Used Angie's List coupon for discounted service for x hours. Plumber came and did a good job but informed us that Rivers was now charging over $200 per hour for general plumbing services so we never used them for additional plumbing needs. Since we used the discounted Angie's List price we never independently confirmed what Rivers Plumbing's current hourly pricing is.

I called him out to replace the tank bolts on my toilet. This guy charged for an hour of work. He spent twenty minutes in his truck gathering his tools, twenty minutes on the job, and twenty minutes in the truck writing up the job. I would never use this company again because they padded the time, and charged too much.

It went fine. They showed up and were reasonable in pricing. They were not pushy. They did a good job.

The overall service was outstanding. I have never had such a thorough examination of the units. It was a rainy day and he didn’t track any mud in the entire time. He kept me informed of what was going on and I felt really secure and comfortable with him in my home. He showed me again how to install my filters and was very patient with me. He also wrote out anything that he found that needed to be fixed so that I could notify my warranty company when I was ready to. He was very specific when helping me and very professional and I feel that he handled this quite well.

They did the work that they were supposed to do, although something about the valve on my water heater prevented them from flushing it. I did feel a bit pressured to purchase other services that I wasn’t sure that I needed. I haven’t had a problem since then.

He was very professional and thorough and there was a significant problem with the way the original toilet had been installed (not just an amateur problem but a hazardous one). The first toilet he bought turned out to be broken and he had to return it and get another. His installation went smoothly, he thoroughly cleaned the work area and then conducted an inspection of all other plumbing areas, pointing out aspects to keep an eye on and making suggestions about the fans and recommendations about other future issues.

He drove quite a distance to get here. I felt they were more professional then other companies. He made sure to explain everything he was doing and why. After talking to him I knew where my problems might come in the future and that the pipes were clean and I could see it. I felt confident in his ability and teaching.

There was nothing I didn't like. They put things on their shoes before they come in the house, stick to their work, get their work done and get on their way. The price was also reasonable. I've had two different gentlemen and they were both excellent.

They performed the services as promised, but sold us a service we didn't need at a high cost.

Overall a very good experience. The price seemed a little high, but I have not had much plumbing work done in the last 10 years so it may have just been sticker shock.

I had some water in my basement for the 3rd time so i decided to go with this company off Angies list. When he showed up and suggested doing a camera down the drain i was suspicious of being asked to do this without it being necessary. I was wrong. The serviceman found the problem. Someone put a 3 inch pipe down a hole meant for a larger pipe so it clogged easily. He tore the pipe out and my problem was fixed. He was very nice and worked hard.

Called and made an appointment. Day and time of the appointment came, no one showed up. Called, and they didn't show my appointment listed, ( I had originally spoken with a man, this was a woman on the phone). They were trying to reschedule me, asked how I had heard about them, told them Angie's List, they said they'd have someone right out ;-} I wanted washers replaced on bathroom sink, and if necessary, seats ground. I also wanted washers replaced on shower faucets, and if necessary, seats ground. Technician quoted me $360 for a rebuild. I didn't even ask if that was for one or for both.

The plumber came a couple days prior to assess issue and gave a temporary solution. Returned on the 25th to install a more permanet solution. Great service except one hour late without calling.

I have a broken outdoor fawcett I will have them repair in the spring as part of the deal I purchased. The serviceman did note that my water pressure coming into the home is too high, above code, and has probably damaged the bladder in my pressure tank. He provided an estimate for the cost to fix and repair that problem. I will consider having this done before my year's service deal is up.

I thought they were fairly straightforward and honest.

Showed up on time and performed work. The add on Angies list we felt was misleading. There was a $50 off coupon. However there is a $65.00 charge just to come to the door. WE felt that they charged too much for the work that was performed.

Asked for price to switch kitchen faucet with similar one, not an upgrade. I was given a figure of $450, which included a new faucet. When I asked how much it would be if I provided my own faucet, the price came down to $175. From what I can find out, the $175 price is fairly competitive; however, a Moen faucet comparable to the one I had was $99 at both Lowe's and Home Depot. The Rivers Plumbing price of $450 for the faucet and switch, means they were charging $275 for a comparable Moen faucet. Charging $275 for a $100 faucet is a total rip! I would not use them again.

Rivers Plumbing estimated replacing the bathroom waste stack and adding a basement utility tub. The estimation process was thorough and clearly explained. Rivers explained venting the utility tub through the roof would need a stack run though a main support beam and up through a first floor closet to the roof for thousands of dollars. So the basement utility tub was not done. The bathroom stack was replaced from just above basement floor up to a couple feet above the first floor's floor. The bathroom stack replacement was reasonably priced, less than another plumbing company rated A for price, though I use ratings as guides, not absolute levels. The bathroom stack looked professionally done and passed inspection. The work area was well cleaned up afterwards. I highly recommend Rivers Plumbing and would use them again. I also got free advice on fastening the dish washer discharge to the cabinet to prevent back-flow from the sink.

Being an older woman who lives alone, I cautiously allow strangers to enter my home. Over the 22 years I had developed a trusting bond with certain technicians and would request and receive them for regular preventive service checks. During late 2010 and 2011 I was told by staff that my favorite technicians no longer worked there, not just retired. The more often this happened the more uncomfortable I felt about using the company. Why the sudden technician turnover? I received vague answers. After 15 months of honoring the maintenance contract I decided I was no longer willing to spend my money with Hoffmann Brothers. I no longer felt comfortable with their technicians in my home. Nothing criminal; just the impersonal service I was now receiving. I had been blessed with great service by knowledgeable, professional, efficient technicians who also took the time to smile and talk a bit. The new technicians barely said hello. The performed the job well, no fault there. But they could very well have been robots. I rated their customer service a zero. I therefore decided to cancel my maintenance contract. The office manager became irate. To make a long story short, it took me 3 months and the threat of legal action to cancel the monthly maintenance contract. Beware: Before you sign a contract with Hoffmann Brothers be sure you fully comprehend and agree with the way THEY comprehend the wording. I used to recommend them to one and all with no hesitation; now I warn all to approach with caution.

We have used them on several occasions for plumbing needs. We live in Northern Virginia and own the house in Wentzville where our son lives. We need to have someone we can depend on to call for plumbing issues and emergencies. We have now used Rivers Plumbing on four occasions, most recently responding to an emergency call for a leaking hot water heater. They came out promptly and wound up, after calling to talk to me, replacing the hot water heater. The cost seemed rather high to me, but that is perhaps because my own experience in having my home water heater replaced was done by a family friend at a very nominal labor cost. We will continue to call this company for our plumbing needs in Wentzville. They have done good work for us.
