They have a showroom at their location she you can actually see the various options and the sales person was very knowledgable, practical, and friendly. We brought the needed measurements and picture of the fireplace, reviewed and selected from many options and set the installment date. The installer was on time, assessed and measured the job, and gladly explained everything he was going to do before he did it. He was through, cleaned up as he went and took the time to explain everything we needed to work the gas system. We would recommend this company to others and would use them again.

 + -1 moreI contacted Gas Appliance Services and told them my problem and ask when they would be available to come out and fix it. They told me that most likely it was just a issue with my remote and or on of switch being corroded and that the cost of the visit would out weigh the cost of the part. He suggested that I just unplug the remote box and take out the switch and bring it into their store so they could match it. That way I would not be wasting money on a field visit.
Description of Work: I had a problem with my gas fireplace turning on all by itself and us not being able to turn it off.

 + -1 moreI think this kind of reaction to a customers problem is very rare today. Everyone want to make a buck and this would have been a perfect example of easy money. By offering to help for free when we are not even a regular customer, Dan basically cheated himself out of 97 Dollars, but what he will get from in recommendations for good services rendered, I hope will repay him many times that amount. Description of Work: I called because we had a gas log that wouldn't stay lit. While I was scheduling a service call, Dan asked what make it was and what the problem was. On telling him, he asked me if I would I like to " try fixing it on the phone. Save yourself 97 dollars for a service call! !!" He talk me through it and we got it fixed and it is now working fine at no cost.

 + 1 moreConnie worked with us step by step from beginning to end to find just the right fireplace for our needs. She was extremely professional and knowledgeable about all products they carry. We were very pleased with the selection and found just the right one. Through absolutely no fault of Gas Appliances, the transformation from wood-burning to gas turned into an ordeal. When the company who was building our four-season sunroom removed the existing chimney, it created a host of problems. Connie went above and beyond as she searched high and low for a different direct-vent gas fireplace that could be installed in the space left without a chimney. She finally found ONE fireplace that would work. This type of gas fireplace is so new that Gas Appliances had never sold or installed one before. Connie got representatives from the manufacturer to come oversee the installation so there would be no problems. It went in quickly and smoothly. The technicians were professional, friendly and speedy. The quality of the fireplace is excellent. The quality of care and service we received from this company was even better! We cannot say enough good things about Connie and Gas Appliances! We will definitely use this company again for any and all gas appliances and recommend this company for any and everyone who wants quality, first-rate service for quality, first-rate products.

(Which was good since we had spent a considerable amount of time trying to figure it out ourselves!) Once the problem was discovered, it took him about 3 minutes to fix it!! Great job, Bill!

 + -1 moreCalled several places as I couldn't keep the pilot light lit in my fireplace. Gas Appliance Service had the soonest available appointment. The young man arrived on time and promptly addressed the problem. Laid out a floor covering, removed the logs and other stuff, went out to his truck and found the replacement part, installed the part, put all the fireplace stuff back in, and gave it a test drive. Worked wonderfully on the first try. Gentleman was neatly attired, very polite, explained everything he was doing, and very professional.
Description of Work: Replaced the thermocouple on the gas fireplace.

 + -1 moreThey were very busy, (in the Winter, who would have thought?), and the quickest they could come out was about 1 1/2 weeks, and then just for an inspection to see what needed to be done. Danny arrived on time, actually a few minutes before the two-hour window I'd been given. In and out in about 15 minutes, for a fee of $40 that would be applied against the cost of the repair itself, which was scheduled for a week later. This time, Danny arrived a few minutes after the two-hour window (no problem), and finished the work in about 45 minutes. Efficient, professional and friendly. $110 this time, plus the previous $40 for a total bill of $150, which seemed reasonable.
Description of Work: We had previously smelled gas at the floor valve for our gas log, and the gas company cut and capped the feeder line to the valve. Gas Appliances installed a shut-off valve at the point where the feeder line had been cut, and then bypassed the leaky floor valve rather than replacing it.

 + -1 moreWe went in on a Saturday to look at post-mount, natural gas grills. The sales lady (forgot her name) was SO helpful. She told us our options, answered our questions honestly, and showed us how to replace parts on the grill we chose. We didn't feel like she was trying to sell us anything, she just helped us get our project done. They were able to schedule the installation the following week, which we were very excited about.The installation guy made it on time and was done in 2 hours. He was very respectful and let my kids watch him install our the grill. He put everything back where it was before installation. He patiently explained the grill to me after it was all completed.
Description of Work: We purchased an MHP post-mount grill from them, and they installed it.

