Ken's Affordable Tree Service

I know this is a long post but everything (I hope) is worth reading for someone that needs a tree removed with a great company. Over the past few weeks, I had been getting quotes for a large oak tree that was killed by galls. Ken was in the low to mid range on pricing and was the only one that immediately sent over insurance coverages. He couldn't match the low bid, but came very close and was very honest. He even gave me options on payment and the number of a stump removal service separately as he said that would be cheaper for me rather than have his people stand around while 1 or 2 people removed the stump. The tree removal was above and beyond what was expected. his crew was on time and dressed appropriately, no cut-off shirts and shorts, or shirtless employees. They were all constantly working in the heat of the day for nearly 6 hours. As the tree was being removed, the employees cleaned my yard and adjacent yards of any debris. When the job was done, I paid Ken and told him how hard and well his crew worked. Before he would accept payment he wanted me to look around and make sure I was happy with the job they did. He verified again that I was happy with the work and he was paid. Subsequently, 3 of my neighbors approached me and wanted to tell me how good of a job Ken's company did. with the tree, cleaning, and making sure their yards were taken care of as well. One neighbor even commented that he got scammed by DIFFERENT tree service that he paid and they never came back to finish the job. He wishes he would have found Ken's at that time. I would recommend this tree service to anyone. It was a great experience from the professional quote, to the end result of the removal of the tree. Also, his referral, of the stump grinding was excellent as well with pricing, professionalism, and end results as I had some other stumps removed on my lot.

He did a fantastic job. Took down tree and removed the stump. You couldn't even tell that a tree had been there. Clean up was wonderful.

Ken was very quick to respond to my request for quote. His quote was very reasonable and he had us on his schedule within a week. His guys showed up on time and were very professional. They took care to protect my lawn as well as my neighbor’s lawn. They laid down plywood to protect the lawn from damage by the limbs as they came down and also from the tractor equipment used to haul the limbs to the chipper. Although Ken did not provide a written quote, his handshake was good and he followed through on everything he said he would do. His guys did a great job on clean up. They even “fluffed” the lawn with a blower where it had gotten matted down. I would definitely use his service again!

Great! Received a prompt bid and the work was completed promptly as scheduled. Appreciated the great communication and excellent clean up of property. Perfect!

This is the second time that we've used Ken and both times were very good experiences. The first time was a tree removal. His men were very professional and did the work in a timely, efficient manner. Ken was on site both times directing his crew as they moved from tree to tree. Bottomline is that the work was done for a fair price in a timely fashion. After the trimming was done, his crew cleaned up and left for their next job. I would recommend Ken and I will use his services again.

It went great. It was very interesting watching them take down the tree. It went faster than I thought it would and when they were done you couldn't even tell they had been there other than the tree being gone .

The entire process was frustrating. Ken came out to look at the two trees. He took notes and gave me a price. I called the next week to approve and move forward with the work. He said he needed to come back out to look at the trees. Apparently, he didn't have notes or remember what was discussed. Great, this means 3 appointments to get the job done. So, I had to take additional time from work. He would call and leave a message saying, "hey, it's Ken, call me in the morning and we'll take a look" when I already had an appointment the next afternoon. Then, I called the next morning and he clearly didn't know who I was or what I was talking about. I reminded him, and he said "okay, I'll see you at the appointment then." He showed up early to the appointment and seemed put out that I needed to finish a business call until our scheduled time. It's not my fault that I can't sit at home waiting to see if he comes early. Then, he showed up and we looked up at the trees. He said, "Whoa, I didn't say that I'd deadwood the entire tree for that price. I think we're done here." He didn't even start a conversation about it. I asked what he thought we discussed, and he didn't really have an answer because he couldn't remember. It was very frustrating that he essentially said that I was lying about our first conversation. It was good that we decided to drop it, because I do not think he would have been able to remember which limbs to cut and I would have had a follow up call after the work and additional time off of work to deal with that. I'd suggest getting someone to manage the work and appointments, then find a way to track conversations so that you can remember what was discussed during the initial intake. Not a pleasant experience and I would certainly recommend looking elsewhere for help.

Ken came promptly and on time. Because power lines were near the tree, he was honest and said he couldn't do the work. He recommended two other tree services and gave advice on how to talk with them to get the best price.

The crew arrived on time was ready to work. Work was completed safely and professionally. The whole area was cleaned up after the job was finished. Everyone was very pleasant and worked together.

