Tech was excellent. He went over everything and made sure all was working according to my satisfaction. Would recommend him any time.
Description of Work: Checked over all the TVs and Stereo Sound Systems to make sure the hookup was correct. Redid some of the hookups and adjusted the settings. Made sure everything was working proper before leaving.

I left. The problem is not with me. All websites suggest that I update the browers. Tried--nothing happened. Still same messages.
Description of Work: Plugged into the computer.......Either I'm not as articulate as I used to be before retirement; or as a senior I'm very much out of touch with this faster-than-life technology. The technician kept making the point that the computer must be connected before I could perform any activities. Surely, surely having used these probably before he was born, I can ascertain if the computer is turned on and connected. The issue is what does not happen after the connection is made to Internet Explorer. Keep getting error messages: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. Probably didn't emphasize that this is the problem--it won't update either the Internet Exlporer or Chrome browers. What's to do?

Description of Work: For $200.00 Geek Squad covered 3 computers/tablets. The renewal rate was $100.00, plus you get Webroot, a PC/tablet internet security and firewall. I had to bring in two of the three devices that I had registered and had great service. The products were done when they said they would be and were repaired. I would highly recommend Geek Squad.

They diagnosed it properly, ordered the part, and fixed it 5 days later. The only downside was the cost, which was rather high...a total of $485.00.
Description of Work: Geek Squad fixed my Samsung 51 inch Plasma TV which wouldn't turn on due to a defective power supply . They installed a new power supply.

Best Buy would not repair - or even look at - a printer we bought from Eager road store in St. Louis. (Brentwood.) We did not pay for a warranty when we bought the printer. Best Buy stated that they could look at the printer if we had purchased their insurance policy, but would not allow us to pay for services! Policy prevented them from helping us after the sale. Called the national HQ. They suggested we try another Best Buy! Geek Squad bent over backwards in repairs a few years ago. What happened?

I didn't hire them. After being on hold for 24 minutes, I reached a technician who advised that they could only work on home theater systems that had "Harmony" remotes. (I have a Denon remote). So, in order for these people to re-program my home theater components, they wanted me to purchase a "Harmony" remote system. They don't appear to be well versed in any type of tv repair/home theater system re-programming unless it's something they sell themselves. By limiting to 1 product, I don't think this business deserves to be in the category of television repair. I'm going to call one of the other recommended businesses in this category.

They're very good. They come out and explain everything. They're really terrific. The gentleman that came out was really nice. He gave me his personal card. They're clean and efficient. These people don't intimidate me. Their prices are very fair. The quality of service was excellent. Their professionalism was perfect.

While they did unfreeze the computer, it soon was malfunctioning again. The worst part was they lost many files, both on the laptop and external hard drive. They could not explain why the files were lost. Would not go back to them again.

I needed a new TV as the picture tube on my circa 1998 TV was going out. First, I reviewed relative websites, including Best Buys, for price and consumer reviews. Found one I liked at Best Buys, and arrived on a morning weekday (not as crowded as weekend shopping). I was immediately hooked up with a sales person, told them what type of TV needed and asked many questions. The sales person was extremely polite, listened and answered all my questions and made really good suggestions (i.e. HD, TV size). I purchased the TV, and they loaded the TV into my car, and advised if I could find a lower priced competitor within 30 days, Best Buys would meet that price. And they would also recycle my old TV for free. Overall, an excellent shopping experience. UPDATE 7/27/2011 Was inaccurately advised that recycling of old TV was free. I brought in my old TV to Best Buys and found out recycling would cost me Ten Dollars. This is per U. S. Government, and not Best Buy policy. However, received Ten Dollar Best Buy gift card based on my previous purchase (Reward Zone) of new TV. It was quick and easy. Pulled in front of Best Buys, ran in and secured help with unloading old TV set. Please note that I came on a weekday morning within 20 minutes of the store opening to avoid crowds. Sorry to Angies List for the incorrect information regarding free TV recycling.

