Years ago my husband had previously put up the drywall and joint compound in the basement. He had no experience, and did a sloppy job. He used too much compound, and the end result was raised areas along the joints of the drywall. We primed the walls, and covered up the mess with wall paper. Last fall I removed the wall paper and glue, and tried to sand down the raised areas. I then hired a young spouse of a distant relative to help me smooth out the walls. He did not know what he was doing either, and used too much mudding compound. The end result was that all that had to be sanded off. I then hired J. P. Frisch. He charged $50 per hour, but I thought if the company did good work, it would be worth it. John had Patrick do my work. Patrick came on a Friday 2/14/14 and used spackling compound to smooth out the areas. He spent 8 hours working in the basement. I did not know what he was doing. After he left, I checked the basement. As I was trying to keep down the cost of the job, I then worked all day Saturday and Sunday (about 20 hours) to sand down rough, raised areas and used drywall joint compound to smooth out the areas. Early Monday morning, I then painted primer on the area, as Patrick told me I did not need primer. I did not prime the entire basement walls as Patrick was coming to do the painting on Monday morning. Patrick came on Monday and Tuesday and I worked with him all day both days to finish up the job and paint. The paint job on the stairwell going down the basement steps still needs some touch up paint as the absorption rate of the primed areas and non primed areas was different. I ended up working 4 days myself Patrick then returned about 2 weeks later to hang a door going into the furnace room. John Frisch told me Patrick would pick up the door at the lumber company, then come to my house. Patrick came to my house first, then went to the lumber company, then back to my house. This took over an hour for which I was paying $50 an hour. He said he did not have the power tool to drill the holes for the door knob, etc, and had planned to wait for John Frisch to come later that morning. He used a manual tool and finished the job of hanging the door. I paid $150 for him to pick up the door and hang it, 3 hours of work. I had planned for him to do additional jobs that morning, but decided to just pay him and find someone else later to do the rest of the work.

I have mixed feelings about how things went. On the pro side, the gentleman showed up, was very nice, and did quality work. On the con side, I REALLY didn't like how the final charge was calculated. Once my 4 hours was up, I was asked if I wanted to continue. Seeing as all that was left was painting the inside of the door jamb, I thought that could get painted and one other of my smaller tasks completed for a 1 hour ($50) charge. The gentleman had arrived at 7:10 - 7:15 (I swear, I'm going to start having contractors sign in with a start time). At 12:20 I told him that I was out of money and he really needed to wrap up (he was still working on painting the inside jamb). At 12:45 he had cleaned up, put all his tools away, and presented me with a bill for 2 hours since they only bill by the whole hour. Now, I didn't expect to get charged for the time for him to put his tools away, but let's just say that's fair for me to have to pay for. That means I paid for 2 hours and only got 1.5. At that point though it would have obviously took him that 30 minutes to pull out the tools again and put them away, and I certainly couldn't afford to pay for 3 hours if I went another 5 minutes over. So, while I questioned the bill, I went ahead and paid since I didn't have proof that he got there late. I certainly wouldn't do business with them again though - I hate when I feel like a business is trying to squeeze every last penny they can out of me.

Purchased a deal for 4 hours of handyman services. We had a kitchen cabinet that was pulling away from the wall, looked as though it might completely fall off of wall. Company was flexible around our work schedules, worker arrived at our house early (7am). Quickly determined why the cabinet was coming loose (due to water behind the wall and mountings becoming soft; someone else is taking care of that problem), took everything down to determine what he would need to complete the job. He had to leave to go to Home Depot to buy the supplies needed, I don't recall if that was included in time. He got everything and remounted the cabinet beautifully. Cleaned up afterwards. I remember thinking that I wish I had something else for him to do, as I don't think he worked for quite the full 4 hours. I did get a bill afterwards for the materials that needed to be purchased, but it wasn't much (less than $30). I would use the company again!

Patrick was very professional and did a great job.
Craig was assigned to my home. He was punctual. He introduced himself to me and then asked for the list of expected work. He helped me to prioritize the work. I had purchased material for the jobs and he was able to use it. Thank you Craig for taking care of my "honey do-list."

The job was done well. We had paid for 4 hours of handyman service and figured that was more than enough time to clean some old paint from a door jamb and paint a door/door jamb. Unfortunately it took quite a bit longer than I expected it to for the size of the job. Of course, we were charged the hourly rate for the time that went over the four hours, which nearly doubled the total price. Not sure things were done as efficiently as possible but rather the goal was to be able to bill us at a higher rate after the first four hours had passed. Again the job was done well but because of the price and because it took quite a bit longer than I would expect to do a door and the surrounding jamb, I don't think we would use them again.
Description of Work: Painted my back door (exterior only) and door jamb
Jon arrived on time. Resolved what wrong with the electrical outlet in the upstairs attic bedroom. Replaced all outlets in the room so they were matching color. Replaced several light fixtures in the basement which looked original to the house and some had stopped working. Replaced ceiling light fixture in the sunroom. I am delighted with the results and the price. I would use JP Fritch Construction Services again.

