K V Tree Service

The work went well and was speedy. The owner used about a five to seven man crew. He used a lift crane to cut branches down and lowered them with ropes to his team. His team used used a powerful wood chipper to handle the branches and saws to cut limbs into manageable sizes. They also hauled away the trunk of the tree on a flatbed truck. Clean Up: They laid plywood under their equipment that was on our grass to keep the grass from being damaged. They also swept up the street and grabbed lose debris that was in our yard from the tree. Sidenote: The tree was about three feet from our home so I was especially concerned about roof damage but the crew took great care not to damage our house.

Excellent and it cost one third of what the high bid was.

In late June 2014 our elderly neighbor contracted with K V Tree service to remove a tree located about 5 feet from our property. We live in a neighborhood in which property lines are not marked with fences, walls, etc. During the course of the removal, bushes on our property were trampled. Additionally they spilled chainsaw oil and left a trampled container of chainsaw oil at the job site. We pointed this out to our neighbor, who is elderly, had not looked to see what had been done until we called his attention to it, and was not in a position to deal with it himself. We also took pictures of the damage. He gave me his contact at the company, Vern, whom we contacted. I had two conversations with him. Initially, he said that he would look at the site, but after a day or two with no response, I called again. The second conversation made it clear that this was not a high priority, and that he'd try to look at it on Monday, 6/30. Our neighbor had a separate landscaping service clean up the site, but the bushes, which are large and old, were not pulled back to their former position. We were out of town for two weeks starting 6/28, and upon our return, we found a message from our neighbor saying that K V had looked at the site, and said that the bushes had always been that way, and we simply ought to trim them. It should be obvious to a casual observer that this is not the case. One large bush was leaning on a previously free-standing firewood pile, which is on our property. This wood pile also was partially tipped over. It had been put there only in May 2014, with logs that were cut when we had a tree removed. Additionally, a large branch of one displaced bush was leaning on, and pulling down, multiple smaller branches of another bush, another indicator that the displaced bush had not "always been that way". The bushes have scrape damage and broken branches on the side facing the stump of the tree that was removed. Either K V Tree Service did a minimal inspection of their job site, or simply didn't want to deal with the damage that they did, or both. Subsequently, I tried using a car jack to raise the bush off of the wood pile, and prop it up, but the fix only lasted until the next wind storm. The least K V Tree service could do is pull the bushes back to their former position and stake them. They have a good reputation Angie's list and the BBB, but in this case they really dropped the ball.

Excellent!. Called 3 tree sevices for estimates. Allen's Tree Service was for $5700. The next was for $2700. K-V Tree was for $1500 and took out the extra huge stump for free. Morale : Angie's list is not sufficient. They use it to overcharge people. Always get at least 3 bids.

The crew arrived about 1 1/2 hours after the agreed time, started work immediately, worked quickly and efficiently and did a decent clean-up job. They had their own chipper and made fast work of the removed material.

The only trouble was their phone numbers weren't working when I tried to contact them... Couldn't even leave a message. Glad they tracked me down with their caller ID. They came one date and did $400 worth of trimming by climbing my trees. Did a great job and were very careful with my gardens. Then they returned a couple days later and used their bucket truck to cut another $400 worth of branches up very high in several trees. Kenny and his son are very careful and do a terrific job of cleaning up after the trimming. Already suggested them to my neighbors who had a very large dead tree removed for $1200. I hear their phone problem is fixed.

Would be nice if they would just return the call and say they can't do the work.

It went very smoothly. On the 19th, Ken left a message that they wanted to come out and trim my tree the 20th or 21st of February. On the 20th, Thursday, the windiest day yet this year, They came out, with a 2 truck crew at about 3 pm (per my neighbors - I was at work), they finished up about 4:30- I came home after 4, and met a couple of them, they cleaned up everything and did a good job. I would hire them again.

Never returned our call to schedule an appointment.

Did not receive a response after the first call. Called again and spoke to Vern who indicated that he would be out on either Friday the 6th or Monday the 8th. It was a no show on both occasions. He did not call. We called again. Vern showed up on the 16th and left a bid on the door but it did not include all the work that we wanted completed.

Called yesterday and was able to come out today.

This is the third time I've used them and there's no one else I would call.

Very professional company, but the bid was too high I decided not to work with them. I ended up hiring Dorsey Tree Service instead, which did the same job and saved me $300.

They were good and knew what they were doing. They didn't mess around and shredded it up with the big chipper and cleaned up excellently. They had to go between my house and my next door neighbor's driveway and didn't leave even a chip out there. They cleaned up everything. The price was real nice and they were here on time.