Hence we did not need a Technician to come out, just call Vermont Casting. Very honest, very impressed and will be sure to call this company back if we ever do actually need BBQ servicing. Nice to know there are still good honest vendors our there. Very pleased with this firm and highly recommend them to anyone needing BBQ/Gas Grill repairs based on their honesty. /pz

 + 0 moreMy condo is unusual in that the Gas for the fireplaces is on a type of "co-op" system. The Gas bill goes to the condo management, and only those of us actually using the fireplaces split the bill. I do not get billed directly by the Gas company, and thus needed a private contractor to inspect the existing unit. Danny was very thorough and so easy to work with. I respect safety concerns related to use of a gas appliance, and Danny took extra time to explain safe use of the fireplace and made sure I was comfortable with it before he left. (Again, I hope I have his name correct, as he did an outstanding job of installation AND explaination!!!) Connie, the employee who handled the scheduling, was reliable and very helpful. I appreciated her calling me to let me know the logs arrived and we could have the installation done sooner. She was a pleasure to talk to and work with. When I decided to purchasethe set from the sister company of Gas Applicance Service, it seemed like the logical choice because Gas Appliance had already been out to my condo and had a record of what was needed to "fix" my existing fireplace. The whole process could NOT have gone smoother. I already had confidence in this installation company, and they of course worked closely with the company from which I purchased the new unit.
Description of Work: I moved to a condo in December. It had a gas fireplace which did NOT work. Gas Appliance Service was recommended. The service man met my real estate agent at the condo, inspected the fireplace, and gave an estimate on repair which included new logs, sand, embers etc. I decided I wanted a whole new system. As a result, I shopped around and quickly ruled out using a hardware store and visited Fireplace specialty shops instead. I found Fireplace and Grill Center which also happened to be a sister company to Gas Applicance Service. I decided on purchasing an unvented (vent free) unit, logs, burner etc. Connie at the Gas Applicance Company scheduled the installation date and time with me so I could arrange a morning off from work. Connie told me the log set I had chosen would be ordered and we agreed on a date and time for installation. A few days later she called me back to tell me the log set had arrived sooner than expected, so we were able to reschedule the installation for an earlier date. The installer, I "think'" his name was Dan, called early the morning of the scheduled appointment and confirmed his expected arrival arrival time. I am blocking on his name, and I really hope I have it correct, as he was wonderful to work with. He arrived on time; was professional; organized; and VERY patient with me and my constant questions. Since this was my first gas fireplace, he explained everything and let me practice turning it on and off; discussed how the system worked; and NEVER got impatient with me. He cleaned out the remnants of the old fireplace set, effectively and efficiently installed all of the new parts for my "new fireplace", and made sure everything worked correctly and safely. I even put him on the phone with the manager of my condo to discuss the location of the main gas line cutoff for my fireplace. When everything was done, he removed all the boxes and cleaned up the area. GREAT EXPERIENCE.

 + -1 moreVisited their shop to look at their gas logs. Connie was helpful and explained the pros and cons of vented and vent-free logs. The shop has operating gas logs at waist level, so it is easy to handle the valves, etc.. We compared manual and 'Millivolt' valves. Went with vent-free 18" burner with a Millivolt valve (Empire Comfort systems VFSR-18N) and 6 piece refractory log set (ECS ALS-18CR1). Being November, we were prepared for a long wait for installation, but it was scheduled out less than 2 weeks. The logs went into an existing wood burning Heatilator(fabricated) fireplace box (has punch-outs)). The installer called the morning of the installation and a gave a 2 hr window. The installer was prompt, courteous, and performed the job quickly (about 1.5 hrs including 20 feet of gas line connecting to an existing line). The work included turning off the gas to the house, turning it on and relighting a water heater pilot light. We have used the gas logs for a day and are quite satisfied. Two things to note; While variable, the flame heights vary maybe 25% from low to high. You'll need more than 3 hours to have the firewall vent open to burn off the smell. Although technically, we don't need a fireplace hood (when have a mantle), I will install one ( $60 to buy) because the bricks above the firewall get quite hot (> 150 degrees).

Description of Work: We smelled gas around our in-ground grill. He came and checked the grill and the lines. He guessed that we had a seal leak at the grill, but that the price of the repair would be more than the grill was worth. So, after consulting with us, he turned off the gas again and left it for us to decide whether we wanted to just leave it off and get a new portable grill or to buy a new post grill and repair the seals.

I WILL DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN AND RECOMMEND THEM TO ALL MY CUSTOMERS.
Description of Work: SAFETY VALVE WAS INSTALLED. LACLEDE GAS COULD NOT INSTALL THE VALVE, BUT GAS APPLIANCE SERVICE WAS ABLE TO INSTALL IT WITHOUT PROBLEMS. I AM A REALTOR, AND CALLING FOR MY SELLER WHO HAD ALREADY MOVED. WE WERE FACING A CLOSING DEADLINE WITHIN A WEEK. THEY CHANGED THEIR SCHEDULE AROUND TO TAKE CARE OF THE WORK FOR US.  + -1 moreDEAN, WHO TOOK MY CALL, IMMEDIATELY UNDERSTOOD THE URGENCY OF THE SITUATION. WE WERE SET TO CLOSE ON OUR OLD HOUSE IN LESS THAN TWO WEEKS, AND IT FAILED THE GAS INSPECTION. WITHOUT KNOWING THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK, WE COULD BE FACED WITH TEARING OUT AND REPLACING DRYWALL. GARY, THE TECHNICIAN, ARRIVED AN HOUR LATER AND DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM. LUCKILY, IT WAS SIMPLY A LOOSE NUT. BOTH OF THESE GENTLEMEN WERE COURTEOUS, EXCEPTIONALLY RESPONSIVE, AND THEY DIDN'T MAKE ME FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT FOR BEING COMPLETELY IGNORANT ABOUT AN APPLIANCE I RARELY USED.
