The owner asked me, "who opened your pool" I told him and he said, "call them". Well, they do not do repairs, etc. When I communicated this he said, "we're not available" and hung up on me. When I posted my review on Google he answered with only working within certain zip codes. If you read enough reviews, this is not a nice person. Also, he said no one will respond. I have received a response from so many,

They dumped the pool water to my neighbor's yard without confirming with us & the neighbor. We were at work, my neighbor asked them to not empty the pool to the yard. They were very rude to my neighbor and picked up a fight. Then, when I told the owner it's not acceptable, he wouldn't stop defending himself. We apologized from our neighbor and was very sorry. NEVER AGAIN.

I called Chaney pools to set up an appointment for him to come out and take a look at my pool. I was having problems with the salt system. Mr Chaney explained that I was out of his service area and would not come out. He then took the time to trouble shoot my problem over the phone, fixed my problem and did not charge me. The whole process took 15 minutes and I cannot thank Mr. Chaney enough. This is why he has an "A" rating and all the positive reviews on Angie's List. I would recommend him highly.

Here's the deal...I'm looking for a good pool company in St. Louis and so far I have yet to find one. I called this company and left a message for them to call me back, but they never did. I understand if a company is too busy to fit me into the schedule, but there is no excuse for not calling someone back. This is not the only non-responsive pool company I've encountered, so I'm heading over to review the other companies next. I am willing to post another review of this company if they call and explain to me why they couldn't call. Beware, if you are rude, I'll be back on here to tell about my experience. I'm making it my mission to force out the extremely poor pool companies in St. Louis and allow any good ones to rise to the top. Not calling someone back might not seem like a big deal to some people, but I'm new to pool ownership and I need quick responses. In my situation, my pool pump was tripping the breaker and would not stay running. From what I've read, you can get algae or other problems in your pool very quickly, so for a pool company not to respond is actually a big deal. I ended up getting the problem fixed, but it caused me quite a bit of stress for a few days, as I was potentially facing an expensive replacement of the pool pump. Again, I can't speak to the work of this company because the simply never called me back, and that is why I'm complaining. UPDATE: 7-30-2015 Chaney did call me this morning and explained that he was out of town and missed my call. He apologized for not calling me back and was very professional. It appears that he would be responsive and might be a good service provider after all. I'm not looking to burn anyone, but my experiences with pool companies in STL have left me a bit sour. After not getting a call back for what I deemed an "urgent" situation, I just assumed that Chaney was another sub-par pool company. Talking with Chaney on the phone has made me think that I possibly jumped the gun. I know that mistakes happen and I do appreciate him calling and explaining what happened and why he didn't call back. He didn't make excuses, but mainly just apologized. That's exactly what he should have done and for this reason I will update my rating to an "A." I still can't speak to the actual quality of his work, but his polite manner on the phone is a good indication that he is probably good to work with.

We bought a house with a pool, without knowing much about the pool, & pools in general. We contacted Troy to drain the pool, clean it and cover it. Troy came out looked at it, told us our equipment was good, measured the pool for a new cover, and recommended we treat the pool for the winter, instead of draining it. After the cover came in, they removed the old cover, cleaned the pool of all the debris that had collected in the 2 summers the pool sat closed, treated it and installed the new safety cover. Troy was very helpful and charged a fair price for the work he did. I had other pool companies giving me quotes double the price of what Troy charged. Troy also saved us money by recommending not draining the pool now, doing that instead in the spring. We will definitely be calling him in the spring! Would recommend to others.

Troy was very professional and explained everything in great detail. The work was performed in the timeframe promised. Very pleased with the work.

