Don came out on time and finished the work as offered. We talked about some other project he could work on for us, and then I wrote him a check for the payment. I mistakenly wrote him a check for $1,300 when I owed him $130. I found out the next day when I checked my bank account, and saw the missing funds. I called Don and explained the situation, and he said that the check was in the amount of $130, and that I needed to call my bank. I called my bank, and they said that they needed to see his deposit slip from the check depositing into his account. I called Don back and explained the situation again. He sent me a copy of the deposit slip and I sent it to the bank. The bank then decided that in order to continue the investigation they needed Don's bank statement showing the funds. I communicated this to Don and he told me that he could not do that. I offered to pay him for his time, and meet him to pick it up. Don told me that I was on my own with the bank, and they needed to investigate it, and he didn't have the time to give me the statement. I let the bank know about this, and they told me that if he wouldn't give the statement over there is nothing they could do. I am on a fixed income, and could not support that large withdrawal out of my account, and there were many fees from that as well. I have given Don every opportunity to do the right thing, and still nothing has come from it. I sent him a certified letter, and he refuses to pick it up from the post office. I have started a complaint to the Better Business Bureau in an attempt to force him to do the right thing, but nothing has come of it. Please do not use Don for anything, I have reserved that I will never get my money back, and I only hope others will learn from this and not have Don work for them!