KV Tree Service came out the day following my initial call to give me an estimate on cutting down and removing a 60 foot maple tree in my back yard. KV Tree Service's estimate was below the next lowest estimate I received by more than half. A team of 5 experts arrived at my house at 8:45 AM. They worked hard, efficiently, and expertly from the moment they arrived to the time they left. It was the sort of operation that you know just from watching them that they have done this work many times, and knew exactly how and what to do. Every person on the team had a job to do, and they did them tirelessly and perfectly. By 10:45 AM, they were sweeping up. It took a mere 2 hours to completely remove this HUGE tree. KV Tree Service did an excellent job from start to finish, all the way from lowering utility lines and laying down sheets of plywood to protect the side walk, to raking the lawn and sweeping up the saw dust. As if their low bid wasn't good enough, they gave me a 5% Angie's List discount to boot! KV Tree Service: Thank you for a job WELL DONE!!!

Ken came out to quote on tree removal, clearing of brush and removing dead branches/cleaning up several large trees. His bid was extremely high and not competitive.

I did not have work done by this company. My neighbor did and they asked to use my drive way to access her back yard to remove a tree (even though she has a drive way too). They totally distroyed about half of my flower bed and left it in a mess. I have photos I am posting here as show whow they disrespected my property. The one worker did ask if I was "attached" to these flower. I said yes, since I did plant them but if there was a litttle damage I would understand. The operative word here was "little". I expected a few leaves to be damaged, I did not expect the entire half of my flower bed to be ruined. I didn't expect pieces of plywood to be put on top of my three foot high day lilies and left there after the workers left. I didn't expect both of my sedums to be broken off at the roots. I didn't expect both of my trellises to be taken out of the ground and tossed into the flower bed on top of my oriental lillies which were just about 6 inches tall.

Excellent. It was a difficult job because of the location of the trees and power lines. They had to take down part of my neighbors fence gate which they fixed after they left. They worked over the weekend to finish the job.

K-V was great to do business with. They were quick to give me a REASONABLE proposal and worked with me to accommodate my schedule. They showed up when expected, worked efficiently and were very careful and conscientious. I highly recommend this company!

He came out and did the estimate and as well as the actual tree cutting. Sometimes they send out the appraiser first and then the tree cutting guys come in next. However, with them it was the same person doing all the things, he was familiar with. He already knew what was going on. He was good. I actually had him do a couple of extra things that I hadn’t thought about at the time we got the estimate in. He charged us extra $25 to do tree trimming of other trees. He worked within that morning and did all of it. He went above and beyond. The only down fall with him was that, we did have a neighbor’s concrete steps cracked because the tree fell. We had to call him three or four times to come out and fix the neighbor’s steps. That was the only part we did not like about him, he kept saying he would come and do right in. She is an elderly lady and we had to keep following it up with him to make sure that it was done. That was the only down fall. His price was really good. Both estimates were all over the board. He was by far the cheapest. I think we would use them again.

We had a 100 year old pin oak next to the driveway that had many dead limbs and loose bark. Many limbs hung over our house. We first thought we would get it trimmed, but four different tree companies we called that looked at it indicated that it was in its last few years of life. We called K-V because of their ratings on Angie's list (and I also saw their ad in the Angie's list monthly newsletter). Theirs was our first estimate. Not only was the price the best (by a few hundred dollars) for taking the tree down and grinding the stump, but they said they could get it down in one day and also have all the remains of the tree gone as well. This time frame was important to us as we live on a very narrow cul-de-sac and any equipment in the street blocks neighbors' driveways. We wanted the least disruption to our neighbors as possible, and we also didn't want logs sitting on our lawn. The estimates we received ranged upward to $7000 and, moreover, one company wanted three days to get the tree down. The K-V crew arrived at 8:00a.m., exactly when we expected them, and the crew worked all day. The tree was gone and the stump ground down by 3:30pm. They left everything very clean of debris. We were amazed. We paid, and they pulled out. We did not use K-V Angie's list 5% off coupon because we decided that the price as quoted was more than fair. K-V did exactly what they said they would, and they did it with great efficiency. We are very happy with our experience with K-V.

Called K V and agreed on a meeting time that day (Friday). The person was punctual and came across as knowing what he was doing. We agreed on a price and work was started and completed the next working day (Monday) including a good cleanup of the area! I would definetly call K V again for future work.

Great, as usual with KV Tree Service. They had a crew of 6 working for at least two hours in the morning to get the tree down, and then 3 came back in the afternoon with a small stump remover they had rented in order to get at the stump in the middle of the deck. They said it took 2 and a half hours to dig it out. So that's about 20 man-hours altogether for $2000. The other bids I got were $3000 and $3800, so this was a good deal. They hauled away everything and left the deck, yard and driveway clean. They went out of their way to get the stump out, since the stump removers they usually use were too big to get through our back gate.

It went really well. He was super. It was so hot that day, and they worked until the job was done.