I CALLED HIM BECAUSE I WANTED TO GET A BID ON MY POOL OPENING...HE WAS A HIGHLY RATED PROVIDER...WHEN I CALLED HIM HE STARTED BASHING THE OTHER COMPANY I USED WHICH WAS A GOOD COMPANY.. I NEVER LIKE WHEN A COMPANY STARTS BADMOUTHING ANOTHER CO. i JUST WANTED A COMPETITIVE BID. HE WAS A WEEK LATE GETTING BACK TO ME...HE BASHED THE OTHER COMPANY WHICH ALWAYS CONCERNS ME BUT I THOUGHT I WOULD LET HIM COME OUT...HE NEVER GOT BACK TO ME..I CALLED HIM A WEEK LATER AND HE SAID HE FORGOT AND WAS COMING OUT...WHEN HE DID SHOW UP, HE SAID HE WAS TOO BUSY TO TALK TO ME AND UNLESS I PAID HIM HE HAD NO TIME TO TALK TO ME...I HAVE NEVER EVER IN THE HISTORY OF BEING A HOME OWNER BEEN TREATED LIKE THIS..HE THEN GOT ON HIS KNEES AND BEGGED ME TO FORGIVE HIM AND TRIED TO THROW MONEY AT ME.. I TOLD HIM IF HE DIDNT LEAVE I WOULD CALL THE POLICE....THIS GUY SCARED THE HECK OUT OF ME...i READ WHERE ONE REVIEWER SAID HE WAS MEAN...HE IS! HE SCARED THE H*** OUT OF ME AND WHEN I TOLD HIM I WAS GOING TO REPORT HIM TO ANGIES LIST HE STARTED THROWING MONEY AT ME. HE THEN STARTED SENDING ME EMAILS ANS SCARED ME AND i TOLD HIM IF HE DIDNT STOP I WOULD CALL THE POLICE. MY COVER WAS UPSIDE DOWN AND HE KEPT SAYING THE COMPANY THAT CLOSED IT PUT IT ON WRONG...i TRIED TO TELL HIM IT WAS THE CEMENT COMPANY THAT HAD TO DO SOME WORK BUT HE SAID I DONT EVEN WANT TO HEAR ONE WORD FROM YOU UNLESS YOU PLAN TO PAY ME BECAUSE I HAVE A CUSTOMER I HAVE TO GET TO...IM SICK OF HEARING POOL COMPANIES SAY THEY ARE BUSY..THEY SHOULD BE! ITS POOL SEASON.! THEY HAVE ALL WINTER TO PREPARE FOR THEIR BUSY TIME...THIS GUY SCARED ME AND IF I EVEN SEE HIM NEAR MY HOME I WILL CALL THE POLICE! AND, I HAVE SOME BRAND NEW EQUIPMENT..IF THERE IS ANY DAMAGE TO ANYTHING, I WILL GO ON RECORD THAT IT IS HIM TRYING TO GET EVEN WITH ME FOR THIS REVIEW. I WOULD NEVER RECCOMMEND HIM .

Troy Chaney Pools came recommended by friends when we first moved to our home 2 years ago, we have never had a pool before and wanted to be sure we took all the appropriate steps. We used him last year to open and close our pool, as well as for some pool pump repairs. He seemed to do a good job at that, but he was certainly not the most friendly individual I have encountered. However, I forgive people their personality flaws as long as they do their job with a modicum of respect for the customer. I called this morning to arrange to have our pool opened and after saying hello and introducing myself, Troy Chaney raised his voice and yelled at me saying that we were "not even close to being a priority" for him given that we were not regular customers (to be honest, I am not sure how regular a pool customer can be - this is only our 2nd season having a pool and we were calling him back again to maintain our pool). In fact he was so rude on the phone, it nearly brought me to tears which is no small feat - as a physician and mother of 3 small children, I am generally quite resilient. He essentially hung up on me after telling me to "get someone else to open your pool". This situation was so upsetting to me that I opened up an Angies list account merely to place this review on here so that someone else will not have to deal with this sort of situation. In all of my years of interacting with many people from many walks of life in many different situations, I have never had an experience as negative as this. Regardless of whether or not you view a customer as important or a priority, it is probably something best left unsaid. I am happy to report that I called Pool Tron pools and though I have never been a customer of theirs, they were wonderfully responsive and will be by on Friday to open our pool in time for Mother's Day.

