 + -1 moreI called Dean R Porter and told the lady that answered the phone that I had a leak in my roof and it was spreading through out my drywall celing and needed help. She took my address and contact info and said that someone would call me shortly but never did!

Description of Work: Dean is the consummate real estate professional. He took us to dozens and dozens of homes over a period of almost a year, and never got impatient with our need to go slowly through the process. Dean's expertise is astounding---he would walk into a house and start pointing about all kinds of details related to every system, such as HVAC, plumbing, electric, potential signs of earlier problems, etc. We would not have noticed most of these on our own (and it was nothing like the experience with our previous agent who served as essentially an appointment coordinator and taxi service). As an example, in the house we eventually bought, Dean walked into the living room and speculated that two windows had been closed off and, indeed, we walked around the side of the house and saw glass blocks in exactly those places. Another plus has been that he has been in the sales and rehab business for so long that he also knows many contractors around the area, and we have had great experiences with all his referrals. We first met Dean while walking by a house he had just sold, and got into chatting. It turned out that he had already worked with a whole bunch of people we know. He's a personable, enjoyable guy, with a generous spirit. In the end, you pay the same real estate commission regardless of quality, so why not go with someone outstanding.

Description of Work: Dean was our agent for both buying our new home and selling our old one. He was fantastic! He was responsive, thorough, easy to work with and really knows his business. We liked him so much as our buying agent, we used him to sell our house too. I would highly recommend him.

 + -1 moreDean was very impressive. The only reason that I did not hire him was that the agent I did select has a lot of experience in my neighborhood. Dean was a very, very close second. I liked his suggestions for what to fix in my home and how he would have marketed my home. He is very nice and very professional. I felt like he was very realistic given the market conditions. If the agent I have selected in unable to sell my home by the end of our listing, I will go straight to Dean with interviewing any more agents.
Description of Work: Dean was one of four Real Estate Agents that I interviewed to list my home.

 + -1 moreSince we were new to St. Louis for work, we took two visits with Dean. In the first, he introduced us to the city and drove us through each neighborhood to give us a feel of the different features. He did not take us in a single house, but rather tried to give us a big picture perspective. The second visit, he helped us identify features that we were interested in and took us only to those properties that fit our interests. Following our offer to purchase a home, Dean was a great agent and negotiator on our behalf. When we and sellers were at an impass, Dean stepped in with creative methods to close the deal so that everyone would be happy with the transaction.
Description of Work: Dean helped quickly narrow our search for housing as well as give us guidance about the different neighborhoods, features, and commuting routes in St. Louis.
