Everything went well. Would recommend this company. Though, we still need to employ a contractor to replace the trim on the window, and replace the ledge. Working on that!

It was my second time using them. My first experience involved extensive glass block design and work at my loft in St. Louis which was breathtaking. This time around, they replaced two large windows on each side of our fireplace with glass block. This experience was just as just as good as the first. They made the initial visit and helped decide what my options were and then returned 1 week later to install the glass block windows. The workers were professional, friendly, and clean and performed the job in a timely manner. Afterward, they cleaned up after themselves and left us to enjoy our beautiful, new glass block windows. I highly recommend this contractor.

About 16 months ago, we bought a home that had been empty for quite some time and needs a lot of work. We do what we can as money and time allows. When we moved in we had no choice but to paint and install new carpet. Then we tackled the windows with our tax refund because it will save us money because the old ones were HORRIBLE. We replaced the ones on the main floor first then wanted to do the basement with glass blocks. We were quite surprised that such a small window with this company cost almost the same as the larger ones on the main floor. Maybe that's our ignorance with windows vs glass blocks. Fortunately we found our windows at Menard's for approximately $60 ALREADY ASSEMBLED. Fortunately my spouse is quite the handyman. He watched a few You Tube videos and we did one ourselves and will do the others. It's actually quite easy. Since the estimate didn't disclose a price for each window and one was a different size than the others, we estimate we'll save about $225 a window. It took us about 3 hours for the first window, assume they others will go as well if not shorter since we built some confidence. It actually is more difficult to remove the old than to install the new on our house. If you need custom fit windows, then obviously our experience is comparing apples and oranges. Although I dislike agressive salespeople, we didn't feel like they wanted our business. They were a few times we felt "scolded" like children because the basement windows had a metal frame that was rusting. We were told at least twice to take steel wool to them and repaint it ASAP to prevent further rusting. This was after we explained we just recently bought it and had several projects we were addressing. They are punctual and responsive. We also talked to someone from Glass Blocks at the home show and he was quite friendly. Final word - get a estimate from them and another provider so you can compare if you can't do it yourself.

The company owner, Ron Boyer, came out on Wednesday 12/26/2012 and gave me an estimate for the two windows. He applied the 25% Angies List discount and we signed the deal. His installer came out two days later and completed the job. They look great and I am completely satisfied. I cannot believe what a difference taking out those drafty metal windows has made in the comfort level of my "man cave.". The only downside is I have been wasting money for twenty years on heating bills. I really wish I had done this sooner.

The owner came out and evaluated the project. Before he left we had a quote and complete description of what would be done. He brought samples of all of the available glass blocks and together we decided to use two different blocks with the frosted block forming a frame for each panel and the the traditional block in the center. We had another bid but felt that this company was a little more creative. After accepting the bid, a date was set within two weeks. The day before, they called and gave us an appointment time. They arrived a few minutes before scheduled. The job was completed in about five hours. Everything was completly cleaned up after they finished. All three workers were very professional, punctual, and friendly. I would recommend this company to anyone.

Zero complaints. The workers showed up on time, got to work quickly and finished when they said they would.
Description of Work: While their prices are extremely competitive, they are not the cheapest. However, despite being slightly higher than the other 2 estimates they did, by far, a superior job. Lengthy warranty, they use their own workers (not sub-contractors) who drive company trucks and I knew the names of the guys coming out before they showed up. When it comes to security in your home, coupled with energy efficiency, you owe it to yourself and your family not to go with the cheapest in the group. I would absolutely recommend Glass Block of St. Louis again, and again, and again!

Called and left a message for an estimate on replacement of a broken basement glass window with block glass. Never received a return call. Called again, during regular business hours and got the same voice mail system. I figured if they didn't get the first message I left, it was no use leaving another. Went with another glass block company.

Ron the owner came out and provided the estimate. He spent a lot of time going over options and what the best solutions were. I did not feel like he was rushing or putting any pressure on. He was very professional and provided an estimate on the spot. He was a little late to the appointment but he called and said he would be a little late. Their contract is very professional and addresses the issue of lein waivers etc. I then scheduled the appointment with Steve the Office manager. They were able to accomidate the time I asked for. They called with a reminder that they were coming out the day before. The crew came on time. They were very polite. They did the work in about two hours. They cleaned up their mess and discussed some things like how long I needed to wait to paint or open the vent etc. Overall it was an A+ experience. Highly recommended. Owner called with a follow-up a week later to make sure I was happy with the work.

The sales rep was punctual and explained everything clearly. They could have scheduled me for the very next week but I delayed the appointment to the following week. I was given an informative sheet of what to expect and what to do to prepare. I found it to be very helpful. The two-man crew was about 15 minutes late arriving in the early a.m. but went right to work. Once the chute was removed, they could see that the original measurement was not quite accurate because a metal flange was covering the true size of the opening to be filled. Rather than lay in an extra-wide strip of mortar, which would not have matched my other glass block windows, they suggested the window unit be rebuilt to the new specifications. They were able to call it in to the office, they left to go to their second job, early, and then came back the same day around noon with the new window unit and installed it rather quickly. It looks great. They cleaned up very well after themselves. They even noticed another of my glass block windows had a slight separation from the brick in the mortar and they filled it in with fresh mortar--much appreciated. I would definitely recommend this company to others.

They were able to send over someone to make an estimate within 48 hours of the request, and then they were able to schedule the visit very quickly. Two workers arrived 90 minutes earlier than promised, which turned out okay but could have been a problem on most days (a warning phone call would have been nice). The work took a total of 45 minutes. It looks perfect -- you cannot tell which block is the new one in the window.

Overall, I had a very pleasant experience with Glass Block of St. Louis. When I called to set up an appointment for an estimate, the company was very responsive and came out to my house just a couple of days later. The representative was also very friendly and informative and answered all of my questions about the advantages of these types of windows, plus he gave me advice on whether or not I should have the windows installed with vents. Glass Block was ready to install the windows about a week later. The installers were great. They were friendly and left absolutely no messes behind. The only issue that arose was that when the installers arrived, they found that four of the five windows didn't fit - they were too big for the window space. However, they installed the one window that they could and I received a telephone call the next day to reschedule the installation of the other four. The remaining windows were installed about a week later, so I didn't have to wait long at all. Everything worked out very well and I am very happy with the look of the windows - very clean and neat. The work was professionally done and it was completed to my satisfaction.
