Matt Scott, a VP under Chris Fox at F&B, was quick to respond to our inquiry about a loan. However, from the moment we signed the contract with them, there were problems with responsiveness. There was poor communication, delays, repeated requests for the same documents, etc. This is our 4th home purchase, 2nd in < a year, and it was an emotional roller coaster ride I would not willingly repeat. We had multiple closing dates mostly because they could not get documentation together. We were told we could close within our time frame, but things kept getting delayed and the blame game began. We had to have multiple extensions to our contract with the seller, extension of our rate lock, etc. Matt said, "Does it really matter if you close tomorrow or ten days from now?" Well, YES, it does. If you go out of contract because the seller won't waste any more time with you and moves on to the next buyer, if you have to scramble to find somewhere for you and your kids to live for those extra ten+ days, if you loose the price you negotiated with seller because they are tired of the endless delays, if you loose the rate you locked in because rates are climbing, it does indeed matter WHEN you close, not just that you do close mainly because another delay could mean you never close. There were multiple people at F&B involved in the process and we would get conflicting information from the various parties. It was obvious that these people were not communicating well during the process. Getting someone to actually speak to you on the phone was beyond difficult. I adamantly complained about that and it got better, but toward the end of the process, it became increasingly frustrating. I attempted to contact Mr. Fox during the process, but he was on vacation. However, him not responding to an email of this nature upon his return, from someone HIS company is doing business with, speaks volumes to me. Our real estate agent, who has at least 10+ years of experience, agreed this was the absolute worst closing she has had in her entire career and F&B Financial joined the one other company on her "do not work with, EVER" list. I don't blame her as the multiple closing dates put dings in her reputation with the title company and people she has to work with on a daily basis. The bottom line to us was the loan company could not fulfill their end of the contract within the promised time. We strongly considered buying out of the deal, but our realtor recommended against it and we did finally close. Trust me, you do NOT want to deal with these headaches during an already stressful time in your life. Find another reputable financial company in your area. I have had good experiences with local credit unions.