Excellent. First Ken proposed a date and kept me posted as that date drew near as we had to rely on weather. They also had to get the stump grinder into the back yard and they had to take it over my neighbors precious green lawn and roll back a portion of my fence to get it there. They protected their lawn and had the trees down and everything clean up and back in order in 4-5 hours. They disposed of the remains exactly as we had discussed and even protected my baby Red Bud tree. My neighbor even gave them 2 thumbs up! The cost was comparable or the same as other estimates that I had received. VERY happy with Ken's Affordable Tree Service and will use them again.

Work performed as contracted and in a timely manner. All debris was cleaned up. Excellent job at a competitive price.

It went well, ken was quick and had the job done within a few hours. Extremely quick and professional!

The service was excellent. Ken came out to my house the same day I called him and gave me a very fair estimate to remove the tree that I wanted cut down in my backyard. When they came out later that week to do the job, everyone was very professional and they completed the job without leaving any kind of a mess behind. This company exceeded my expectations and I would definitely use them in the future or recommend them to anyone else who is looking to get any type of tree work done.

Ken came out and gave us a very good bid for the work. He said he was "fully insured". We told him we needed to see proof of his insurance. He then told us he had liability but no workers' comp, but that he would personally guarantee that he would take care of his workers. We asked him to email proof of the insurance to us and he said he would. Time went by and no proof; my husband called and Ken said he'd send it over the week-end. He never did send proof, and never returned my husband's subsequent phone calls. We hired someone else.

I called Ken and and he was at my house the same day giving me an estimate. Super nice guy and I felt really comfortable with him and his team. They did a great job in a timely manner. They cleaned up really good and it went really smooth. I would highly recommend calling them. They answer the phone immediately and return any messages promptly. Very reliable

I placed the call in the afternoon and Ken returned my call within an hour. We made an appointment to meet at my house to look at the tree which was extremely large with an overgrown stump. Ken gave me all the pros and cons of removing it. He told me approximately when they could schedule the removal, what time they would start, how long it would take and the cost of the removal. I was very impressed with Ken’s straight-forward approach to my questions. There were no high pressure sales involved. The visit was strictly informational. I made the decision to use Affordable Tree Service several days later. We set up the date and the men showed up by 9:30 on the scheduled date. During the next couple hours, Ken texted me pictures of the tree removal progress. It was reassuring to see how far along they were as I was at work that day. When I came home, the tree was completely gone, stump removed a little below the sidewalk as discussed and my front yard and street were completely cleared of debris. Other than the removal, you couldn’t really tell they were there. I would highly recommend Affordable Tree Service to anyone who is looking for a competitively priced, courteous and professional tree removal service. You will not be disappointed!

They arrived on time and worked much faster than I had anticipated. They did a great job with clean up and didn't leave any branches or leaves on the ground. I am very happy with the work they performed.

This was the second tree that Ken has trimmed for us. Our gumball tree was huge but Ken thinned it out and it looks great and will minimize time spent cleaning up after it. Ken is always on schedule. He returns phone calls immediately and really cares that he gives you the results you expect. Ken is very professional and easy to work with. I would highly recommend Ken!

Ken was great to work with. I called, left a message and he returned the call very promptly. He met with me the next day and discussed the job. With such a big job, I really wanted to use someone with experience. The work performed was very timely and within the bid provided. They arrived that morning and began work right away, and were done by 3:00 that afternoon. Not only did they do a great job, and they climbed to great heights, literally, WOW, to remove with no bucket truck or anything, they did a nice job cleaning up all the branches and many many sweet gum balls etc.. after the job was finished. They even took some branches I had at the back of my yard for me as well. He also got a stump grinder for me to take care of the large stump left following the tree removal. I was very comfortable and at ease throughout the entire process as Ken took much time to explain how the work would be done as well as the time needed to complete. I am very happy. I would definitely recommend Ken's Affordable Tree Service, as well as use them again if I am in need of future Tree Services.

Great~friendly, professional and tidy.

I was very pleased with Ken's Affordable Tree Service. I called several tree removal contractors to get bids on the job and not only was he the only one that called back, he called me back immediately and gave me a bid that very same day. We had 4 large trees we wanted removed from our backyard and another tree we wanted trimmed back. He started the work within the 2 week time frame that he gave me. Both he and his staff showed up on time and called to let me know when they were on their way. They were very professional and explained to me what they were doing throughout the process. I was thinking that it would have been a 4 hour job but they were completely finished in under 2 hours. At the end of the job, Ken wanted me to take a close look at everything to make sure we were satisfied. I couldn't of asked for a more smooth process. I highly recommend Ken's Affordable Tree Service!

A week later and they have never answered my email. Can't review their work, but i am unimpressed with their customer service so far.
