I am writing because I had read reviews about the unresponsive unprofessional behavior of the company. I have found Tony and his employees to be workmen, craftsman who know their business and who do a very good quality job. The fact that even though it had been months since he had done the initial work he responded in a timely way and fixed the problem. I have been recommending him to folks who see the work done on my home and want to know who did it. While Tony still is a little gruff in his interpersonal manner, I did not hire him to greet people when they come to my home or to spend hours chatting with me. He DOES the work.
Description of Work: I had work done resealing the foundation of my home in the fall. Last week found a spot that was cracking where work had been done. Contacted Tony and he responded same day. Came out on weekend with crew and resurfaced the area in need of repair.

The actual job went fine, but as soon as the cold weather came, all of the concrete cracked and began to lift off the driveway. They came back and repeated the same work, which of course didn't fix anything. Same result. They never honored their work and we repeatedly asked for our money back or a portion of our money back. The driveway looks worse than it did before and we have to hire another company to repair it. $5,000.00 dollars and our driveway looks HORRIBLE!

Tony and his crew did a great job in resurfacing a very old, ugly and unsafe garage floor. They patched all the deep holes and repaired all the cracks. The floor looks great! I called him on a Monday and he did the work on Thursday of the same week. They did an excellent job! They were very detailed oriented and did a great job of cleaning up. The crew was very professional - I would hire them again. Thanks guys!

While I have not had the work completed, Irish construction took the time to visit my house on a Saturday (scheduled through snap fix) and explain what would could be done and the approximate cost. I was very appreciative of their willingness to work with my schedule and provide a quoate on a weekend.
Description of Work: Irish construction provided me with a quote to seal some cosmetic cracks in my driveway and foundation.
Not what I expected. Yes, major repairs for inside work were done as discussed, but not all cracks were addressed or smoothed. They did not have any of their own equipment for interior cleaning, and they needed a shop vacuum. Instead they used my wimpy broom and mop. My hardwood floors required significant TLC after their visit. Exterior tuck pointing: it was wicked cold the day of service, but I was assured there would be no problems. New mortar did not match. I had to point out about a half a dozen areas of must-do here when I came home at sunset, one of which was my primary reason for service. They rebuilt a corner; it was declared no concern during our initial walk through, but I suspect it was underestimated and was the cause for 4 hours of delay. I left during the day and cannot attest to activities in my absence (9a-4p) I felt things were rushed and disorganized when I returned.
Description of Work: Tuck pointing as necessary on exterior. Plaster repair on ceilings and walls as necessary.

Everything we were asked to do , we did professionally and the job was not rushed. In reference to the cracks that were not addressed; they were not brought to our attention. Everything we were asked to do we complete in a professional manner. In reference to the mortar; it takes a while to settle in.. New mortar vs old mortar cannot be compared to one another. We do apologize for her doubt in our work.

Doing a kitchen renovation and discovered an old vent opening in the brick that had never been bricked-in or sealed. Called Irish Construction and they were at my home the next morning at 8:00 a.m. They did an excellent job, While there, they noticed a nearby area of brick that needed some minor tuck-pointing and they fixed that for me as well. Thorough clean-up too.

The best experience ever!!! I had my house piered and tuck pointing completed. Next was plaster repair work in my living room, dining room and office to repair the cracks created by my house settling. Tony, the owner, came to give me an estimate right on time. He was professional and courteous. They happened to have a cancellation that morning and asked if I wanted the work done that day. I had the day free so I agreed. In an hour I had all the smaller items removed from the rooms. The two-man crew showed up and helped move the larger items. They were friendly, courteous and professional. All the repairs were completed and they did a great cleanup job! When the owner of the piering company came to my home before, he said I would never get a plasterer to repair the large crack in my office so that it wasn't noticeable. He had 30 years of experience in the piering business. Well, Irish Construction proved him wrong. They matched the plaster work perfectly! While I'm satisfied with the tuckpointing work I had done, my only wish was that I knew about Irish Construction sooner so they could have done that too. Highly recommend!!

