I have used Critter Control for many years. I used them because their employees were invariably knowledgeable about the various animals often telling me from clues left by the animals exactly what type of animal I was dealing with. They have now been bought out by a large company and it seems as if a lot of that knowledge has left. I recently hired them to deal with animals, I assumed possums. They have changed their pricing structure from a per animal charge to a flat fee. They explained that before hand and while pricey, I was willing to deal with it because of the good experiences I had had in the past. They came out and caught immediately a baby possum. Afterward, I got up the scat so I would know if there were others. There were although the employee thought it wasn't more scat just mud. I pointed out that when it had been fresh, it was obviously scat. I also suggested that they might want to move the traps as I did not think it reflected where the animals had been going. Long story short, they only caught the one possum and left. I hired another company and on day one, they caught two more. I won't use Critter Control again as they now seem to lack the basic knowledge that long ago drew me to them.

Yikes! Their traps have caught 3 skunks in the last 3 days. There is a set up fee (maybe $180?) and a per skunk fee ($80 I think). At any rate it is FAR CHEAPER than sending the dog to the groomer because she has been sprayed (yet again). I had no idea there were so many skunks in the neighborhood. Our neighbor caught some as well. They charge $40 if the traps catch a non-target animal such as a raccoon or an opossum. The trap did catch one raccoon but we let it go (a dicey move if the raccoon is ticked off). While the critter control person was here, he found an in-ground sweat bee nest. The charge to exterminate the nest was a little pricey, but also worth it. Those things can be very dangerous. The moles have managed to elude the traps so far, but they have only been in the ground for about a week. I don't remember the price per mole.
Description of Work: Critter Control set up 4 baited traps to combat our neighborhood skunk problem. They also set some mole traps. We engaged them because our neighbor had used them as well.

All existing insulation was removed using a HEPA filtered vacuum system to prevent dried fecal matter from become airborne. Entry prevention and repair, and decontamination and sanitation was performed. Electrical wiring was checked and if damaged repaired. R-40 boric acid impregnated insulation was installed. Heavy wire screening was installed over all gable vents, attic exhaust fan, roof ridge venting, and all plumbing vents. Two plumbing vents were totally replaced due to damage by squirrels. The outside dryer vent was replaced with heavy a metal, rodent proof dryer vent. Entire house (attic, living level, and basement) was gas fumigated. In addition, a lifetime guarantee was given for removal any and all animals reentering the house anywhere with remediation if needed at no charge. There were seven workers and a manager who performed the work over a 12 hour period in one day. All personnel were professional, thorough, and courteous. When the job was completed all work areas were impeccably cleaned.
Description of Work: We had an infestation of a great number of mice and other rodents in our attic, in the basement insulation in the high perimeter of the house, in the attic and crawl space of an addition to our house not accessible from the main attic.

They were fine. They did a good job and got rid of the moles. They come out once a week and check the traps and let me know if they have caught anything. If they did or didn’t catch anything I get charged. The representative that they sent out was really good, very informative and pleasant. It is expensive and not cheap. They were very responsive, punctual and professional.

I have used them for centuries. I have under contract three fields. It's a group contract which makes it nice. And they seem to be happy with them too. I do the inspection and then if I need them I call them. They take care of my needs. They were digging in a drain and I didn't want them there. So they fixed up all the crevices and things so the mice couldn't get in.

You pay a membership fee when you join and each time they catch a mole you pay $69. We have tried everything ourselves, traps, poison, peanuts, gum, and nothing worked. We finally found Critter Control and started in August and caught four moles by October. Critter Control has done a good job and have done everything they told us they would.

The technician was great. He arrived on time and promptly took care of the problem. He went up in the attic with no complaints on a hot summer day and quickly caught all of the babies and removed them, as well as the nesting material, from the attic. He also put screening in place over the soffet vents that the birds had used as an entry point and suggested a qualified carpenter that could come and enclose our soffets.

