GCO does not give information about the carpet they offer, other than a mysterious "weight" figure that does not seem to compare with the information provided by other stores. However, we liked the carpet enough to get a free quote. Like other carpet sales places, GCO requires an installer to come measure before giving a detailed quote. They asked for a "fully refundable" down payment of 500 dollars (the total for the job was likely to be pretty high). The day after I was there, I called and canceled the installer, because we decided to go another way. I called twice (our rep was busy the first time) and was assured my down payment would be refunded. I checked my credit card statement two days later and it was not there. Then I forgot about it and thank goodness I remembered, because when I checked almost a month later they still had not refunded my money. I had to call back and speak to another representative to get the money refunded. In addition, the salesman was patronizing, dismissive and unnecessarily brought up the race and gender of prior customers.
