J & J Masonry Restoration & Chimney Repair

Every thing went very well. We purchased the $99. coupon and within 24 hours we were contacted to set up an appointment. By the end of the week, someone had come out and assessed the work to be done. We were worried that the $99.00 would be a drop in the bucket of the repairs that were needed, but we were pleasantly surprised. The only cost that went over the cost of the coupon was $75. to replace a cracked chimney cap. The guys who did the work were friendly, skilled and efficient. We have more masonry work to do on our brick sidewalks, and we will definitely call J & J Masonry Restoration when the time comes to make those repairs.

During the summer a couple of pieces of bricks from the chimney had fallen to the ground. I did not have a ladder tall enough to inspect the area. When the siding on the house was being replaced, those workers found that we had a large crack in the chimney. They indicated that it had to be fixed before freezing weather to prevent further damage. When J&J came out to provide an estimate, the presence of white stains on the brick indicated leakage of water from the concrete cap on the top of the chimney. We agreed on an estimated cost and date of work. They came at the scheduled time and began the job which entailed removing mortar from around the top of the chimney and replacing the damaged bricks. The initial estimate included complete coverage of the old concrete cap. However, after inspecting the cap, they found that the crack in the cap was smaller than anticipated and could be sealed rather than completely covered. They then reduced the bill by $100 to reflect the reduced scope of work. I appreciate their honesty in that there was no way I could have inspected this work at such a height. They also provided an acid wash of the exterior work area to remove the mineral stains and applied a sealant that will protect the brick for an extended period. The sealant was applied to the entire chimney. Afterward, the chimney looked new and with a uniform color from top to bottom. I was very satisfied with the work and especially with the honesty of the managers. While working they laid tarps on the ground to catch the gravel (mortar) that was removed. They did clean up the work area before they left. For two skilled craftsmen for a day and a half's work, I thought the price was very reasonable.

Jim showed up and assessed damage. Jim provided a very fair price for the amount of work which was to be done. The work was completed in one day and a follow-up acid wash was completed the next day. My chimney had been giving me problems for the last five years. Water was leaking into my attic. I've had several roofers come by and reflash the chimney. I'm happy to say the leak has been stopped the chimney looks great. I would definitely utilize the for my future needs and would highly recommend them to my family and friends. It was a very straightforward and professional experience.

They were very good. They replaced a few bricks and some tuck pointing. Also, they added a large cage outside at the top at the chimney. Therefore, nothing will get in there including rain, squirrels, leaves, etc.

Little late the day of the appointment, but they called and all went well after that. work looks good and they followed up. would use them again.

J and J Masonry did a great job. Jim actually came out twice to help me determine the best course of action. He scheduled the job to be completed within two weeks of the estimate. The team ended up having to do a little more work that originally anticipated, and did not charge me extra. Jim stuck with the price on the quote. Jim needed to come back a second day to finish up the work. He was unable to make it and called to let me know he would be here the next morning. He was very easy to communicate with and quick to respond to my calls. My chimney almost looks like new!

Appt was made, workers came out as agreed. Exceptional to deal with, quick contact, work and finishing. I will have them return for regular maintenance from now on.

It was satisfactory. The cracks were filled and the job is complete. The owner was responsive and professional each time we spoke 1)to get a free estimate 2) when he came out for the estimate 3)when he came back to acid wash the job the crew did as well as get paid for the job.

Gave estimate quickly. Showed up on time, did the work well, and on budget. One spot missed, so they returned quickly to fill it in.

I wanted an enclosed cap, and I chose to listen to Jim's advice regarding a custom one (created by another company), so it delayed the work a bit and was actually the most expensive portion of my payment: $99 (Big Deal) + $225 additional work in tuckpointing, gap-filling, and attaching the new cap + $487 for the custom cap = $801 TOTAL. The work delay was not significant: The time between order and work was 12 days. I appreciated Jim's professionalism, his crew's work, and his honoring my request for after-photos, which I can't figure out how to attach. Maybe Jim can -- I can send him optimized photos if he wants.

They (I think it was Lucas/Luke) did a great job. I was impressed that the owner came out during the project to check status. The wall looks great.

I called several companies on Angie's List. What made a difference in the selection was how thoroughly what was to be done was explained to me. From the initial call to the completion of the job, the crew was professional, friendly and thoroughly explained what needed to be done before, during and after the job was completed. They arrived and completed the work on time, this in spite of having difficulty finding bricks that matched my home's almost 30 year-old brick. They conferred with me and offered options, before permanently laying the bricks. They also took extra care by tuck pointing the corner giving it a professional look. It was something small, and not part of what had been discussed, but it made the area look much better and so it was greatly appreciated. One other point in their favor is that they accept American Express credit cards. My card offers monetary rewards for using it, so I appreciate businesses that accept Amex. Every little bit helps.

J&J Masonry Restoration and Chimney Repair were excellent. They did real good. They came out, looked at the work that was supposed to be done. We made arrangement, then he came out and he did a good job. It was quite a bit that I expected it to be but he said that was what was needed to be done.

i bought a coupon for 3 hours of masonry. I needed a bit more work than that and anticipated that I would pay an additional amount for that. Part of it involved getting a matching replacement stone for my stairs, which isn't easy since this stone hasn't been mined for awhile. I think they got busy and forgot about me, but when I brought it to their attention, they promptly came and did a whole bunch more than 3 hours. The job looks great

E-mailed the company and received a call the next day on a Sunday. They came by on Monday and inspected our plaster leak and the brickwork outside the area that was bubbled up. He inspected the brick and then told us how we could waterproof the area ourselves. He was polite, knowledgeable and very honest. We will call them back if this does not take care of the problem.

They came out saw what I needed at the front of the house and they said there would not be a lot they could do for that. They though that it wouldn't imporove it.

Very professional, left area neat.

They have not come out yet because I am having other work done on my roof. I plan to have them out soon to do the work.

J&J did a fantastic job. They sent a guy out to give me an estimate, the day after I called. They were considerably cheaper then the other estimate I received. It took them a few days to get back to me about when they were going to start working. They were very quick and efficient. They came to my house around 7:30 and were cleaned up by 11:30 am.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. The experience was very good. They were very flexible. They did extra work that I paid them for. They got there and we saw other things they could do and they were able to do them right away. They worked fast and efficiently. They stuck right to their bid. I didn't get competing prices; it seemed reasonable.

They did a great job. They worked quickly, but efficiently and cleaned up well. The mailbox looks good.

Inspected brickwork on April 12, 2013. Scheduled and performed work on May 15 and May 16, 2013.

I sent J and J Masonry an email requesting a bid on Sunday evening. James contacted me Monday morning and we set an appointment for the following morning. James arrived on time. He gave me an estimate on the spot which I felt was very reasonable and I asked him to put me on his schedule. He said he could do the job within the next two weeks and he would contact me a day or two before hand. On Sunday he call me to schedule and we set the date for the following day. Monday morning Jim and Luke arrived right on time and went to work. They completed the job promptly and left everything very tidy. Jim and Luke were friendly and professional. Before they left Jim patiently answered my questions about other problems we are having with the house and looked around to see if there were any other masonry issues that might be causing us problems. I am very pleased with the quality of the work performed and the prompt and professional manner of J and J Masonry. Thanks guys!