I am extremely pleased with this company! Quick, courteous responses to all my messages and friendly but professional demeanor on the phone and in person. Tony(Owner) and Gabrielle(Initial contact) were great, I sent out for bids from multiple highly rated companies in a batch and Irish Construction was the first to respond by a solid margin and they continued to be very responsive thereafter. They also delivered a fantastic bid for the work that was hands down the best and really outdid the competition. Between that and their existing high ratings here, I felt like I just couldn?t go wrong with them. After deciding on Irish for the job Tony and his crew were able to come out early the next day and get to work. They went at it quickly and efficiently, completing the job in good time and its great looking work. I really couldn?t be happier. I?m considering replacing my currently wood tie based retaining wall with one made of concrete/stone blocks one of these days and, while I?ve been playing with the idea of doing it myself, Irish is now definitely going to be on my mind after this experience.

I'd interviewed smaller companies who could not handle the scope of the job. The mortar between the stones had cracked over the years and to there were some significant repairs needed to the retaining wall. Irish Construction was recommended to me by an independent tuckpointer who respects the work and reputation of Irish Construction. The office was responsive and Tony came to look at the work the same week and completed the work the following week. They did a good job of matching the mortar and of repairing both the larger and the smaller cracks.

Of three mason businesses I called, all highly recommended on Angie's List, Tony was the only to answer the phone, and the others did not call back. Tony fit me in the following day and was able to assemble a whole crew at my house. The work was done in a day, and they came back the following day to do touch ups. I kept adding on work to do, as they were skilled at their trade and friendly. I would highly recommend them.

Our work and our reviews speak for themselves. We are a “no nonsense” company and we take a straight forward and honest approach to everything we do. Some people are looking for someone to hold their hand through the estimate and work process. We prefer the direct and upfront approach to working with clients. Most people appreciate and share in this sentiment; however this potential client wanted someone to coddle them. As far as the Better Business Bureau, we have only had two complaints both of which were resolved. We are sorry this happened and hope that she can find someone who can help her.

I observed a few cracks in the concrete and had planned to call, but someone from the company came by to look at work and take pictures. I told her about the cracks, she took pictures and called Tony. He called within the hour, said they would be by to take a look and that he thought the initial coating dried to quick. They came by while I was at work. Put on a fresh coat and sealed it. The work is getting compliments from neighbors. Having read some prior reviews I just did not see the issues with the way the workmen did the job or how they interacted with me. I would hire Irish again and will as I have some tuckpointing work to get done. That is a spring job at this point.
Description of Work: Foundation had become porous from weather and needed sealing. Also had some work done that required brick work by skilled masons. Irish staff fixed the bricks and made it look presentable. They sealed the block foundation, put two coats of mortar on and sealed final coat.

