When I arrived home, I called another Dillard's store to again check on the availability. I was told that all items (except the mirror and the bench) were either in stock or would be available in a few days and that the sale prices would apply. I would only have to pay one delivery charge. I immediately called my salesperson at the Galleria store and told him that I wanted the furniture new instead of the display furniture. He said that the bench was not available. Well, I didn't buy the bench so it didn't matter. I asked him if I should order the new furniture from the other store and he said he would take care of it. I asked him to call me as soon as the new order was placed. He called back 45 minutes later and said that the only item now available was the bed. He assured me that Dillard's would repair the damaged floor model items that I purchased. I also talked to the store operations manager who said that Dillard's would repair the scratches. The furniture was delivered the next week. We were the last stop on the truck. My husband was outside when the truck pulled up and noticed that our furniture was not wrapped up. There were blankets on the floor of the truck but not around our furniture. As the men brought the items inside, we noticed much more damage. The mirror, which was in perfect shape since it was hanging on the wall of the store, now had two scratches on it. We also noticed that the door of the armoire now had a large 5" deep groove in the wood. The moving men continued to bring the armoire in by tumbling it end over end. This caused all the shelves inside to fall over and the door to fall open and hit our wall. My husband told them to stop. We called Dillard's but our salesperson was not there and there was no manager in the store. We then told them to take it all back and they did. Dillard's said they were sorry and refunded our money. I did not want the money back, I wanted our furniture. It took over a week to get the refund receipt in the mail. Dillard's had mailed it to us without postage. I would suggest that people buying furniture from Dillard's pick up their items themselves or insist that their furniture be wrapped up before delivery. I would also suggest that you double check your order, especially for availability of in stock items.
Description of Work: We had purchased furniture from Dillard's in the past and had been happy with it. This time the experience was terrible. We had our eye on a bedroom set at Dillard's for several months. I was at the Dillard's Galleria store when they opened the morning of a 50% off sale. I was told that there were no items in stock so I purchased the floor model, which had some minor damage. This consisted of a king bed, dresser, mirror, armoire and nightstand. I was surprised that no items were available new since we had just checked on the set a few days earlier and items were in stock. I was assured that Dillard's would repair the scratches once it was delivered.