See above. Great company to work with...at least this employee was great!
Description of Work: I thought I had a dead mouse or squirrel in the wall or attic due to a terrible odor in an exterior wall closet. Called on a Saturday afternoon and someone was there in a couple of hours. He spent a good deal of time emptying and inspecting the closet only to determine the odor was from a damp piece of carpet. Who knew it could smell like that? He was extremely courteous and professional. Although $130 is a lot to spend to remove a piece of carpet, that was their fee for coming out and had it been a dead animal, it would have been more than worth it.

Perfect. We have been (for nearly two months) using another pest control company for our mouse problem. We have a two-story house (plus a finished basement with an unfinished storage area in the basement). We found the mice and immediately called the original pest control company who assured us that they would be able to fix our problem within a short period of time. However, they did not really try to find where the mice were coming in. They laid bait traps outside and in and told me NOT TO DISTURB WHERE THE MICE WERE IN THE HOUSE BECAUSE THEY WOULD MERELY GO SOMEWHERE ELSE IN MY HOUSE IF I CLEANED UP THE MESS. Horrible advice. Fast forward to last week, please. I called Benecorp, a company who does hazardous remediation -- they clean up the mice, their messes, etc. and disinfect everything. They found that the mice were nesting in my basement and reproducing in my basement. So the fact that the original pest control company told me NOT TO CLEAN UP ANYTHING, allowed the mice to continue to reproduce inside my house unchecked. Benecorp cleaned everything up in two days (God Bless Them). Then I called Critter Control. They came out the NEXT MORNING! Zack came out (in a Critter Control t-shirt and shorts -- very appropriate for the amount of dirty work involved ) and crawled around and searched and looked and checked EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE. He laid traps and found where they are most likely coming into the house. He checked places and found mice droppings that the first company did not know even about and put traps and bait there. He found huge holes in the house by the foundation that needed to be plugged up and filled. The first company had no idea about those areas because they did not check. They also do the repair work that needs to be done if you want them to do it. What a difference they made in my life. Thank you Critter Control.

We have an older house, and this means small openings for mice incursions. We have used Critter Control in the past and they have done a great job of finding and sealing this tricky little spots. It was therefore Critter Control whom we called when I came face to nose with a mouse stealing cherry tomatoes in the kitchen. While we set the traps and actually caught the little stinker, Critter Control came out and literally crawled all over the house to find the newest entry point. This entailed not only a minute inspection of our kitchen and basement but also a considerable amount of time inspecting the back of our house. The newest entry spot (marked by a pile of droppings) ended up being at one of the least accessible points on our house, on top of a rickety porch roof all the way up under the eaves by a chimney. David Hoben, the gentleman who performed this work for us, truly went above and beyond to find this entry point. Having dealt with other companies interested only in expensive baiting services (which in our case drew squirrels to the house which were then even more expensive to remove), we really appreciated that Critter Control is willing to take the time to find the source of the problem. Some potential customers may baulk at paying for an inspection, but a free inspection from another company is worth precisely what it costs: nothing. Critter Control is value for money.
Description of Work: Inspected the house for mouse evidence, found and sealed a really tricky entry point.