It went very well and just as they explained during the estimating process. They were professional and easy to work with before, during and after the work was finished. They were on-time, had their tools they needed and went right to work. They made sure I reviewed their work and was satisfied. No surprises was the best part! Their bid matched their invoice and they even threw in a few extra small repairs they noticed on a set of old steps in my backyard "while they were here". I enjoyed having them in my home. They were polite and respectful and always had a smile for me.
Description of Work: These guys were terrific. They repaired my plaster throughout my old house on the plaster ceilings and walls with care and professionalism. It looks great. They also repaired and took care of tuck-pointing my chimney and repaired my steps where needed. I have called them again recently to assist in another room of my house and they will be finishing that work soon..
I called Irish Construction for a second bid because the paint on my plaster walls had been bubbling and cracking. Tony and another guy came out to check out the house and said that the problem was moisture entering from shoddy tuckpointing that the house flipper did previously at closing. He said that the house needed to be spot-tuckpointed and sealed. They could take care of the plastering as well, so I went with their bid over another company's because he could take care of everything and complete it the next day at about the same price (cash only though). The next morning, he promptly came with a large crew and completed the work. He also checked out the chimney and said there were cracks, and completed that job the same day for another $500. The work looked fine, other than a milky substance on the back walls, which Tony attributed to the sealant and "should wash off with rain in a couple of weeks" when I called to check about it a few days later. I waited on the review because I wanted to see if the moisture problem was indeed solved in the long run and whether the sealant would fade. I was concerned that there would be some residual moisture in the walls that would cause further cracking since the outside and inside repairs were completed the same day. I was told that this would not be a problem but that they guaranteed their work and would take care of problems. I noticed within a couple of weeks that there was some additional bubbling and cracking at the edge of repairs and some in the areas that was repaired, but the paint was not removed completely. I called about it and was told to just scrape and sand the areas before repainting. It seemed flippant that they did not come out to check, but I thought I would trust their judgment. In a couple more weeks, I noticed that there were small areas that were cracking in a different part of the house, but not completing peeling like the fixed areas. This was odd to me since the house was "sealed" and the point was to prevent future problems. I called again and left a vm before repainting one area, but got no response. We held off on the other rooms since we were picking out colors for the nursery anyway and they were the ones with additional damage. We called again last month and got no response and gave up on the idea. I scraped the bubbled part and realized that the scraped off parts would be too deep to look even despite sanding. There were also some small cracks in the plaster underneath. I called again and got through to Tony, who said he had just come back from vacation. I was able to schedule for them to come out and check it out. He came with another guy and said he remembered the job and asked what he could do for us this time. I told him this was not a new job, but that I had concerns about the previous one like I mentioned on the phone. As he's walking into the house, he immediately talks about how their work is 100% guaranteed before getting to the rooms I was talking about, as in there would be no additional problems. When they saw the rooms, they said that the hairline cracks were not an issue and that I could just patch it with some plaster before painting. They said the problem was there after the job and I tried to explain that it was just the edges around the original job which wasn't even painted over yet, so it was clear that it was just some residual problems in the area. I didn't even get to the part about how we contacted them several times because Tony was adamant that their work was fine. To me, if you diagnosed and fixed the problem by "sealing the house" there should be no further cracks regardless of whether it was close to the original areas. I didn't bother showing them the new area because they didn't even offer to patch up something that apparently I could do myself. It was raining hard the past week, and we noticed some water getting in one corner of the basement. I asked them if that was a potential moisture problem and if they could address it. They took a look and said it was a drainage issue. We went around the back to check the drains. Tony went back to the front while the other guy was with me, giving ideas about what to do. He asked what the "white stuff" on the back bricks were and I said it was the sealant that was supposed to be gone months ago. When we back to the front, Tony said he had to get to another job and did not even give a quote about how to fix the drainage issue yet. He asked if I had rated them on Angie's list yet like he asked after the initial job. I replied "no, I was waiting to see if the problems were actually resolved." He said was "bullsh!tt!ng him" and talked about how he was a small business owner that needed these ratings to survive. I was taken aback because some of the work had been good, but some little details were just not completed to me, and really, it is my choice whether to rate someone or not. I was so shocked, I just asked him how much the other job would be just to see the extent of the problem. He quoted $4000 but said it could be a better deal with cash, which was what he claimed would be the only form of payment the first time, so i was confused about that. He also did not describe what the work would be and just seemed ready to go. So I let them go and came to provide the review he wanted. Note: it was hard to assign an overall grade. The tuckpointing was good. Seemed like the sealant is working? Not sure why it's still milky in the one area. The initial response was great, but the follow-up on what are seemingly minor details was painful. We just want to make sure the paint won't crack again after repainting! Professionalism was fine until we got to the follow-up appointment and the whole attitude/language about owing them something, when they would not even come back to resolve supposedly minor details.

We are sorry to hear that this client is not happy. We tried our best to please, the initial job was to repair the interior plasterwork which was done to a high standard which the client was happy with at the time.Eight months later he needed more work done,we called to his home to give a bid.He asked us to give him a opinion on some work he was preparing to paint which was on the same wall as the initial work. It looked to us like he had scraped off some old paint about 4 inches by 4 inches in two areas and exposed some old plasterwork which had some hairline cracks. We advised him that it was not a big issue and that he should just apply some spaccle and sand it down to prepare for paint which anyone that has painted before would know but we were happy to help and thought no more of the issue. We then proceeded to look at the work he was looking to have done which was a drainage issue and involved some exploration and installing a drain which we quoted for $4000. He then asked if some cash would reduce the cost to which we gave no reply as it seemed he was only pricing this work and was only thinking aloud. We spent a half hour talking at his home and i did not ask for reviews on angies list as i like to let my work speak for itself as anyone can see from previous reviews

