I purchased an Angie's List $99 Big Deal in January 2013, and Jim Moore came to give estimate of above listed work, plus some caulking that needed to be redone around the joints between brick and wood siding. There was some question whether I would choose to repair and re-caulk exisiting windows, or outright replace windows on the house, so I didn't have Jim quote re-caulking around windows. After I decided to repair windows, I also decided I could handle the caulking Jim had quoted, and asked for an adjusted quote without the cost of caulking several areas. Jim was happy to requote over the phone, then scheduled for March 26th, which had to be postponed due to a late winter snow that left 6" or so on the roof. Then with a break in weather forecast in early April, they called and scheduled for April 1st, and showed up at 0800 as promised. Jim #2 (of J & J) came with another worker and accomplished all the stated work, and a few more spots we noticed that needed tuckpointing repair, still finishing at noon as stated during schedule of appointment. Jim did a good job matching my grey-reddish-blueish color mortar even though the house is 24 years old now. Jim came back on April 3rd to accomplish the acid wash to ensure no mortar sticks to brick face. All their work was done using tarps to catch the mortar debris and dust, and the worksite and yard are just as clean at end of job as before they came. Jim & teammate were very professional and courteous, and didn't mind me asking questions while they worked. I am happy to recommend them!

My experience with them was excellent. He was very timely and he did what he said he was going to do and it was to the penny of what he quoted us.

J&J contacted us promptly after we purchased the deal and were prompt to come out to provide an estimate for repairs. The big deal coupon was adequate to cover the work we needed. J&J did excellent work and were always prompt and professional. We'd use them again and recommend them without reservation.

Came next day to give estimate Agreed to price said he will do as soon as weather permits will call day before to let me know when coming. Called and came did work no mess did all work very professional

My brick veneer-clad house had one large area that needed tuckpointing and several smaller spots where the mortar had fallen away. J&J came out promptly, identified the places that needed work, and returned to perform it when the weather was warm enough. They were polite, tidy, efficient, cleaned up after themselves (leaving, for example, the hose neatly coiled - which it was not before) and carefully color-matched the new mortar to the old. Spotting some bad spots on second-floor windowsills that weren't mentioned in the report, he pointed them out to me and then repaired those, too, at no extra charge. I asked about any other spots that might need work in the near future, and was assured that everything is now in good shape. I could not be more pleased. J&J is an outstanding firm. They're the kind of people who give tradesmen a good name.

I had tried to purchase the coupon which I believe was $100 for four hours of masonry work, but it was sold out by the time I made the decision to do so. I called Jim Moore, the owner, and he apologized that the coupon was no longer available, but he offered to give me a significant discount, which included the cost of the materials which would have been extra with the coupon offer. Jim was able to work me in the next day that the weather was cooperative. He completed the work as requested, cleaned up well after the job, and came back the following Monday after the mortar had set to acid wash it. Jim was professional and courteous over the phone, and responded promptly to email. As the work was all outside, I did not have to be home, so we never had the chance to meet, but I would certainly use his service again should the need arise.

Jim and his partner were VERY easy to work with. They were reliable and trustworthy and did excellent work. They listened to what I wanted and met my requests in a friendly and cooperative manner. They were ALWAYS available by phone and in person to address my concerns or requests. They went out of their way to make sure I was happy with the finished product. When they had the lower stone wall built I did not like the shape and they took it down and redid it without any complaints or extra charges. They saw my concerns and addressed them in a VERY professional manner. I could not have wanted more from them than they gave. I referred them to a friend who had extensive work done and was also very pleased.

The only thing that slowed down the process was the winter weather! Jim was very good at keeping an eye to when he could complete the repairs - and as soon as the weather allowed, the work was done. I feel I got a very fair deal and the work appeared to be well done. Jim was very professional and easy to work with.

Jim Moore scheduled an appointment to review situation and provide free written estimate on 1/22/13. Followed with phone calls and scheduled to perform work on or about 2/12/13. I was not home to observe the work being performed but from a ground visual the work appears to be completed as quoted. Total cost: $650.00 Angie's List list discount: $400.00 (cost $99.00) Balanced paid: $250.00

Outstanding service by J & J Masonry. Jim Moore responded promptly to an email request about whether they would come out to O'Fallon IL for chimney repair on a rental property. He set an appointment, gave a very reasonable estimate and since the weather at the time of estimate was bitter cold in mid January, we didn't set an exact date for the repair. About a week later an unusual warm snap was forecast and we set up the repair for Jan 28, 2013. Day 1, they showed up early as they had stated, and accomplished all the mortar grinding, finding replacements for the bad brick (near match), repointing, and laying the new concrete chimney cap. The two Jim's (J & J) were both great to work with and didn't mind me watching and asking questions along the way during the process of their work. My project was a little more difficult than they predicted, so they weren't able to completely finish on day 1, but came back next day to accomplish the acid wash to ensure no mortar was stuck to face of brick. Day 2, done quick and early as they had predicted. Job site all cleaned up, and it was a very pleasant experience working with both of them. I plan to have them back to do some repointing on my home's brick face, and also a new chimney cap there. I'd highly recommend them for someone considering masonry or chimney repair.

The owners and I scheduled a date to start my project and they showed up as expected. They took measures to protect my plants and yard then went to work. The owner was onsite the entire time, overseeing the crew making sure things went well. He was friendly and easy to work with. The crew did an excellent job cleaning at the end of every work day. The project was done a few days ahead of schedule with no hidden costs or fees. My building looks great. I intend to use them again on my other properties and gladly refer them to my friends and family.

J&J Masonry's owner gave me a written estimate that was in the middle of 4 bids for rebuilding and capping 3 chimneys. I went with J&J Masonry because I was impressed with the owner/estimator Jim. He was friendly and knowledgeable, and his company was insured. J&J preformed the work on schedule, acted in a professional manner, had professional equipment, cleaned up their work site daily, and most importantly; the company did their own work. The owner was on the job daily to oversee the quality of the work, and answer my questions. I was so impressed with their attitude, and work that I kept adding on to the work order. I was charged according to the estimate, with no surprise or hidden charges showing up. These guys know their stuff. They have professional training and apprenticeships under their belts and it shows in their work and knowledge. I would recommend J&J masonry to anybody with any kind of masonry, tuck pointing, or stone work needs. They are very knowledgeable, polite, punctual company that will give you good value for your money and complete the work as scheduled.
