would recommend them to friends and family.

Did not do business with them. Will never do business with them.

The people we spoke to were very nice and they even called to confirm the appointment. Bert called that day to say he was in the neighborhood early, if we were interested in having an earlier appointment, which worked out well. He was nice enough, clearly a worker rather than a sales person. He took a look at what we wanted to have done and basically told us that it was a smaller job than what they'd want to take, but since we're Angie's List members, if we really wanted them to do it, they would. We chatted a little bit with him, about other potential projects and then he left. We got a generic "ballpark" idea of what our job would cost, but nothing written. We declined to have them do that job since they clearly weren't interested. He did seem willing to do roofing in our area, which is apparently not particularly common. We would consider having them do an estimate for that and other work.

I joined Angie's List for this project. I selected 3 companies to call for estimates for a leaking detached, double-car garage roof. Only one, Lane House, set up an appointment with their sales rep, Harold Fitzgerald. Because of the chance to talk over what I really needed (including the fact that my original house gutters were not pitched correctly and were causing internal plaster and external tuckpointing problems) and because I had not yet heard from the other 2 companies, a week or so after Harold's inspection and estimate, I decided to go with Lane House. Harold had told me that many companies don't expend energy on garage roofs, especially during an extremely rainy time like the one in St. Louis in March-April. He spent time informing me of lien wavers, insurance, bonding, the need for a ridge vent, the need for good but not excellent windows, the fact that plywood or plank needs would not be evident until existing roofs were off, and even the fact that Leaf Relief, their "gutter helmet" alternative, was slightly more expensive than some other guards. Before I had made the final decision to go with them, Lane House offered to put a tarp over the holes in the roof, which they did after a few days (the cost would have been $200 if I hadn't gone with them). It took another couple of days and another rain for me to realize they hadn't covered one of the main holes; fortunately they returned to cover the remaining hole and did the work the next day, after another rain. Two teams got everything but the windows done in one day about a week after I requested work; I expect the window installation about a week from now (2 weeks after roof installation). They had to remove 3 existing roofs and had to replace quite a bit of rotted wood; even with a $250 discount given to me as a courtesy, the final cost came in at $700 over the original estimate. To give justice to Lane House, I asked them for their cost strictly based on garage roof, gutters, and vent -- $1,816 -- more than the $1,554 and $1,425 estimates I eventually received from the other 2 companies, who were too slow to respond and who didn't meet with me. Even though Lane House Construction turned out to (most likely) cost more, they were the full-service company.

In 2006 Kerry House and his crew did a major repair to our house after a severe hailstorm. About a year later we discovered that the original skylights were leaking and their wood frame had rotted. This was in no part due to Lane House Construction. We decided to have the troublesome skylights removed. We called Lane House and they remembered us right away. Kerry gave us an estimate and the work was performed satisfactorily even though it was winter and the weather was not accommodating.

This is the second time I have used this company and plan to have them do some more work in the spring. The company was quick to respond to my inquiry. When they came out to do the estimate they spent time to introduce the company and to explain the work and the material options that were available. It was clear that they took pride in their work. The crew that showed up to do the work was friendly and courteous. They did a fine job and a thorough clean up afterwards.

Professional, seemed interested in the job, not just the other jobs, All the people I spoke to were courteous. Explained all aspects of the projects. They seemed to be looking after the job and the customer.

They were responsive to my questions, concerns & were very customer service oriented. They took care of filing the necessary paper work with the insurance company and the 3rd layer found. Did a very thorough job cleaning up & picking up stray nails.