I heard back from J P Frisch Construction Services Inc the next day. I called, Angie's List gave me a number to call. I called that number at a voice mail message. That evening he called me back. We set up a time for the work but that's roughly about a month away. He has been responsive, yes. I don't know if it is C-Band but it is a 12 foot wide dish or maybe 6 foot wide. It is a huge thing. It is not like your DirecTV or DishTV, it is a huge thing. No, it should not take any more than the special. He didn't give me a price. The deal said one man for 4 hours or 2 men for 2 hours. It is a 2 man job to get that thing down. We just wanted it down because we haven't used it for years. I can't find the ladder anymore so we needed someone up there and get the work done.
Description of Work: I bought the big deal from J P Frisch Construction Services Inc. I have a couple of projects that involve getting on the roof. One is to remove an old C-Band satellite dish that is mounted on a pole. I just told him that I needed 2 men for 2 hours.
Talked to John Frisch to arrange a date and time to use an Angie's Deal that we purchased for a full day of handyman's services. A little surprised that a full day = 6.5 hours instead of 8. However, Bob P worked very efficiently and competently so we felt we really got a good full day's work. He showed up right on time, knew what he was doing and got right to work. He made a couple of suggestions that really worked great. We would not only hire John's company again, but we would request Bob as the handyman.
Description of Work: Handyman services, such as caulking windows, installing new closet doors, repairing door thresholds.
He arrived promptly and got right to work. He removed the drywall very neatly so that it was a nice square access. He removed the shelves and carried them out. After he was done, he cleaned up all the mess.
Description of Work: I had to have some drywall removed from a basement closet that had been installed in front of the gas meter and pipes. I also had some shelving that was partially in front of the area and had to be removed.
Scheduling was a breeze. Bob showed up bright and early at 7 am and went through my list like a real pro. He was courteous and professional. I started out with just a couple of things not knowing how much he could get through and then I kept giving him things to do and he did them right away. I did reduce his time by having a lot of the materials on-hand. I ran out of trim so I ran to Lowe's so that he could keep working. I'd much rather pay him to work and do the running around myself so that he could get more done. Highly recommend this company!!! I will be using them on a regular basis and have already booked them again for another day.
Description of Work: I bought an Angie's Deal for four hours of handyman work and ended up pay for four additional hours at $50/hour. My list included: putting up 3/4" trim in my daughter's room; putting up two end pieces of decorative trim on my front porch and caulking around all of the trim along the edge of my large front porch; fixed the seal around a greenhouse window I have off of my kitchen; drilled holes in a rolling filing cabinet frame so I could extend it to be longer; installed a window unit air conditioner on the second floor of my home; replaced the kick plate underneath the dishwasher in my kitchen; cut down some wood to replace a rotted out shelf in my bathroom vanity from a leak (preventing me from having to replace my entire vanity); installed weather stripping around one door.
Setup an appointment for the vendor to be at my place and he was right on time. He was friendly and very professional. We then went through my list of items I wanted repaired or replaced. He took measurements as we went through each item. He then left and went shopping for the things I needed. (This is a big plus. I don't like to shop) He returned within an hour and began fixing things. I work from home and during a conference call I asked he to not make any noise and he was fine with my request. He went to a different area of my home and continued to work on things he could do quietly. After the conference call was complete he resumed with the noise. I had purchased a 4 hour coupon on Angie?s list knowing that he couldn't finish in 4 hours. He continued to work steady for 9.5 hours. He didn?t take breaks or stop to eat lunch. I would have been fine with him taking a break but he kept working. When everything was done, we went back over each item to make sure it was working as I expected. He didn?t have to do any rework. I was very impressed and would use this company anytime. Thanks Patrick.

Many of our staircase spindles were so loose they were flopping back and forth, and some had broken and needed to be replaced. Jon came by several weeks ago to do an estimate, which was $250. He explained a couple of different variables which could make the job cost more, i.e. having to have duplicate spindles made if he could not find a match. He informed me it would probably take him a week or so to look for a duplicate spindle. He had some trouble finding a match but did, and called me to schedule the repair time. He arrived exactly on time and took four hours to complete the work. He did an excellent job. The staircase looks and functions the way it should; it is stable and attractive. He put down cloths on the floor to keep things clean. He cleaned and vacuumed when he was done. Stairs can be a tricky and expensive problem, and I was so pleased to have had my problem resolved so reasonably. Jon was very professional and kept me informed all along the way; there were no surprises. I will definitely hire him again.

We called John for a last minute need prior to closing on the sale of our house - installing a new pedestal sink in the master bath. We called on a Friday afternoon and John had one of his crew members at our house the following Wednesday (as promised) at 7am. The contractor had the new sink installed, the holes patched and painted in just 2 hours. It looks great and took the stress off us getting it done on our own! This is the second time we've used this company and we will definitely use them again in the future.

I've used them in the past and have been impressed both times. I purchased a deal for 4 hours of labor for $149. Installation of both doors took 6 hours so I paid an additional $100 (they offer a $50/hr rate with the deal). This was the second appointment. At the first one, I had bought the wrong size door. John worked with it for an hour before deciding it would be best to return the door and custom order a new one. They then rescheduled me once I had the new door. I wasn't charged for the time for the first visit which was a pleasant surprise. Jon called the night before to confirm. All interactions with Jon and John have been very professional and as a single woman, I appreciate feeling comfortable while I'm there as well as if I leave for awhile. Highly recommend!
