They matched up the siding. We tried to get bids from as many companies as possible. They came in and were pretty realistic. Other companies proposed to reside the whole house. There was some leak that was causing the side to rot. This company fixed that problem and made it look pretty seamless. For matching new material to old material, they did a pretty good job.

Went great from start to finish. Prompt, courteous. The job was done very well and they cleaned up after themselves. The guys doing the work were exceptional. The owner Brooks, stayed on top of the job and I would recommend them.

We've used Colonial for multiple projects in our home - replace patio door; new window (2002) and were so impressed by his professionalism and honesty, that he was in the running for the siding project too (2005). He is so honest and trustworthy - we thought we needed new gutters, and other companies just added them in. Brooks told us, not at this time - just clean them up and they'll be good as new. We still have the siding left - and it'll be with Brooks. We referred him to a family members house who used him for siding, windows, gutters, sofits and facshia after looking at muliple vendors. HE is simply the best and referred us to other contractors for various needs == GREAT GUY, GREAT Work. The installation teams on all projects have been curteous and friendly and always cleaned up.

I couldn't say enough good things about Colonial Exteriors! A co-worker recommended the company, and Brooks Gentzel, the owner, came out and gave me an estimate. He was friendly, professional, honest, and very knowledgeable. I had interviewed several other contractors who also seemed very good, but he offered me the lowest price and suggested some things the other contractors hadn't mentioned. I had some trim on my house that I felt it was important to keep, and most other contractors either replaced it with siding or wrapped it, which looked okay but caused it to lose its definition. Brooks worked with me on several solutions to this problem, but it was difficult to get something that would fit and that would be maintenance-free. In the end the crew was able to make something that looked just like the original trim, much to my delight! They also changed their original design, since I wasn't sure I liked it that way, and I really appreciated that. The crew, Eric and Adam, were very polite, professional and hard-working. When it came time to do my porch railings, they noticed that the porch had settled, so they raised it up and made it even for me - it really looks great! Brooks and his crew are true professionals who are experts in their field, and they are very willing to make sure the customer is satisfied. If you're looking for a contractor who won't disappoint you, you've found him! I haven't taken any pictures of the house yet, but I'm going to add them when I do, to show the detail.

A windstorm this May blew a piece of siding off of our home. We discovered that the siding had not been put up properly and water was leaking into our basement. Brooks came out promptly to our home to look at the problem and was very, very knowledgeable and offered a few different solutions to our problem. We chose to replace the entire side since it is so vulnerable (that side is the windward side and takes the brunt of every storm). He showed me the siding he would use, the insulating product and explained why they use the product. Once all the siding was off the house they discovered that some of the flashing around one window was look so they secured that too! The only problem we have is that side of our house looks so much better that all the other sides...now we have to do the rest of the house. Brooks is low-key and very knowledgeable-no hard sales pitch. All the crews are company employees (NO SUBS) and they have only great things to say about working for Brooks. This company does not advertise...it is all through word of mouth and they have been successfully in business for 30 years! They offer a lifetime guarantee on workmanship and their quote as comparable to 1 other company on Angie's list and $1000 less than another.

The crew performing the work were very professional, did an excellent job, and cleaned up afterwords. I had four subcontractors on this project, Colonial was by far the best, and the price was competitive with the other bids. Drive by my building at 15421 Clayton Rd. The "Claymont Medical Building". We got estimates from 4 companies. This was not the lowest, but the guarantee was far and away the best. Brooks also volunteered that he would include in his estimate securing the loose pieces. We waited 2 or 3 months for the job, but we were in no hurry. Brooks thought he could reuse the siding on the front dormer, and just put it up correctly. He couldn't; our price went up slightly because of that. We were going to tear down the shingles on the back dormer, but the timing was bad and we couldn't. Brooks had no problem with adding that to the job. The workers were good about putting their materials away in the evenings. My only very minor complaint is that I wish they had cleaned up after themselves a bit better. We are still picking up cigarette butts and little pieces of vinyl. Overall, we love the way it looks and the price was very reasonable.

The crew that came out was wonderful, very pleasant and hard working. They did a great job and were very professional. Brooks was the boss on the job and he kept everything together great.

They brought samples of colors and didn't pressure me in any way. The wind knocked off 1 piece and they came out and fixed it immediately at no cost. I'd use them again in a heartbeat and recommend them to others!

Colonial's two-man crew sided the soffits and trim of our home. They took extra care to preserve as much detail as possible in the German architecture of our home, trimming our curved braces and "swoop" over our door, instead of sawing them flat to make it easier. The crew was very friendly and polite, and cleaned up everything. They moved items around in our tiny backyard to work, and they took very good care of everything they touched. The trim is in two colors and the house looks great! We are going to have them back to do our windows. Brooks was upfront about not trimming the windows if we were going to replace them anytime soon, so that we would not waste money on trim that would have to be destroyed when the windows were removed. Brooks was also very patient with my uninformed questions about the process, and he never took advantage of my lack of knowledge or expertise. I cannot recommend Brooks Gentzel and Colonial Exteriors enough!

Mr. Gentzel was very easy to work with, very polite and always answered my questions. He thoroughly explained pricing and gave a detailed written bid. The work crew was also very polite and clean-cut and took their time in their craftsmanship. They were patient with any questions that came up, and made sure that I was satisfied with the end product. This was the lowest bid, but I am very satisfied with the quality of the work. I will be recommending this company to friends.