Irish Construction easy to schedule a bid with--they were punctual and professional and sent the bid quickly. They followed up independently and were easily to communicate with. Once work was scheduled, they arrived on time and were friendly and professional. Tony Monaghan (the owner) and Elliot performed all the work quickly and efficiently on two of the hottest and most humid days of the year. We're pleased with the look of everything and glad we took a chance on restoring and maintaining the stairs that were already there vs. ripping out and replacing it all. Hopefully it reduced waste--in time, money, and labor. It looks fabulous--like new. We plan on taking good care of the concrete work, and hopefully it will last for several years. We are very pleased with the services we received and would recommend Irish Construction to others.

Materials used did not blend with existing mortar. Relatively careful in work quality while I was standing and watching. Sloppier work when unsupervised. Work time was approx 1 1/2 hours. I had expected them to examine the house with a modicum of care. Instead I had to show them what I had found, then remind them to complete the work in identified areas. I am grateful to finally have the opportunity to encourage better work products for customers.

Irish Construction prides itself on our attention to detail and customer satisfaction. This client made no complaints during or after the work was completed giving us no notice that she was unsatisfied. We always match any concrete, mortar, stucco, and plaster to the existing and our reviews and interviews with customers speak for themselves.
Tony was able to come to my house on a Saturday morning and give me an estimate. He was also willing to start work right away. His crew was on time, friendly, and cleaned up after themselves. After the week was done, the weather was so cold that the plaster cracked. Tony came out again without any questions asked and too care of it. The plaster work looks great and the waterproofing in the basement is helping immensely. We will work with this company again.

In the process of getting estimates over the course of a week, my last appointment was a Friday with Irish Construction. After looking at the job, I was quoted on the spot. "I'll be here tomorrow at 8am. No wait, you have a baby, I'll be here at 9." I was so befuddled by this immediate offer of service, I said yes without even getting the other quotes. They showed up early the next day and had the job done within two hours. It looks great and they did a good job of cleaning up. It wasn't until a week later that I got a quote from another company and it came in higher than what I paid Irish Construction. The other company also told me to allow 2-3 weeks for scheduling. If you are looking for a fru-fru hand-holding contractor, these are not your guys. But if you are looking for a job to get done well, affordably and quickly and are okay with a little bluntness, I would highly recommend Irish Construction for any plastering job.

Tony, owner, came with a crew of 6/7 persons and did extensive patching of the stucco of the home taking care to maintain a clean work site and closely match the existing finish. As an added service, the crew tuck pointed chimney bricks, repaired the stucco on the backside of the chimney, and then finished plastering the interior wall behind the chimney that had been damaged. The work was performed in a professional manner by artisans -- truly a joy to have each and every one of this crew on site. Nice to see a group of folk work so well together in such a pleasant manner. I definitely would have them back again.

This is the second time I've had Irish do work at our house. The first was a large Stucco repair job that went great. So when I had more minor stucco work as well as a few other odds and ends I didn't hesitate to call them back. We made an appointment for a few days after I called and Tony the owner came out and gave me a price on the spot. The price seemed reasonable for the work and since I knew their quality I just had Irish do the work. Tony only expected the work to take a few hours so he fit me in the next day. His team arrived on time and got right to work. A few hours later all the work was done, cleaned up and everything looked great. I enjoy working with Irish and Tony in particular. He tells you exactly what it's going to take and he makes sure you are happy with the project is finished. We have a few more projects on our brick patio that I've told Tony I've have him back to look at.

The crew showed up on time and work was done in a timely matter. Verbal bid included flashing chimney but they only put more tar on it. He took off $200 after several calls in which he was more than IRATE but cost me $300 to have it done by roofer. Be sure to get bid in writing. Have referred business to him I just hope no confrontation takes place.
