GOLDEN AGE RESTORATION

General Remodeling, Roofing, Interior Painting,

About us

Golden Age Restoration, Inc. was founded in 2004 by lifelong city residents John and Jane Quartuccio. The aim of the business is to assist St. Louis building owners with preserving the integrity of historic homes and buildings. The expertise and craftsmanship of our crew has enhanced hundreds of homes and buildings in the city. For property owners looking to make smart restorations, we offer general contracting, planning and project management. We may also use our master plumbers, electricians, and HVAC contacts to help complete your project whether it is a complete gut rehab, 203k project, or small residential update. We are in close contact with reputable architects and city inspectors as well to move your project hypothesis toward a reality. If a project seems as though it will not add longevity or value to your property, we are honest about your best options. We offer free bids and advise and would welcome the opportunity to meet with you! Please ask about references or samples of our work as well!

The roof is OK--now. Leaked right after installation, but GAR fixed it. Did not instill much confidence though. Tuck pointing is substandard in all respects. There are still places that need to be done. I had to have GAR come back at least twice. They always came but the job was never completed. Would not recommend this company for tuck pointing. Whoever they used as a subcontractor just did not do a good job. Previously tuck pointers have used red mortar to match. They used gray, my fault for not specifying I suppose. I would have paid extra to get it to match. Also contracted to have a vent cover put back on. It fell right off and they had to come back and attach it properly (at least I hope it is-- has not fallen again. Yet) Plaster job inside was OK. Except: there was one whole wall where the plaster was falling away (about the top foot) and they did not even notice and I had to call them back. Overall this company is pleasant to deal with in that they show up and do the work. Constantly having to have them come back due to substandard work and ultimately being left with un-done tuck pointing I cannot recommend them unless no one else will show up.
Description of Work: Had a new roof put on, plaster work, and tuck pointing done.

I am unhappy with the whole product. He replaced a 10 x 6 deck for me. The original deck was cedar and I had asked for the materials used be the same as the original deck which had lasted for 20 plus years. Verbally he agreed to do so. Later I noticed the contract stated the deck would be replaced with 5 quarter acq pressure treated lumber and the estimated price was $3365.00. Within two years almost all of the boards have split. After contacting him he told me the boards were treated pine and I verified with vendors that treated pine would split within two years. The contractor offered me a bid to replace the boards, but refuses to assume responsibility. The workmanship is of shotty quality with warped boards, cut straight rather than mitered and in some places trim is made of a plastic compound other than wood.
Description of Work: He replaced a deck in my townhouse.

The crew is friendly and easygoing, however the work is substandard and John is difficult to work with. He tends to get emotional and does not understand the concept of "the customer is always right." The estimate continued to increase as the project went on, and the work performed was not consistent with what was agreed to at the start of the project. fter the project was finished, there were several things that needed to be fixed. John disagreed that this was their issue and wanted to charge us to fix the problems. The tiles are coming up, the paint is peeling, the door doesn't close properly, and little details are wrong. We won't contact them because it isn't worth the hassle. I wish I could recommend them because I love the crew, but the work and dealing with John isn't worth it.
Description of Work: Tile was laid, windows installed, drywall, paint (interior and exterior), hung door, trim installed and stained.
