Although they completed it as we discussed in a timely and seemingly professional manner, the next time it rained the leak came back.We called and they said they would come fix it. They didn't show up. We tried 3 more times and they didn't return calls and never came to follow up. Finally we called as if we were a new customer and made an appointment to give us an estimate. They never showed up. That's when we joined Angie's list and are now looking for a new roofer. I just wished we'd joined sooner. It's so disappointing to have people take advantage and not stand behind their work!

Description of Work: They replaced the roof and it leaked. When I pointed that out to the owner, he said they would be back to fix it "tomorrow". No one showed so I had to get another contractor to fix the leaks.

I strongly warn against using this company. If you do use them for a roof, be sure to budget extra for a separate company to finish their work and to repair damage done to your house. Our roof was old and had a leak, so we contacted several roofing companies and decided to go with Zach at Kirkwood roofing because he gave a reasonable estimate and was recommended to us by a friend. He forgot about the initial estimate appointment, so I called to reschedule, which I now regret. We paid to have our roof removed and a new roof installed. They did the work promptly, took two days. This was in December. In the Spring, once the ice had thawed and it began to rain, our ceiling collapsed and we found that our new roof had a massive new leak near the skylight. I called Zach immediately. First he told me it must have been storm damage to our house. Then he refused to come and look at our roof until I filed a homeowners insurance claim. He made two appointments to look at our roof, which he then cancelled. It took about a month for his crew to come out, during which heavy rain was pouring into buckets in our crawlspace. The last week of this month, I was literally calling him twice a day, to be sure he would actually come to our house and look at our roof. Finally, he said the skylight had sprung a leak, which had nothing to do with his work. He told me he would fix this for $200, but, probably due to miscommunication, his worker told me he'd fix it for $50. So we paid the $50. This fixed the leak for about a week, but it returned shortly after. Over the next several weeks, I made three different appointments with this company, but they cancelled each of them. Finally realizing they simply were not interested in honoring their warranty on our roof, I contacted several other roofing companies. These other roofing companies all told us the skylight had been improperly installed by Kirkwood roofing. I paid $500 to have the skylight properly installed, which fixed the leak. We are now in the process of repairing our collapsed ceiling, which resulted from incompetent workmanship by this company.
Description of Work: We paid for our roof to be removed and for a new roof to be installed.

I needed some repair work on my roof to fix a few leaks. Zach Reider came out and gave me a great estimate for the work. Zach is very personable and I enjoyed talking with him a lot. He said that they were scheduling about a week out from when they receive a notice to proceed. After giving Zach the go-ahead we spent an entire month waiting for them to come out and fix the roof. Time and time again I would call to see where we were on the schedule and Zach would tell me that they had to pull the guys they had scheduled for my job onto another job. He would tell me he would call me back the next day to reschedule and then I would never hear from him. After giving them five second chances we had to pull the plug and find another contractor. What frustrated and disappointed me the most was the lack of communication. In the numerous times that Zach said they would be out to do the work not once did he take the initiative to call and apologize and give me a reschedule date when they didn't show up.

Project went great. Their estimate was very fair. We have a 100+ year old home and the old shingles were installed by a previous owner on top of a slate roof. Kirkwood roofing removed the old roof(s) down to the wood and replaced 70 linear feet of rotted wood. The job was quite difficult due to the steep angles of our roofs. Job done in 2 days. They took their time and Jose and his crew did a meticulous job in placing the new roof with all new flashing's and tying into the flat roofs etc. They even re-leveled our gutters and water tested them. They did a great job cleaning up which was no small task given the old slate and shingles all came down. Our new roofs looks great and has had no issues since last fall despite the rough weather. By comparison our neighbor had their roof replaced and not only was the job site left a mess but they are already having issues with the roof itself.
Description of Work: Replaced all shingled roofs on our 100+ year old home with a new 30yr architectural style tamko roof.

Technician was polite and punctual. Offered us a deep discount on materials he had on hand, but it didn't match the roof. I liked that, but we chose a more established roofer.

Requested an estimate for work to solve a leak that was occurring from around a chimney into the living space. Zach Reider of Kirkwood Roofing came out and survey my home. Kirkwood Roofing recommended new flashing around the chimney to solve the leak. I was guaranteed verbally that it would solve the leak. I made it very clear that the LEAK was the most important thing to me. For a bit more, they would also replace the roof with a 25 year shingle. The estimate was competitive--it was not the least expensive and it wasn't the most expensive. References checked out when I called later. I decided to move forward with the estimate and a installation date was scheduled. The good news is that the new roof and flashing was completed the same day it was started. I left for work around 730 and the shingles were delivered to the house, and when I got home most of the roof appeared complete. It was a few hours more (it was dark outside) before the work was completed. The bad news is that the leak was not fixed. Despite being "guaranteed" that new flashing and roof would solve the leak problem, it did not. Communicating with the company after being confronted with this fact was a mixed bag. At first, they seemed interested in solving the problem. They came by to inspect the quality of the work performed, they made sure the flashing was done properly, they even mortared part of the chimney when they believed it was the source of the leak. Unfortunately, they stopped being responsive when nothing solved the leak issue. Their next tactic was to blame other parts of the home: the gutters. Several gutter companies were consulted and their response was almost identical: the gutters are fine. The problem isn't the gutters. When it was clear that the owner Kirkwood Roofing and owner Joe Turner and was no longer interested in dealing with this problem, I filed a small claims suit to recoup some of the expense spent on the failed leak work. However, efforts to serve Mr. Turner or Kirkwood Roofing failed. In other words, they refused delivery of the certified letter sent from the court and efforts to serve him in person by a 3rd party failed. I was told by the special process server that Mr. Turner is especially difficult to serve. At this time, the lawsuit is still outstanding.

I found them on Angie's List. It took over three months to get a reply from them. I called them several times but, did not get any response at all. When I finally spoke to the owner, he apologized and told me what the problem was and why he was not able to respond to me. They did the work quickly and very well. They do not initiate the deal when you call them and it?s good to talk to the owner. However, once they do start the work they are very good.

They were very responsive and friendly. They talked me through the job and explained the proper placement of the vents but were receptive to my thoughts as well.
Description of Work: They added five roof vents and two additional vents so that a bathroom vent and a kitchen exhaust were venting to the outside instead of just to our attic.

THEY WERE WILLING TO DO A MINOR REPAIR WHICH WAS CAUSING A LEAK. IT WAS A VERY PLEASANT EXPERIENCE FOR US. WE HAD OTHER ESTIMATES AND THEY WANTED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE ROOF, WITHOUT EVEN INSPECTING TO SEE WHAT MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSING THE PROBLEM. IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE.