Unfortunately when Mark went into the attic he also found bats which I didn't know I had. I had found excrement at the side of the house on the sidewalk but thought it was the squirrels cleaning out their nest. Never dreamed of bats. Apparently they did their thing before entering the attic. So, as they are now roosting I must wait till spring to deal with them. I'm having CC come out and set up their tubes for the bats. When they are gone they will clean up the guano and disinfect. I can either have them blow in new insulation or call someone to install bat insulation. Am not sure which I will do yet. The whole experience when very well. The tech Mark was extremely nice and explaned everything in detail. Very well mannered. Although a smidge pricy was well worth it to stop any further damage being done. Will not hesitate to call them for any future problems.
Description of Work: Had squirrels in the attic. Called CC and they were out within a few days for an assessment. They were getting in at the end of a gutter run at the front of the house. I first noticed the damage being done when you could see water marks running down the outside brick. They had pushed the facia away from the house and water was wicking behind the gutters and down. It eventually affected the inside plaster walls. Mark went in the attic to look around and confirmed this was the only place they appeared to be getting in at. Set 3 traps. Called whenever a squirrel was caught and they came out took that one away and set new trap. Caught 3 squirrels in bout 3 days. They then took down traps and blocked hole with some cardboard. If after a few days the cardboard wasn't disturbed they knew they had all the squirrels that were getting in. If not they would reset traps. I only had the 3. They then came and repaired the hole. So far, about 1 week, no more patter of little feet up there.

I called Critter Control and told them I heard scratching in the attic at one edge of the house. They asked a couple questions and then said it was probably a squirrel (which it was). Squirrels build nests, have babies and overwinter in attics and October was the right time of year for that. The next day, a representative came out to inspect the area. He looked at the roof, gutters, foundation, etc and pointed out a couple of problem areas. In addition to removing the squirrel, I decided to have them fix some flashing over the front door, and cover the main louvre vent with heavy wire. He mentioned other items such as changing the roof vents and capping the vent pipes, but added there was not a high probability those things would cause problems. The next day the squirrel was caught. They came out that day to remove it and reset the trap for another week. A few days after the week was up, they sealed and flashed the squirrel access. A couple weeks after that, I noticed a smell coming from the attic. They came out to inspect and decided to clean out the attic at that time. There was a dead baby squirrel in the nesting material. Once that was gone, the house and attic smelled fine again. A few days later, they came out and finished the exterior work. I was pleased with their knowlege, professionalism and hard work.
Description of Work: I had a loose facia board where a squirrel was getting into the attic. Critter Control trapped the squirrel within 24 hours, then reset the trap and left it for another 6 days to make sure no other animals were involved. They closed up the hole and installed flashing around the area. They also installed flashing over the front door where the roof valley meets the gutters to keep water from backing up. They covered the triangular louvre vent on the side of the house with heavy gauge wire to keep birds and other animals (including racoons) from getting into the attic. All repairs and flashing was painted to match the house (white with black trim). They filled several trash bags with nesting material from the attic and made sure all was cleaned up afterwards.

It went well, my expectations were met.
Description of Work: I had squirrels living in my attic and creating havoc over my head early every morning. They came out and found out where they were getting in and boarded up the holes. It took awhile to catch them all, but they were very responsive when I called to have them removed from the traps. We were kind of under the gun, as they have their litters in January and could not be removed while the babies were there. Considering the cost of the damage the squirrels could have caused I quess they weren't that expensive. I live in a rural area so I very much appreciated their prompt responses, it is sometimes difficult to get people to come that far out.

Tom, the technician arrived promptly and explained each step of the process. He was very polite and professional. He worked his entire time, and even help me move the items back to the garage. He explained the cost prior to the job and afterwards. I had found the process to be fairly easy to schedule and the company followed up prior to the technician's arrival. A technician has also stopped by and checked the outside traps since the initial job. I would gladly use this company again if I have any more pest problems.
Description of Work: I had noticed a field mouse in my garage in the spring. I thought it was an isolated incident. I was not sure if there was only one mouse or many mice. Regardless, they had begun destroying items in the garage to build a nest. Prior to calling this company, I had noticed some type of excrement (noting it was too large amount for a mouse). As I investigated, I noticed a large snake skin to my surprise. The excrement had been from a snake in the garage. Evidently the snake had smelled the mice(mouse). I knew I had to ensure the initial problem was removed (the mice). Critter Control arrived and set mice traps (inside the gargage and outside). The technician (Tom) went through the garage to ensure there were no snakes. A few days later I noticed the mouse was deceased. I have had no problems since (and no more snake skins).