Have used Troy at 3 different homes - 3 different pools. Very reliable, high quality, professional - always works in the customer's best interest. In past years, have used a number of service providers who were often unreliable and with whom we were less confident in their ability or motivation. Troy (and Chris) are a pleasant and valued exception.

We have recommended Chaney pools to many of our friends and they are very pleased with the service. Troy has helped us keep our older pool in service for a long time and we appreciate his service.

Troy is awesome. You can tell he loves what he does. My pool is a bit of a nightmare due to neglect from the previous owners. He has been working his butt off trying to get it up and running. He is constantly available, always responds to emails, texts and phone calls, and even comes out on Sundays to get his work done. He is a perfect example of the type of man you want working on your house. Completely trustworthy as he admitted to me when something was his fault (he got some leaves in the main drain) when he easily could have just charged me. I have yet to receive my first bill (and truthfully I am a little nervous) but frankly he is worth it. EDIT* The price was fair and everything is going great!!

Chaney Pools did a great job. They were the one company that was willing to work with me for a tile falling off. I worked with them for a couple of years and then finally I did go to them as a general contractor to sand blast and re-plaster the pool. They helped close the pool and I will use them to re-open it again. They were responsive and flexible. I have an old pool that was built around 1962 and most of the companies wanted to overhaul it and Chaney works with what the homeowner wants. They did a pretty good job.

The work was performed as scheduled. All of the subcontractors showed up on time, did their work in a timely fashion and were professional in their work.

Originally called with general questions about caring for the pool at our new house (older pool, lots of little problems - plus we never owned a pool before). Very helpful over the phone. Very soon afterwards, the pump motor for our filter seized and stopped running; we thought this was about to happen, which was one reason for our original call. Came the next day, on time, and replaced the motor in less than an hour. Price was much less than an estimate we got from another company.

Their service was okay. They were okay and I wouldn?t go far beyond that. I don?t think they were all that great. They were average. I would probably not recommend them to a family member. I wouldn?t use them again in the future because I found somebody better.

They are great. They are the only people I trust. I don't remember their prices being terribly high. I can call them in an emergency and they will come right over. They are honest and reliable.

Troy was fantastic. He arrived 1/2 hour after my call, he was professional, fixed the problem with an economical solution. After checking out our entire set-up he made suggestions that were explained easily that made common sense. There was a problem with the programming of the controls, once again one phone call, and it was finished. This was the best most professional, knowledgable pool repair I have ever had in the 11 years of owning this property with a pool. THANK YOU- Chaney Pools!

Chaney pools has serviced our pool for two summers now. They are always thorough and efficient. If they come when I am away from home I always know they have been there because of how wonderful the pool area looks. They deliver a high quality and reliable service.

Troy returned my call quickly. He got back to me with an estimate and options for what needed to be done in 48hrs. He told me that I didnt need to do some of the work which others had recommended for at least 5-6 years. He gave me several options for covers and didnt try to push the most expensive. That was my choice because its safer and almost permanent. He advised me on how I could save money, like one color was $100 less than the one I first chose. The work was completed quickly and looks good. Im going to use them next year for all my pool services.

Troy did an excellent job. He was on time and took his time doing the work and talking to us so we were well informed on the condition of the pool. He is extremely knowledgeable and talked to us about every aspect of the pool. He made sure we understood what he was talking about and had quality references for the work that needed to be done.

Troy has worked with us and many other friends for overall maintenance of inground pools. He will do weekly or monthly maintenance during the summer months, and also open and close your pool. He can also make repairs as needed. He is very honest and never pushes doing any unnecessary work.

THEY DO THE JOB WELL. THE FIRST TIME SOME THINGS WERE LEFT UNATTENDED, BUT IN GENERAL THINGS WERE DONE WELL. THEY ARE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE POOL.