Description of Work: We had gone to Best Buy to purchase a home stereo system on Memorial Day, we paid 100 dollars to have them come out, that would be applied to the system. We were told we would be contacted that day or the next day. We called the next day and were told we would hear back, Today is Friday and still no hear back. Poor servie, we cant even spend money wanting to. A pathetic company. Have you ever tried to call a Department at the Brentwood store, cant ever talk to live person. They have customer service issues. Dont waste you time using this store or Best Buy. NOw I have to work on getting my 99 dollars back.

Found the replacement computer I wanted, took it to them, waited maybe 20 minutes, picked it up and paid for everything.
Description of Work: Set up new computer, put in what I wanted, removed superfluous programs. We've used them for computer repair before, and found them reliable and good about explaining things.

When I called and explained my computer problem, I was told the visit would take 3 to 4 hours and cost around $399. The technician was on time and went right to work. He was able to fix the problem by optimizing my computer. He removed startup items, updated wireless card driver and bois firmware. It took less than an hour and cost $139.99. He was very helpful in explaining what he was doing. My PC has been problem-free ever since his visit.

Very well. There were two different people who came out but they were both patient with my questions, clearly showed me how to use the new TV & DVD, programmed everything so it was ready to go. When the TV was calibrated I really had no idea what this was, but the technician clearly showed me what changes had been made to my TV. Also, the technicians were pleasant and I did not mind having them in the house. I have to admit that when Best Buy bought the Geek Squad I was a bit skeptical. I thought they might just hire people at a low wage and not train them well. The people I had do work seemed to be knowledgeable. I don't always seem to find this!!
Description of Work: We used the Geek Squad to set up an install a new TV system. They then came back a month later to run a calibration on the TV, which greatly improved the picture.

The first time the repair tech was to come out, he arrived 1.5 hours after his 2 hour window and then said he needed to order parts which would make the total for service and repair $350. They were to call when the parts came in, 5-7 days. After 7 days, my husband spent an hour on the phone with the national number trying to figure out the status because they won't connect you to anyone local. Finally, they said the parts were in and the tech was supposed to come the next day. After he was supposed to be there, he called to say he wasn't coming because their computers were down. Came 2 days later and spent 1.5 hours to say it still needs additional parts and they'll be out the next day. The next morning a different tech came who had no idea the other guy had been there the day before and didn't have the parts. Then the original tech scheduled to come at 1:30 so I could run home from work. He arrived at 3:00 for a 15 min. job that turned into 50 and then he needed to order another $500 part. At that point, we called and told him not to order anything, not to charge us anything and not to return because he had no confidence in what he was doing. They were disorganized and not knowledgeable, did not come when scheduled, and on top of it, their customer service was horrible and you can't reach anyone local to talk to about what's going on.
Description of Work: We called them to repair our TV. After numerous visits, the TV is still not repaired.

I think they did a pretty good job removing the viruses and getting it back to me fairly soon. They did however end up removing Windows Explorer completely from the system. I have since talked to other PC people and they said that they shouldn t have done that and they considered their work to be amateur.
Description of Work: I took my computer in to have viruses removed and a virus program and spyware installed. I got it back in 24 to 48 hours.

They completed the job with expertise. They absolutely knew what they were doing. They finished very quickly. They noticed that one of the computers was running slow and with no pressure offered to install more ram if I wanted them to. I will call on their services again!

By and large they were very professional, very knowledgeable. They had a staff of about five in the store. They know what they are doing they tell you what they are doing. I found out over time you can spend hours on this stuff if you don't have someone that knows what is going on.
Description of Work: First they did a diagnostic, then I told them the symptoms. They said they would do the diagnostic and a data retrieval (in case the hard drive is kaput and you want to save your data base they can move your data off your hard drive and install it into the new hard drive)and call me before any work would be done. Which they did. They told me what I had to do (I needed a new hard drive). They installed the hard drive and told me the data retrieval from my hard drive would be what they called a level two. They had to send the hard drive to a special facility to retrieve my data. They installed all the software and the hard drive. I asked them about an external backup for my data. They offered me an on-line service for data backup so it is virtually impossible to lose my data for fifty dollars a year.
